HOOSIER HANDYMAN

I contacted Hoosier Handyman and two other companies for a quote for the work we wanted to perform. Marc was the first to respond and scheduled a meeting to review our property and provide a quote very quickly. His written estimate was very professionally written and included all aspects of the work we asked him to perform. Once we received the other offers, we determined to work with Hoosier Handyman even though they weren't the overall lowest quote primarily due to Marc's easy-going manner and professionalism. Once we engaged Hoosier Handyman to perform the work, Marc set a clear schedule with deadlines as to when the project would be completed. Although there were a couple of minor snags in the schedule along the way, the work was completed very well and Marc and his team came in right on budget. Overall, we were incredibly pleased with Marc's work and would recommend him to any of our friends.

Company never returned my phone call to discuss work that needed to be done.

Door handle on entry door to our home, through the garage was not working well (would spin and/or stick instead of opening). I couldn't figure out how to remove the door handle to replace it. Called Hoosier Handyman, Marc Devine. Marc was able to work me in on a Friday before the Christmas holiday (while he was getting ready to go out of town with his family for the holiday). Marc was able to remove the door handle pretty quickly. Marc also took measurements of two bedrooms and dining room to give me a quote on measuring and cutting toe/shoe molding around base boards (which I can paint and install). Marc will send me quote on this after the holidays. Very quick to respond. Good service. Good work. Would use Hoosier Handyman, Marc Devine for other projects I can't do myself. And, would recommend to friends.

He is a master at matching ceiling textures. He is also very conscientious with money he comes up with ideas to save money with the repairs.

Not well. He never returned my call.

Called and left a couple of messages set a time to meet and Mark didn't show up and didn't call.

The response to the email was prompt. He declined to even give an estimate do to the fact he does not work that far north.

Mark was just great. He's the owner. He works by himself. He was just great, he was efficient, has good ideas, points out things that he notices that might need repair or attended to. He just has a very pleasant personality and all-around nice guy. He was good in all respects.

No work performed. Spoke with Marc Devine who indicated he could do the job I described, but he needed to call me back; it wasn't convenient for him to talk then. That was fine, but I was out in the yard when he called back. He left a message that he'd be in our neighborhood the next morning and if we would like for him to stop by, to call him. I did call, did not get him on the phone, left a message and have never heard anything since.

Marc is great! He's very knowledgeable and he completes the work that he does to perfection. More specifically, he clearly spelled out what he would be doing in his estimate. He was able to do the work about 2 weeks after we called him. He came to the house when he said he would and completed everything in 2 days. On the second day he was running a little late because of car trouble. He called before he was due at our house to let me know. He pays great attention to detail, which is the way I like to have things done. It is impossible to see where the work was done. It looks fabulous. I've already arranged for Marc to do some additional work for us. I'm so pleased to find a wonderful handyman.

Mark came out and repaired the ceiling damage and other projects. He hung plenty of plastic from the walls and on the floor, and even placed canvas coming in from the outside and leading to his project to collect debris. The ceiling was left smooth without splatter texture (per estimate). The door and subfloor projects were not entirely corrected due to the quality of the house, but they were completed to my satisfaction. Mark would come and show me his work and the impossibilities dealing with the quality. He was able to correct the issues to my satisfaction. Mark cleaned up his own messes, but I told him to leave the plastic and drywall mess so that I could have the ceiling texturized and painted immediately. The only detracter was punctuality. Appointment was for 8am, Mark called at 8:40, and showed up just before 10am. Overall a great experience.

The work went very well. It was first thought that the water damage may have been due to leaks in the roof. However, the roof had been previously repaired and the damage continued to get worse. It was determined that the water was coming from a broken elbow in the exhaust pipe from the furnace. The pipe was routed across the damage area and angled upward through the roof. Additional minor repair, caulking, was done to the chimney flashing and other pipes protruding through the roof.

We had a need to have a closet in our bedroom expanded and an adjacent closet made smaller to accommodate the larger closet. Mark gave us an estimate and made some additional suggestions for the project. When we accepted his estimate of work, he scheduled and completed the work on time. We were very impressed with Marc's professionalism and work ethic.

Marc provided an estimate after his first visit and the finished work was less than the estimate. His attention to detail, as always, was first-rate and the price was reasonable. He also cleaned up after he finished.

The nice part is that he offered to pick up the pieces, that I needed from the hardware store and he assured he would get the pieces that would fit, which he did! Came just when he said he would. Cleaned up after himself, with absolutely no mess. Scheduled so that it was convenient for us. His price was right on! We were most satisfied and will definitely call him again.

He was available on an overnight basis, which was wonderful because I needed someone immediately. We were very happy with this. Professional, competent & good quality work.

This door had been a problem since another installer put it in three years ago. Marc was able to take the time and show us what was done wrong and then he set about correcting the problem. He then took the time to look over a couple of other projects that we had in mind, and we plan on calling him back for those when the wind dies down.

Marc is very professional and does a great job. He also is very flexible with his time.

Very satisfied with the results at both of my homes. The quality of work is excellent and the cost is reasonable. Marc has mentioned to me that he enjoys working with wood, but he is talented in working with just about any material.

The worker showed up on time, provided an estimate for the work, completed the work in a reasonable amount of time and cleaned up after the work was done.

This is the second time (and last time) that I have called the Hoosier Handyman to perform work at my home. On both occasions I have called and left messages including my home phone number and have not received a return call. I am surprised that a business such as this one would treat a potential customer in this manner. Maybe they have so much business that they do not need customers or it may be that this is what you can expect from a business that claims to be "professional".

I left a message for Marc requesting an estimate for building deck steps. I never received a return call.
