J & S Sealcoating

I paid half up front and he said he was going to the bank and would be right back and he never showed up. I texted his cell and he promised to come out three additional weekends and he never showed up. At the end of the November, I called him again and he said he would pay back the money and so far he has not and I am not hopeful. He never did the work and I am out $150. At this point he lied, stole, and is a scam artist. I will update this review, if i learn differently.

Beware Josh Ziko, J &S Sealcoating. Josh is a personable guy who stopped by after doing the neighbors driveway. My Mom had just bought the house and the driveway had been neglected by the previous owner. It had many cracks, both small and large, and hadn't been coated in several years. He said several times he would "Clean the cracks of grass and weeds, use silicone to fill the cracks, seal them and then coat the entire driveway". They agreed on a reasonable price and he started the job a few days later. His contract states "3 year warranty." He first used a weed eater to knock the weeds down. Then he blew the driveway off with a big portable fan. Next, he sprinkled silica sand in the cracks and swept to level it off. THERE WAS NO SILICONE, just SILICA SAND. Last he used a pump and a wand to spray the sealcoating on the driveway. He never "sealed the cracks" prior to doing the driveway. He made all kind of promises about fixing the cracks, but didn't deliver. Before he started Dad had asked about rain, as a storm was coming that afternoon. Josh replied the drive would be dry long before the rain and that there would be no problem. Rain started that afternoon, at first they didn't notice any difference. But within a week the cracks started to come back. Within a month the grass and weeds returned. They have called Mr Ziko several times, each time he makes an appointment to come out and rectify the problem THEN DOESN'T SHOW UP. They are not asking for perfection, just a little extra effort. Very unprofessional, very disappointing. Mr Ziko does not live up to his promises and did a bad job on my parents driveway.
