I felt many of the suggestions that were made were very good, however, if your home is not the flavor of the moment with regard to window treatments (nothing on them), colors, and you might not have the latest and greatest in furniture, be prepared to feel like crap afterwards. I felt like the whole process was condescending, and did not care for it.

This was money well spent as we needed expert advise to make our home more attractive to potential buyers. Maureen came to do the evaluation. She was professional, friendly and a pleasure to meet and work with. She did a wonderful job of prioritizing recommendations for each area of our home. She had great suggestions for using present decor and furniture in other rooms. Very aware of how lighting, size, shapes, colors etc would appear when photographed or videoed. We're much more confident about how our house will appear when put on the market. Hope to report later staging helped sell our house quickly!! Thank you, thank you Maureen.

This was a life saver. The consultation was easy to schedule. Maureen came promptly and we spent about 1 hour walking through my home as if she were a buyer. She talked me through the recommendations for each room as I took notes (there is an option for Home matters to note the recommendations and send you a document with them later but it costs a bit more). She moved furniture around and answered all my questions over the next hour. The service includes follow up questions over the next few months too so I can double check to see if I'm on track. This was a big relief for me.
Description of Work: Gave me detailed instructions on how to market my home when I list it. Where to put furniture, what colors to paint, repairs to make, what to put in storage.

Our home had been for sale for about 60 days. We had close to a dozen showings but no offers. We called Home Matters for recommendations to improve our home to attract potential buyers. She went through every room of our home and gave us specific feedback on what needed to be dome to make the home more attractive to buyers. Most of the recommendations involved moving furniture or adding accessories. She explained the reasoning behind her suggestions and even provided resources for getting some of the bigger jobs done. She was extremely professional and great to work with. WE had only accomplished about 75% of the recommendations she offered before we had our next showing. But that next visitor made an offer and bought the house. Within 2 weeks of the Home Matters visit, our home was sold. Next time I will call them first. Our Realtor said staging companies were a waste of money, not in my opinion. If you really want to sell your home call Home Matters first.

I was pleased with her service. It was definitely well worth it. She was very gentle with her approach and gave suggestions in a very nice way. She was also very pleasant and seemed to be knowledgeable in current trends.

We are trying to prepare our home for sale. I contacted Home Services through Angie's List and got a return call right away, explaining the services offered and different prices. I scheduled for later in the week to have a two hour consultation. Greg Henry and a new employee, Autumn, came to our home. They were prompt, efficient, and offered us wonderful advice for staging our home for sale. The biggest help for us was the assistance in choosing wall color for each room. My mom was present and had recently paid $500 for someone to help her with only wall color. She was also impressed with the service provided and plans to use their services in the future. Great service and value for the money. Well done!

We actually had 2 different people working with us from Home Matters. First time around, it was one of Linda's employee who came to our house to do the home evaluation and report. Everything went fine. We originally planned on using them to stage our house for sale so I requested a quote from them. There was a miscommunication on the quote and we were unhappy about it. We spoke to Linda about our complaints and she was willing to work with us. She did a second walk through to evaluate our home and provided us with a second quote. During the walkthrough she gave us a lot of insights and comments on things we should look for in selling a house. It was unfortunate that we ended up not going through with the actual staging of our house due to unforseen circumstances but Linda was very understanding. I would definitely use her in the future if I ever need to stage any of my properties. I would highly recommend her to others.

Greg came out to our house and did a wonderful job outlining what needed to be done from ideas on paint, to reusing photos, mirrors, etc. in different parts of our home than where they were currently placed. He gave suggestions on what to take out, what to slipcover, and very valuable suggestions about our bathrooms, and ideas for our living room and family room. Greg was very personable, wonderfully comprehensive in his suggestions, and very helpful in color ideas. My husband was more tentative about some of the suggestions when we began to implement them, so on two occasions I emailed Greg about ideas for lighting; he then emailed back promptly with ideas, along with photos of those ideas. My husband and I are not Sabrina Soto (Get It Sold on HGTV) so Greg was invaluable. At any age, we can all use some hand holding! We have decided to have Home Matters come back next spring and stage a few rooms for us, after three months of intensive makeover of our house based on Greg's suggestions! He is a gem, and his plan clearly 'do-able'.
Description of Work: We had a person come out to assess our home and what needed to be done before selling our house in a year. A room by room assessment was done, along with a detailed report for our own use.

Before we put our house on the market we wanted a professional stager to give us ideas on what we could do to help us sell. Linda and Karen arrived on time for appointment and were very pleasant to work with. It can all be very over whelming. They gave us a lot of good ideas and critisism. We will give an update when our house is finally on the market and the offers start coming.

