Indy Gas Works

Darren did a great job. We are going to have them back out to work on the gas logs of another fireplace soon. They were very professional, very quick, very knowledgeable and very helpful. Even their prices were good and we would definitely recommend them.

It went great. Ian carefully cleaned logs and flame tube and tightened a loose wire. He got everything working well and took the time to show me how the set worked and to answer all my questions.

Prompt, totally professional, left the place clean and worked quickly and efficiently. I would certainly use them again I the need ever arises.

I first got them off of Angie’s List and they are excellent. I have a neighbor that uses them too and she talked about what a good job they did. We have a gas fireplace and they come in and take everything out and clean everything well. They make sure there are no gas leaks. They put everything back in and turn my gas back on and I am good to go. I first had them out here several years ago and I just kept using them.

It went very well. The owner and his helper came out to do the work. they were very courteous and thorough. They even clened the windows.

No issues with IGW at all. Darren was professional and conscientious. We'd use him again in a heartbeat. We had actually heard of Darren from the guy at Lelands that was helping us choose some logs for our fireplace. He told us hes the guy we want if we sub the project ourselves. Turns out that was who Franco used so that worked out beautifully. No regrets.

Indy Gas Works came to my home to repair a leak in my fireplace in mid March. When he left the gas fireplace wasn't working right. (it was working right before he fixed the leak). He was to order a part. No one called to let me know when the part was in. I had to follow up and they asked me what part was for my fireplace because they had several different parts. I'm suppose to know these details? What happened to their records? The repairman came out and installed the part. He was suppose to come at 11:00 at the earliest. He arrived at 8:15 am without calling. After he replaced the part, the fireplace worked for one hour before it quit working. I called and he came out again. He said it was something else and would need to order a different part., he would call me and let me know the cost of the part. I called a week later because no one had called me. He still didn't return my call. By now it had been two months since they first came out so I contacted another company. I called Indy Gas Works to lodge a complaint. and since no one answered, i left a message. I haven't heard from them since then. When the second company came out to repair the fireplace, he found that the fireplace still had a gas leak.

We used Daren to install 2 gas lines in our house, after he first came out and provided an estimate. The day he arrived to do the install, he informed me that he thought he was coming to do an estimate, even though he'd already been to our house. As such, he couldn't do the job that day, and had to come back the following morning. First bad sign... First thing he did was drill through a water pipe in our crawlspace, which he had to repair before even starting the work on the gas lines. Another bad sign... He installed the gas line for our range too high to allow the range to slide in place, despite looking at the specs on the install guide beforehand. Unfortunately, he had come and gone by the time the installers came to do their work later in the day. When I called to let Daren know the situation he refused to come back out that day, and was quite irate with me on the phone, claiming I had shown him the wrong spec guide (not true!). The earliest he offered to be back to correct the issue was 3 days later!! Yet ANOTHER bad sign, and horrible customer service to boot... When he returned in 3 days, he huffed and puffed about having to correct the situation to Clark Appliance's recommendations. He even stated "If they want it installed like that, they can do it themselves!" Really?! Wow! How professional... He did get to work fixing the problem, but after awhile, my wife and I realized he had left. We thought he had gone out to the truck to get something, but his truck was gone too. Then we guessed maybe he ran out to get a part, but repeated attempts to get in touch with him went unanswered. He had agreed to hook up our gas dryer as well, and when I checked, it had not been done. He never returned to finish hooking up our gas dryer, which he agreed to do. And he left without ever saying so much as an "all done'! He never returned our calls. We couldn't believe someone would behave in such a childish and unprofessional manner. I would never recommend his services to anyone, unless, of course, you'd like to deal with an unprofessional, unreliable, incompetent individual. Lesson learned! I should have checked his references out on Angie's List first. I would have discovered that he's no longer searchable on there because of breaking a contract with Angie's List. Apparent, his unprofessional behavior wasn't unique to me.

We detected an odor of natural gas when we last used our gas-log fireplace last winter, 2012. We had a visual inspection by a plumber, who noted our key valve was loose. He surmised this was the source of the leak. We then called our regular go-to plumber for assessment and repair. Although he was able to also smell gas when the key was turned, he was unable to locate the source and wasn't able to repair. We were referred to Darren at Indy Gas Works by a chimney sweep. After several rescheduled appointments due to unforeseen emergencies on both sides, Darren was finally able to schedule the repair. Not only did he locate the fireplace key valve leak (under the floor, in the crawlspace), but he inspected, tested and repaired numerous other leaks throughout our basement and first floor. There were leaks near and in our furnace and in several areas along the gas line under our cook top. In addition to the repairs of the gas lines and connectors, Darren also inspected an in ground gas grill, probably circa 1971. He declared it in good shape with the exception of the 2 food racks on top. After so many years, they are too rusty. We will replace those ourselves. We can now safely use our fireplace again. I'm relieved to know that leaks under my cook top are now gone! Darren was efficient and professional. He is a very pleasant businessman who knows his area of expertise. He quickly found leaks that had been overlooked by 2 previous plumbing experts! I will not name names as I will continue to do business with these other two companies. I wholeheartedly recommend INDY GAS WORKS for gas installation and repair work. .

