Custom fabrication & granite, solid surfaces and engineered stone installation & sell.
We do not feel the fabrication was a quality job because there places that were not polished, the edges were rough, sink cutout was uneven and the orientation of one piece was not as discussed. The owner returned and looked at the island counter and recommended that they come out to polish it on site but that they were busy right now and it would be a ?while? before they could come out. We did not hear from them again after 3-4 months. After looking in Angie's List we saw the IDS ratings were not very good and we told Pioneer we did not want IDS back again. Pioneer contacted another fabricator who came out, looked at the island and he felt there had been a machine problem during polishing before final fabrication. He recommended removing the island and polishing in his shop as the process is very messing with lots of water vs. IDS wanted to polish in place.
Description of Work: IDS was recommended by Pioneer Kitchen as a good supplier and fabricator for our granite kitchen counters. The owner is very personable. We went to the IDS shop and met with the owner to pick out the granite and the determine the orientation of the pattern.

A representative came out to look at the stain and schedule repair. No mention of estimate was made. He also measured area for shelf and took the piece of Corian which we had, to cut for the shelf. When the repair men arrived (2 men) they had the shelf but it was cut to the wrong size and they had to re cut it. They repaired the stain in approximately 1/2 hour and left. Sometime later we received a bill for $150 for the repair and $75 for the trip charge. An effective rate of $450/hr. When we tired to question the representative of Interior Design, he finally responded after several calls and referred us to a woman in their office named Trina, who failed to respond to several phone calls. We mailed a check for the $150 and asked for a response about the trip charge. The voice mail response from the woman in the office, was you still owe for the trip charge. We paid the balance under protest so we would not be dunned and have our credit rating jeopardized. We also reported this to Pioneer kitchens who installed the countertops and referred us to this company. We have had no response from them in the month since we sent the letter. We will never use this company again and hope no one else will either.

This was by far the worst experience I've ever had with any service provider. From the beginning we had problems. The original date our counters were suppose to arrived was pushed daily (one excuse after another) until they finally came over 1 week late. During the "excuse" periord, the owner Jim Tanton was caught in several lies. First we were told "the truck got stuck in the snow," next we were told that the sink wasn't in (interesting that he was on his way to our house the day before when the truck was stuck, but now he had no sink? Made us wonder how he planned to install the day before). Our contractor confirmed with Rugby (the sink provider) that the sink wasn't even ordered until the three days after our counter was suppose to be installed. By the time the counter was actually installed (1.5 weeks late), our entire construction job was off schedule due to the delays! When the counter was installed it got much WORSE. Jim sent the installers with two slabss of stone that did not match. The installers informed us (after the installation) that they told Jim the slabs did not match but he told them to install them anyway! We ended up with a Blizzard White Cesar Stone counter top that was two entirely different colors and very obvious since it was seemed together where the slabs didn't match. Needless to say, our contractor didn't pay the additional balance due. Less than 10 minutes after the installers left Jim Tanton left a very threatening voicemail saying he was going to sue me (remember this is only 10 minutes after installation). When I returned Jims call, he wouldn't even let me explain that the counters didn't match; instead he screamed and shouted about having his installers come back and rip out our counters. To make a very long story short. We had to involve Cesar Stone and Stone Design (the distributor) to finally make this right. We verified that the slabs were from two totally different batches and documented this with photos and batch numbers. In the end, our counters were finally replaced by Jim, however, it took well over two weeks! There were repairs that were also made because the taking out the mis-matched counters damaged the drywall, sink, and cabinets! PLEASE BEWARE! I would hate for anyone to have to deal with this situation like we did. Also, the installers confirmed that this was just 1 of many jobs that they have had to redo for this very reason!!!! Use another counter company, I wish we had!
Description of Work: Jim Tanton of Interior Design Surfaces was suppose to provide us a Quartz countertop. We were remodeling our whole house.

This job was submitted via Boaz Construction. The customer did not pay required deposit on time delaying purchase & fabrication of material. The customer promised full payment upon installation in which was never made. We placed a lien on the property and filed legal action against Boaz Construction.
