Howald Heating Air Conditioning and Plumbing

They are coming in a few weeks for the air conditioner. I have a plan and I don't know the cost but it is resonable. They are punctual and they are good. It is family run. They do plumbing but I have only used them for heating and AC. Everything is an 'A' for them on the grading scale.

At first I though great. Installed in a relatively reasonable amount of time. However after the unit malfunctioned it was a horrible ordeal. Emails were not returned in a timely manner and as detailed before I was charged for fixes that fixed nothing. Ultimately I agreed to pay the $450 minus the charge for the service that was ineffective. To my surprise when I called back this was no longer the case and was charged the entire price, despite the previous agreement. Needless to say I will not use this company again and neither should you. Installed a mini split system provides by a third party company. The system never worked properly and after being charged an additional $160 they told me partof the unit was broken. The piece was sent and I was charged an additional $450 to install this.

Larry Wright, service tech, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable and very personable. He sized up the problem, got the OK to do the work from Ed Kittle at Howald Heating, and finished it as quickly as possible. The system seems to be working great. Howald Heating unselfishly worked with Bruce Davis,Carrier rep, to do the work Indiana HVAC Services was paid to do, but didn't. My thanks to both Howald Heating and Carrier. The $49 I paid was for furnace filter that needed to replaced.

We priced the air conditioner replacement in October of 2014 so that we could save the money up before the install in the spring. Unlike others, Tim priced exactly what we needed and provided an written (e-mail) of our exact options. Several months later, I called to schedule and asked if he wanted to requite. I figured that after 6 months the price would have gone up. It didn't he matched the price to the dollar that he originally quoted. Tony the installer arrived at the home at the exact time we had scheduled. He was courteous, friendly, and efficient. He was nearly done when he let me know that he was going to run to the office and get a tool he needed. He also let me know that he would be grabbing lunch and might be gone a little while. He was back within the hour! The whole install process took less than 6 hours (including Tony's lunch break). The house was getting a bit warm but only took about 30 minutes to cool off once Tony set it to run. A few days after the install, I received a final "paid in full" invoice and the print out of the registration. They had already registered the product in my name and insured I got the full 10 year warranty. I am very happy with Howald Heating and Air Conditioning. The salesman, the installer, the inspectors, and the office staff made sure that it was a seamless replacement for me. I will be using them for our annual maintenance and will use them when the furnace eventually needs to be replaced.

It was a good experience. They were cautious, polite and came on time. I think they knew what they were doing. They asked a few questions to set their work. They did a very good job for me. I would use them once again.

During the course of the annual service on our 15 year old a/c unit the technician advised that it was losing coolant and showing its age. We made appointment for Larry Howald to come out and quote replacement. He spent a lot of time answering our questions and offered three different levels of Carrier units. They were able to schedule the replacement within the week.Two technicians - Lawrence and Troy - were here promptly on the scheduled day and reviewed the work and process with us. They were extremely personable and professional and went right to work. Because the furnace is 9 years old, many modifications were necessary so that it would be compatible with the new high efficiency a/c. They determined they needed part(s), which were delivered by another member of the Howald team. It took an entire day to complete the work and then they explained to us, in detail, the new system. Lawrence also took the time to explain the new furnace filters, how they work and the procedures for setting and changing settings on the new thermostat. The placement of the unit was changed to another side of the house and this required lots of time spent in our crawl space. When they were finished, they did a great job of cleaning up all the work areas. It was nice to learn that they recycle all the parts of the old unit as well as all packaging, etc on the new unit. They carefully sorted items in order to accomplish this. There is a sign in our front yard that says "Another Satisfied Howald Customer"' and that is definitely true in our case.

all went great. removed 2 old water heaters, Larry let me know that 1 water heater will do the job since we only have 2 people in the house. thanks Larry for a job well done.

They said they would arrive between 10-12. They called and arrived at 1150. Frank introduced himself. He replaced the air filter I had purchased. He checked the air conditioner. I signed up for another year of tune ups. I have used them for about 5 years. (They had a different name a while back)

Great. On time, explained everything very well, very professional.

Austin arrived on schedule, and was very friendly and professional. Another fellow came to help move the heater and softener, as well as Ed Kittle, who provided the quote, to check on the progress. They disconnected and reconnected a drain from the furnace too, with no additional cost added. On Saturday Austin called and said he got a call from a hotel, they had a water line break, so he asked if he could come later than originally planned, to which I agreed. He arrived about two hours later than originally scheduled. The work was done well, they were a pleasure to work with, and we are happy with the results.

It meets my needs and the price didn’t get my attention, so it is a fair price. They respond to my needs.

This was overall a great experience. I had another company come out last year to take a look at our system and it was not a great experience. Dustin from Howald came out and was able to give me comprehensive solutions and suggestions on how to get the most out of our current system as well as options to replace it as it is nearly 25 years old. His professionalism and attention to detail was light years beyond what I had experienced with the company who came out before them!!

Dan came just a few hours after our call. He was friendly, professional, competent, and thorough. He worked from the top down to diagnose and solve the problem of sludge build-up in the water trap in the 90+ furnace, and he shared with me all his work. And he had heat back on only a few hours after the furnace had failed. In addition, John from Howald had done a likewise good job of furnace maintenance earlier.

Needed several items fixed from our buyer's inspection report (selling our house). We've used Howald before in the HVAC realm with great experiences, so figured why not use them for plumbing, too? Steve Kessler was our technician and he was professional. honest and fair...explained everything he needed to do and what the cost was for each item. None of the fixes ended up being 'simple' by any means...he tried several different things on each item in order to get them to work. Great job! All for what I thought was very reasonable pricing. Will use them again for sure.

We have never had a bad experience. They are fair and prompt. They do very good work!

This experience could not have been better. We were unable to reach the installing contractor and Howald was referred by the manufacturer. Not only did we get our new geo furnace fixed, we found the HVAC contractor we want to use for routine maintenance.

The technician, JD, was prompt, friendly, professional and informative, giving me costs and options as well as thoroughly explaining what needed to be done and why. Howald is my new go-to company for heating and air conditioning. I'd sure give them a try on plumbing next time too. A great experience!!

They may be just a bit more expensive than others, but they spend the time and do a thorough job. I've never been disappointed with their maintenance service or their plumbing service which I've used to repair toilets, fix garbage disposal and clear pipes.

I have been using them for over two years now. Everything continues to be great. Sometimes it is different technicians who come out and they are always professional knowledgeable. They do a great job. I would recommend them to others.

The technician arrived promptly, did the routine maintenance, and was courteous and friendly. Have used this company for several years and always been pleased with their service.

We called Howald because two tubs and a sink were draining slowly. We got an appointment very quickly. The plumber was prompt, tidy, and professional. He got two drains working well. The third drain, in the guest bathroom, did not respond when he tried to clear it. He crawled into the crawl space and saw the pipe was broken and there was standing water in the crawl space. He gave an estimate for replacement of this drain and one other, which currently cannot be snaked. We were happy with both the charge for today's service call and the estimate for the drain replacement. Compared to other plumbing companies we really prefer Howald for the following reasons. They explain the situation using easy to understand language and without talking down to us. They do not try to oversell us, always giving options. They remain calm when confronted with surprises with our quirky plumbing and are willing to try various solutions. Their prices are lower than other companies we have used, and they are much easier to deal with.

This was great. Instead of a more expensive replacement which for us would have involved cutting into the basement ceiling the plumber suggested trying to rebuild it outside. He was able to do this much mor cost effectively. Very polite and knowledgeable. The young plumber who came is a third generation plumber, so that's a lot of collective ability I think.