Daren was recommended to us by the folks at Pools of Fun, and we were happy for the recommendation. Daren was prompt, thorough and did a great job with the three gas lines that he ran. He came back a day later to hook up the pool heater after the pool company came and put it in place. All of the work Daren did looks top notch, and we are very satisfied.

The gas logs have sat unused in the fireplace for the last two years. I purchased the home and the logs were in disrepair. I had received a recommendation from a friend of mine about Indy Gas Works and called the company. Darren arrived promptly at 8 am and took a look at the system. He immediately told me that they were vented logs and explained the pros and cons for the gas logs. At my direction, he then proceeded to repair and put the logs back into service. I was genuinely impressed with the new look and warmth that the logs bring to my house. A quality job.

They came out to fit my glass in place after a previous contractor had failed to do so resulting in the glass breaking. After spending too much to replace the glass we could not get it to lock into place. Indy Gas Works came out and saw the problem quickly and fixed it with no problem. They also adjusted the controls and ordered a new remote, as I had melted the last one. I will absolutely use them again.

I called to schedule the appointment and was the told the technician would call me back. He called the same day and we agreed on the date and time for him to come down. He was right on time. He spread a tarp out on the hearth of the fireplace and the carpet around it to keep it clean which I really appreciated. He adjusted the valve and cleaned around the pilot light to fix the problem. He spent some time also educating me on the proper procedure to lighting the fireplace and maintaining the area around the valve. He completed the job without getting any soot or dirt at all on the hearth of the carpet.

He removed the logs, vacuumed and cleaned the interior and all parts, giving it a thorough safety inspection as well. He also cleaned the glass, then replaced all parts and turned on the fire, letting it burn until the fan came on, making sure it was all operating correctly before he left. He was thorough and efficient as well as very professional. This is the second time I have hired this company and was very pleased both times with their work.

Our landscaper used Indy Gas as a contractor. Darren came out and did all of the work. He did what was asked and was friendly. We ordered glass for our fire pit even though the selection was not that great and he didn't have samples. He delivered the glass and placed it in the pit before I could even look at it. However, it is beautiful so we kept it. We made payments along the way (over a 2 month period) and after all the work was done we received a final invoice. Two days after the final invoice he wanted full payment. We asked if we could pay in 2 - $600.00 payments and then Darren became very unfriendly. We paid all $1200 in the same week. He became unprofessional once final invoice was submitted. Work was done properly.

We had used them before. They did a great job. They were prompt, pleasant and clean. We will definitely use them again.

I called and was able to get an estimate within a week. We then scheduled the work about a week later when I already had a day off of work. He (Derek? Darren?) arrived on time and finished the job in about 3 hours. He showed me where he put a main shut off for the gas lines and showed me how to operate the gas fireplaces. I had a question or two and called him later that day. He was happy to answer my questions and even offered to come back out to explain if needed. It wasn't necessary, but it was nice of him to offer. He also offered an Angie's List discount of 10%.

I had not been able to operate my gas log fireplace for a long time. He came in and got it operational in no time flat and cleaned it thoroughly as well. He also checked out my other gas log fireplace to make sure it was working fine - at no extra charge. He was very professional and quick. It was top notch service.

Darrin was very thorough in performing the service on my fireplace. He was very neat and explained how the system worked. Overall, a very nice job.

Having found a great deal on a gas range, I needed to have a gas line run from the water heater to the range. Darren came, provided the estimate and did a great job getting everything done quickly. He even came on a Saturday. Before he left he took special care to be sure that the stove was level so assure even baking. Darren did a great job.

As you can tell from service performed it was Great. Three weeks later wish I had a tankless heater since I built the house. Thanks Again.

Installation was fine , did a nice job, took about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Problem began after installation. I paid with a credit card. Two weeks after I had a message on the home phone to give them a call. I returned the call left a message to call me on my cell phone and never heard back from them. A month after installation my wife gets a call from Darrin saying the credit card declined payment. She knew nothing about it told him she would call me and we would take care of it. Within a half an hour Darrin was at our home wanting payment, my wife called me and I spoke with him saying this is the first I've heard of this and I needed to check with the credit card first and if there was a problem I'll take care of it. As soon as I said I need to call the credit card company Darrin hung up on me stormed out of our house, shut off our gas put a lock on the meter and left. I called the office after this, which went straight to Darrin who again was extremely rude. I also talked to lady with their office who also hung up on me after I asked why they hadn't contacted me prior to this. I then called Vectren our gas company who sent five different people to cut the lock off our meter, filed a police report on Darrin and Indy Gas Works for locking the meter. After I checked with the credit card, I I I found out they put a hold on it because the card was not swiped just called in. I don't know why I didn't get a call from the credit card company either. I then paid the balance as I told them I would and also apologized for the problem. Needless to say they didn't do the same.

Everything about them was top notch. I will be installing a standby generator in about two weeks and will be calling them for that.

Citizens Gas had to shut off the gas to our home due to a gas leak. They couldn't determine exactly where the gas was leaking. Contacted Indy Gas Works in the morning, and they were at our home by 2:00 pm. Determined that the leak was where the gas line entered the basement. Repaired the leak and also installed shut-off valves for the fireplace, furnace, and hot water heater to prevent gas totally being shut off in the future for a leak.

Great! He was very helpful, professional, and pleasant. Our deck area is much improved & less cluttered and our grill works very well.
