Customer was told it was a Start Relay or the Compressor was out and we could not test for that and the repair would be a gamble. That was repeated 4 times to the customer before we did the repair. The repair didn't work so now he would need a new compressor and now is upset with his own decision. I also advised him on his washer at no cost. We could not have communicated this any better. The customer said he wanted to take a gamble on the refrigerator.

I called to see if I could get a technician to come and look at our freezer. My kitchen floor was flooded and water continued to flow from the ice maker. Donna called me back and when I couldn't answer her questions she became somewhat agitated and told me I had more than one problem. She asked me why I wasn't turning off the valve I told her I wasn't able she told me if I couldn't turn it off none of her technicians could and would not take the responsibility of breaking it. Not much help and not very understanding. If I knew how to fix it or exactly what the problem is I would not have called for help.

7 year old Kenmore dryer suddenly began making a loud noise. I called Indy Appliance around 7:30 am on a Monday morning, and Chris was able to come out that afternoon. Within half an hour he had it repaired by tightening the baffle screws - an inexpensive fix. Chris explained what he was doing during every step of the repair process, and verified it was working properly before leaving. Excellent and efficient service.

Chris, the repair technician, explained everything in detail. Since both of these appliances are very old, he explained the financial and estimated service projection of buying new parts for these appliances, or going ahead and buying new ones. He made clear that his explanations were “guesstimates;” one cannot predict 100% what old appliances will do. But based upon knowledge and experience, he presented the options. I felt he was honest and wanted to help. I will definitely call this company again when our appliances need repair. Donna, the office scheduler, was also very helpful and accommodating.

Day of appointment, Chris called to ask me some questions about how washer was performing. He had me try different actions and report performance. By this, he was able to determine I needed a new motor. Called me back after talking to manufacturer. Motor still being made and he could take care of my immediate problem, but he advised that some of other parts were already unavailable and convinced me not to repair, even though he would be losing business. I took his advice and bought a new washer and dryer. This is the BEST service provider I have ever used!! They have previously repaired my refrigerator and microwave. I would recommend them to anyone. Theirs is the ONLY business card I have on my refrigerator.

Individual Answering phone was very responsive and professional took information on what the issues were, appliance model and what was wrong with each gas appliance/ Terry called the day of service and asked why he was coming out, I was surprised he did not have this information. I explained the oven was not heating but the broiler, stove top and all other electrical worked fine and it was probably the igniter, Terry looked at the stove and said, yes it was the igniter and it would be about $250 to repair plus parts which he said he did not have because he thought he was fixing an electric oven and he would have to go back to the shop to get a part. He then said he could probably fix the dryer and that it was probably a fuse (I didn't know there were fuses on our dryer). he then asked if my husband was and quot;handy.and quot; He took the dryer apart, pulled the clip and igniter out, the drum out and stated it was not the igniter. He then asked it we had turned the gas valve off. I did not remember turning it off and called my husband to see if he had turned it off. I also asked how much for the igniter and said about $40 he said about that...proceeded to look up the part on the internet and saw it was $15 - $20 part. He than said it was not the igniter but the regulator and it would be about $350 to repair. I said I did not want to spend this on the dryer. So he shut the dryer top and left an igniter and clip on the top without replacing. My husband who was on the phone asked me to inquire about the cost for a simple igniter replacement. Terry then kept asking, well do you just want to do it yourself and save $300? I said, no this is why I called an appliance repair company. He left for about 20 minutes, saying there was another technician in the area who had the igniter for a gas oven so he didn't have to go all the way to the shop. He then opened the oven, (I was watching this whole process) He connected something and there was a sparkle, flash, pop and I said.. and quot;that didn't sound goodand quot; He then said, it blew out his new igniter and so it was probably not the igniter that was bad. He proceeded to take the panel off the back of the stove and told me the problem was the control board and it was not allowing power to the igniter . this was why igniter was not working and it would be about $350 for part and to replace as well as the cost to replace the igniter. He said it was not worth it and maybe the appliance repair store could give me a discount on an oven dryer combo and to be sure to buy the extended warranty on the stove so I didn't have this problem in the future. He said newer stoves are not meant to last long. (ours is 5 or 6 years old). He then took the igniter laying on the dryer and left the clip. He also said the heat coming from the oven and venting out the stove was a defective design and caused the board to go bad (take note Maytag) I was charged a 19.95 for the service call. Note this low inspection fee is why called them in the first place because other companies charged $50 inspection fee. Beware of this when searching for appliance repair because Indy Appliance definitely thought they would make the money in repair fees. I then told someone I trust about this and they came out the next day and looked at both. Here is what they found. Dryer: It was difficult to tell about the igniter because Indy Appliance Tech took the part with him and did not replace the clip, nor the seal on the drum. After putting a new igniter ($20 part ) and also replaced the coil ($20) part. Friend/tech had to re install the seal on the drum. Dryer works. Shame on you Indy Appliance Repair Oven: Friend/tech showed how Indy Appliance Repair took igniter and did not replace parts inside oven. Individual said there had to be power and a working board electricity in order to get the sparkle/pop when the Indy Appliance Repair tech installed the igniter and turned it on. We purchased a new board $250 and friend/tech installed it and new igniter. Friend stated board controlling stove would have had to be operational in order to get the spark and it was most likely the Appliance technician that blew the board when I saw and heard the sparkle pop during his repair. Very very disappointed with Indy Appliance repair who not only were deceitful but took my original parts, did not fix a thing and left components of both appliances in pieces behind closed doors

You called us out to diagnose the problem so you could fix it yourself. That is why you fixed it yourself. Not difficult for the technician to figure out. The technician did not take you part and in fact left our igniter that burnt out because of your faulty Control Board on the machine. He told you what was wrong on both machines for 19.95 when we normally charge that per each appliance. Shame on you for insinuating we came out and caused the oven to malfunction when that is why you called us in the first place. I guess you can't please them all, especially for 19.95 to diagnose 2 appliances.

