Johnathan warned us before he started that he was slow, and he didn't lie. But the quality of his work made up for it. He makes sure it's done right, even when it's done by an employee or sub-contractor. We started the beginning of April, and finished near the middle of August. Some of the delay was due to lag time to order parts, such as shower door. Johnathan was flexible with us when we needed to change some of the details of the work (for instance, we went to vinyl on the master bath floor due to poor experience with tile in kitchen, which he didn't do, and moved the tiling to the walls instead), and pricing was quite fair. If I needed something minor done, I wouldn't hesitate to call him. However, if I needed something major done within a normally reasonable time frame, I'd probably look elsewhere, unless I had a way to get him to firmly commit to a completion date. We had lots of time to spare with this project, and I do appreciate the care that he took to make sure that the final result was exactly right and what we wanted.

We were very happy with them. Our experience with them was excellent. The price was very reasonable.

It went well and Jonathan was very meticulous. If you want speed, you're dealing with the wrong guy. But if you want perfection, he's your man.

We called them in to get an estimate on a plaster wall issue. He told us how we could take care of the issue ourselves, let us know the materials and where to buy them and then told us we'd be able to take care of the project way cheaper if we did it on our own. Such a helpful and friendly experience. We'll certainly use them in the future based on this experience.

I was thinking that the overall process would not have taken almost a month to complete, but the weather did play a role. I would just make sure that the next time I call on this company that I had a better completion date set before 1/2 down payment was paid. I do have to say that if you use this company you will have no problem with comunication. The completed job on calender day 27 was done right and done well. I am very pleased with the clean up job that was performed at time of completion.

excellent work took much longer than he said it would

I found Jonathan Smith on Angie's List. He responded promptly. He and his wife and co-worker, Erin, came to evaluate the project, and tell me what it would cost. Jonathan and Erin were both pleasant, and I couldn't have been happier with the results. I will definitely call him again. In fact, I've asked him to come back and do some remodeling in my kitchen and a downstairs bathroom once I have the money to do the work. He was extremely professional. If he was running late, he always called. He came when he said he would come. He quoted me a range on the price, depending on what he found once he got into the project, so I knew it could be anywhere from $850 to $1500. He charged me the lowest price because once he got into the project, there were no surprises or "worst case" scenerios. I felt he was very honest with me about what needed to be done and didn't overcharge. Each day they cleaned up the site well, and left with everything clean and in order. I liked their work. Plastering, I understand, is not the easiest thing to do, and his work was absolutely excellent. I can't tell what he did from the original. The work is seamless. That made me very happy. Last thing, they like animals, too, and were careful with our animals--especially our cat. They were kind to her and genuinely seemed to like her. And they listened about doors, and not letting her out. Jonathan seems knowledgeable--I asked him about some other projects, and would trust him to do them, as well. He is careful and thorough. Overall, I was completely satisfied, and would call him again for other projects.

They were really quick. They come over within a day and then gave me a quote in two days. They were really friendly and knew what they were talking about.

Jonathan was very pleasant to speak with and seems very knowledgeable. The work we agreed on was for me to do all the ?de-struction? in our bathroom remodel (rip everything down to the studs), and the new plumbing. The only thing Insured Services had to do was install the tile. At first this was just the shower tile, but as I began ripping things out we decided to do the floor as well. For a project as small as ours I was thinking it would only take 5 days to get the shower done, ok, now throw in the floor and it?s 2 weeks at most. 6 weeks later the job was finally done. I understand that various mud and adhesives take time to dry, but it always seemed like there was something else that could be done while we were waiting. Often times I felt like our job was not as important and we would be pushed to other days, or other times during the day that were even more disruptive to our lives than this process is. I know it was a small project, but we never felt important or that our job was a priority (except when I would have to start getting on his case to get it done). Another thing that kept bothering me was that I was regularly (every week) asked for money, ?for materials.? First off I put $1200 down for the job, with the understanding that materials were coming out of this. Secondly, when it was all said and done Insured Services only purchased about $500 worth of materials, we picked up the bulk of everything directly. I would strongly suggest setting a payment plan in place to avoid this added little bit of stress. Example: 25% down, 50% when half way through the project, last 25% when project is finished. This may help with the punctuality too? All said and done the quality of work is very nice. There a couple details I notice, but I know that?s just me being picky. Jonathan told me that give it 3-4 months and just enjoy our new bathroom and we?d forget all about the stress of getting the project done, and he?s right. It rarely comes to mind and it really does look good. All of our family and friends ?oh? and ?ah? over it and it really does make my wife and I happy every time we go in there. Do the ends justify the means?