On Sunday we had our open house and on Monday...WE HAD OUR FIRST OFFER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am blown away! We also have a back up offer coming on Tuesday!!! KUDOS HOME MATTERS AND PAM R.!!! Thanks!!!!
Description of Work: We had a rep, Pam R.come out from Home Matters. We had not had a showing in 4 weeks on our home and it had been listed for 90 days. Pam came in and spent 2 hours talking about critical items that needed attention. Our home was in great condition but just needed some small important changes. She gave me ideas and a punch list. She met me back at the house on Friday for a 4 hour session and we worked like MAD on our home. She did an AMAZING job!!! We had a vacant home listed for sale for six weeks and we were getting several showings but people were commenting that the living room and dining room were small. I spoke with Linda so she was aware of the issue and we were very pleased with the end results. She explained that having furniture and accessories in the space, it could actually appear larger. It worked. We had an accepted offer 35 days after the home was staged for 97% of our list price. In this market, we were thrilled. Home Matters was very easy to work with and they take great pains to work with your schedule. Overall, great job!

We listed a vacant home for sale in July and after 5 weeks we had a lot of interest but no deal. We heard from Realtor comments that buyers considered the living room and dining room too small. Linda was able to stage the home so people could see that the rooms really were not too small. We had an accepted offer by Sept 29th so that means within 35 days of staging the home, it was sold. Great results! They were great to work with from start to finish and we will definitely use them again.

Met with Linda on one of her designers to stage a home we had listed fior sale. The home had been on the market for 60 days with very few showings. Linda is very professional and had some great ideas. The delivery and pick up of the furnishings went flawlessly. The staging looked great! We received nothing but positive comments. Since market condtions made a sale problematic, we decided to lease the home. The first people who looked at it snatched it up. I am convinced the staging helped influence their decision. I was so please with Home Matters that I used them on another home I had listed.

Went well from beginning to end. We met at the home and made up a plan. She sent me a few options and pricing. We finished the overall plan then implemented it.

Everything went well, this company does a good job I have used them multiple times for consultation and this time for staging.
Description of Work: I am a realtor and I use home matters to advise my clients of what they can do to improve the time on market. This home they staged for two months at a clost of approximately $1700.00. The cost after the first two months is approximately $400.

Before Linda arrived at our house, she had already driven through and observed our neighbor to see the demographics and to determine what type of buyer was most likely to be interested in buying there. Then, from the time she arrived at our house for an initial two-hour consultation, she was giving us non-stop advice on how to prepare our house for sale. She told us which light fixtures to replace (to match the other finishes), what carpet needed to be replaced (and what style/color), what needed to be caulked, even what color (complete with product number) to paint the walls. She left no corner unobserved, nor any space uncritiqued, both inside and outside. And, although I felt like rolling my eyes in disbelief at some of her suggestions, (for instance, I loved my Spanish Red kitchen and dining room walls), I followed her advice and even painted over my beloved color. (But, as she said, we weren't going to be living there much longer.) Then, after we had done our "assignments", she returned with her team, along with furniture, accessories, and art to stage our house for the market. From start to finish, everyone was very professional and pleasant to work with. And although it was a lot of work and we were concerned we were throwing away our hard-earned money, we were very glad we did; because, our house sold in 37 days; and, we only had to lower our asking price slightly in this "soft" buyers' market.
Description of Work: The Home Matters team staged the first floor of our house, which included the living room, dining room, family room, kitchen, as well as the master bedroom upstairs, and three bathrooms. This was after an initial two-hour consultation a few weeks earlier.

Linda came out and went from room to room and spent two hours here looking at each room. She gave me tips on what to improve and what to remove from the room to improve the selling value. She gave me recommendations on paint colors. She also provided a list of service providers that might be helpful for some of the work that she had suggested. She also offered the second set of services which was like home staging process once we got to the point of selling the house and getting the rooms ready. However, we were not yet at that stage. So we got other services she could provide. I would use their services in the future too.
Description of Work: I had asked Home Matters in March to come in and give me some tips for improving my home in order to get it ready for selling.

It went very well. I would definitely do it again if selling another home. It was worth the money. She went into plenty of detail so that we were able to implement many of the changes on our own.
Description of Work: Consultant spent about 2 hours walking through each area of the home making suggestions (in writing) on changes to improve the sale of our home. When she was finished she left me with a nice notebook including the completed worksheet. She emailed me a quote within 2 days for her to do the stage and rent pieces, but I felt no pressure to go that route.

Linda Barnett went through my house with me, room by room, and explained in detail how to present each room when I sell my house - she told me why, what buyers look for, the good points and drawbacks of my house. Exceptional! They pointed out things I would not have considered, but made a huge difference. They truly are experts and well worth hiring. They offer different packages, depending on whether you want to make the changes yourself or have them do it.
Description of Work: Walked through my entire home with me, for over 2 hours, and recommended changes to make my home appeal more to buyers. They (Linda and Danielle) were very thorough, gave options, and a list of 'tried and true' service providers for any work I preferred to hire out.