After weeks of working with he tech, I was out about $330 and the problem was unsolved. Having observed some of his work, I bought a $40 part - the part that was actually failing all along - and replaced it myself. Problem solved. I had suggested replacing that part - a micro switch - earlier. The tech was friendly, but clearly over his head in tackling this problem. He also was slow to return calls. I remain surprised that the company would charge me for a part that didn't fix the problem at the time. I simply didn't want to deal with them anymore.
Description of Work: The issue was the water dispenser on my refrigerator. It turned on for no reason, pouring water on the floor. I called the company and the tech told me that it could be expensive to fix and that he could not test electronic components. When he came out, and opened the dispenser assembly, it appeared the issue could have been caused by one of three components. He first replaced the most expensive one. He told me it was burned out, but since he couldn't test it, I just had to take his word. Didn't fix it. still had to pay for it. Then he returned with a theory that the problem had to do with the water supply valves. Didn't make sense to me. Didn't work. Eventually didn't have to pay for that one. After another visit or two, the tech told me that he was "walking away" because the problem had to have been caused by faulty wiring somewhere in the refrigerator. Finding the problem would take hours, he said.

Initial contact, scheduling and appointment went well. Chris was running late and called ahead which was appreciated. Owner was informed of approx. cost of repair. Within 20 mins the refrigerator was supposedly fixed with a new start relay. Technician felt that this was the problem but did warn it might be a compressor but the compressor on this refrigerator was the best available. Initially the unit started to cool but after a few days it did not come down to rated temperature so my wife called Indy Appliances back. The technician came back and pretty much told her the compressor was bad. My issue with Indy Appliance and this repair philosophy is the customer can, like I did end up paying a lot of money for a repair that was insufficient and did not fix the problem. There must be a better level of troubleshooting that identifies the root cause so the customers are faced a clearer understanding of the root cause. This was a simple case of throwing money out the window which I did not appreciate.

[member name removed], The compressor is a steel ball that is welded closed. There is no way to meter the components. I showed you this before I made the repair. I could not have been more clear about it being a gamble. There are very few parts we cannot use a meter to check that the part is ok. This is one unfortunately. Which I did notify you of this problem. After going over the policy on Start Relays at least three times I am at a loss how you could possibly blame Indy Appliance Repair.

Called Donna, the owner, to schedule service. While we were on the phone, there was a misunderstanding that they do not service 24 hours a day. Once the appointment was scheduled for the next morning, the technician arrived on time. The technician replaced the relay on the refrigerator for approximately $290. Once we received a recept from the technician we were informed that the compressor was not under warranty (compressor was never worked on). After the technician left the fridge attempted to turn on and cool but did not succeed. The same problem as before was reoccurring. When we, the consumer, called and spoke with Donna again she informed us that the diagnosis the technician gave was not a guarantee and she would send out a technician once again. After the technician explained that it was in fact our compressor we asked for our $290 back for a relay we never needed. The technician took the relay he had once put in and referred us to call Donna. In a final conversation with Donna she said she would give us $100 back in and quot;Good faithand quot;. After threatening to talk to the BBC Donna said she would not be sending anything. In the end the only thing received was a visit from a technician on two occasions. According to their policy that is valued at $20. To the company: This is not a fraudulent review. Our refridgerator was not fixed, and there is nothing in your policy's about no refund, you even took the part that you originally installed, and sent back over the tech without an appoitment to give it back. And we accepted any money that you offered us. A company cannot be upfront without any policy's on a recipt that is signed by the customer. We are still waiting for the and quot;partial refundand quot; and this was 2 weeks ago.

Member was told before the repair was made that the compressor could also have a problem. The compressor is a sealed unit. You cannot check it with a meter. Member was informed that repairing the start relay is only a 50/50 chance. She then called Member and told him that it may not fix the problem but there is no warranty so it is a gamble. All this was done before the repair was made. We even offered a partial refund which we told him upfront that we don't do on this repair. After the compressor originally started and the refrigerator had a frost pattern we had them sign the reciept showing what we already confirmed that there is no warrantee on the compressor. I don't know how more upfront a company could be. This is a fraudulant review.

Our refrigerator died on a Friday night and they came out Saturday within an hour of us calling. They didn't have the computer to fix the broken fridge but when I mentioned we had one in the garage that wasn't working, he offered to look at that. He figured out the problem and had that one fixed (so we at least had one working refrigerator!) within 30 minutes. VERY happy with his work, his demeanor and quality of work.

The lid switch on my clothes washer failed, which is a very minor repair. It happened that the company had a repairman in the area, so the response was very quick. Replacing the switch would have been about $150, but he said he would wire it out for $100, which is the option I chose. He was amiable and completed the repair in under five minutes. No problem at all with his work, pleasant attitude, and communication skills. I choke, though, on $100 for such quick work, but the company charges by the job, not the time. I think they should have been content with half of what they charged.
Description of Work: The washer lid switch failed. The repairman rewired the washer to eliminate the need for this flimsy safety device.