We haven't started the project yet but I will probably not use them. He submitted a proposal for a flat price and I asked for an itemized price and I haven't heard a word back from him yet. The project is large and we intend to do some of the work ourselves. Unless I have an itemized list from him to know which things are the most expensive and how much they cost will determine exactly what we are going to do. The quote doesn't tell me anything. I have another local contractor that I am waiting on an itemized quote from. He was very prompt and the only issue is that he didn't break it down. He seemed very capable. He did come on time for the quote.

They did very good quality work. He was reliable and came when he said he would. It wasn?t the best price but it was fair.

Before the work started Jonathan asked us which of the local stores we would prefer and we chose Lowe's. He then made an appointment for us to meet with him and a representative of Lowe's to go over our needs and make selections. Our first choices were good but the bill would have gone way over our budget. Jonathan and Jeff (Jeff is Lowe's Sales Specialist) went over it with us and gave us excellent advise about what we could replace with lower price items of equal quality and what we might change in our initial design. The materials had to be ordered so the next step was to wait for it to come in then we made an appointment for the work. When Jonathan came in the first day he tore out the old cabinets, dishwasher and so on. This went well except for the less than pleasant discovery that there were large holes in the wall behind the cabinets and a broken drain pipe. It was obvious that this would need to be repaired. Jonathan talked to us about this and gave us an estimate for the work and material. His charges for all work were very reasonable. Jonathan did a very good and careful job of both wall and plumbing repair. He not only replaced parts of the wall board but the insulation as well. The cabinets and countertop were installed next. This took time because he made sure that all was level and even. Then the sink and plumbing were put in place. We have a water filter which had been drained before it was taken out and Jonathan put back. This had something wrong so it leaked and Jonathan got the needed parts to repair it. Again he gave us an estimate first and charged a very fair price for the extra work. After all the work was done Jonathan came back to make sure that everything was right including level counters, all doors and drawers lined up, no leaks and that we were happy with the work. To sum it all up: Jonathan of Insured Services does excellent work at very reasonable prices. I would highly recommend him. I definitely plan to use his services again.

Insured Services has done an amazing job from the beginning. This house was a real challenge. Water damage had collapsed the kitchen ceiling and rot had made a mess of things. Johnathan's meticulous and detailed work has made it so one cannot tell where the new wall repairs end and the original walls begin. One thing that I really appreciated is that Johnathan will not settle for less than the best. If something was not done correctly, he will re-do it (as opposed to leaving it and hoping you don't notice!). He has been transparent in his pricing and DOES NOT MARK UP MATERIALS! He makes a living through his labor and is happy to pass along savings in material costs to the customer. He is an honest man and it makes all the difference!

Well the job started off with in the same week that I sign the contract. the job took a little longer then I thought it should have, but johnathan got hurt, but we can not control that. when some thing would not go right , johnathan would call me and we would talk it over and come up with the best way to do it. I would talk with johnathan daily and talk about the job and se how it was going, we got along very good. The cost of the job includes labor which was $16,000.00 and the materials I personally purchased which cost $15,000.00.

The entire project took a little longer than we expected, however, Johnathan's focus on detail and his penchant for "getting it right" meant a lot to us. On a project this large, he was responsive to our wishes and suggestions. He also went out of his way to accompany us to the hardware store when we ordered fixtures and materials. He was with us every step of the way from start to finish.
