+ -1 moreThey held on to my $200 for a year. And, I still don't have any grids. I was the one who always had to initiate communication. Where are the grids? Where are we in the process? I was willing to be patient as long as they were working on it. So now, after a year, I have to start over. I think that maybe it was more trouble for them then what it was worth.
Description of Work: In June of 2005 I had them measure for grids. They tried to deliver them twice. Both times they were cut incorrect.

We made the order and within a few weeks the door was installed. At our request, Heartwood did not install the deadbolt that came with the door. Everyone we dealt with at Heartwood was friendly, helpful and professional. We would call them again.
Description of Work: Heartwood installed a new storm door.

Description of Work: Home was built in 2000 and our builder(Zaring) went bankrupt. We had been trying to find someplace where we could buy a storm door to fit our front door. We learned Zaring used NON standard size front doors leaving us with a problem of needing a custom made storm door. Heartwood Enterprises had put a French door system in for us in the back of our house 3 yrs. ago.(another Zaring problem!) Heartwood had done a good job so we called them. They had to build a frame(which we will paint) for the storm door, but they were able to order a custom door & install it nicely!

+ -1 moreReceived estimate in a timely fashion, but had difficulty obtaining a response when we called to schedule the installation. On the day of installation, it was cold outside, so installers took measurements and returned doors to their warehouse for cutting. The doors were cut incorrectly with gaps at the top and sides. We registered a concern, Heartwood then sent another specialist in an attempt to rectify the mis-cut. At the moment, it appears the correction may have worked, but will not know for sure until warm weather.
Description of Work: Measured and installed exterior doors to storage shed.

I HAD PREVIOUSLY USED THEM SEVERAL YEARS AGO TO INSTALL NEW WINDOWS SO I CALLED THEM THINKING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE INSTALLATION OF ONE OF THE WINDOWS. ADRIAN, THE OWNER CAME OUT TO INSPECT THE PROBLEM AND AFTER A THOROUGH INSPECTION FOUND WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS (NOT THE WINDOW). I ASKED FOR HIS ESTIMATE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AND HAD IT WITHIN A DAY. WORK WAS SCHEDULED A WEEK LATER AND EVERYTHING WENT LIKE CLOCKWORK. THEY EVEN CALLED AFTER A COUPLE OF HEAVY RAINS TO INSURE THAT THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN FIXED AND THERE WERE NO LEAK ISSUES.
Description of Work: FOUND THE SOURCE OF A LEAK THAT WAS ALLOWING WATER TO SEEP INTO OUR HOME AROUND A WINDOW. TURNS OUT IT WASN'T THE WINDOW BUT RATHER SOME ROTTEN WOOD WHERE A PORCH ROOF MET THE SIDING THAT WASN'T ORIGINALLY FLASHED CORRECTLY. THE AREA WAS NOT VIEWABLE AND THEREFORE ROTTEN AWAY UNSEEN UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE TO PREVENT THE DAMAGE. ADRIAN FOUND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM AND HIS CREW REMOVED AND REPLACED ALL OF THE ROTTED WOOD. IN ADDITION THEY REFLASHED THE AREA AND RESHINGLED THE AREA OF THE PORCH. HAD THEM ALSO REPLACE SOME OTHER ROTTED WOOD SIDING TO PREVENT FUTURE PROBLEMS.

FINALLY, WE CALLED HEARTWOOD & THEIR TECHNICIAN KNEW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO. HE HAS COLLECTED SEVERAL LOCKS JUST LIKE OURS, WHICH YOU CAN NO LONGER BUY, SO HE WAS ABLE TO REPAIR THE DOOR. WISH WE HAD DONE THIS YEARS AGO. GREAT THAT THE DOOR COULD BE FIXED INSTEAD OF REPLACED. HE ALSO QUICKLY FIXED TWO BEDROOM DOORS THAT WERE NOT CLOSING PROPERLY. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE COMPANY FOR DOOR REPAIR.

I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A SERVICE MAN THAT LIVED IN MY AREA, AND THAT HE WOULD MEET ME AT MY HOUSE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. COME 8:45, NO ONE SHOWED UP. CALLED THE OFFICE. WAS TOLD THEY MEET AT THE OFFICE FIRST THEN LEAVE FOR APPOINTMENTS AT 8:30. 9:30, STILL NO ONE (SHOULD HAVE TAKEN 1/2 HOUR DRIVE). CALLED OFFICE. SAID THE PERSON WAS LOOKING FOR THE HOUSE. 9:55, WAS ABOUT TO CALL TO CANCEL WHEN THE SERVICEMAN ARRIVED. ASK HIM WHAT WAS GOING ON, AND HE SAID HE HAD TROUBLE FINDING THE HOUSE (EVER HEAR OF A PHONE)? TOLD HIM THAT I WAS READY TO CALL TO CANCEL THE APPOINTMENT, AND WE NEEDED TO GET TO WORK. SERVICEMAN SAID, IF I WANTED TO CANCEL IT DIDN'T MAKE MUCH DIFFERENCE TO HIM. WITH THAT, I TOLD HIM TO LEAVE, AND THAT I DIDN'T EXPECT A BILL FOR NON-SERVICE.

Description of Work: FIRST CAME OUT ON A SERVICE CALL TO INSPECT WINDOWS. THE SERVICE CALL WAS $75.00. I HAVE 13 WINDOWS AND THE SERVICEMAN INSPECTED ALL OF THEM AS I REQUESTED. HE FOUND EIGHT THAT NEEDED REPAIR - NEW BALANCES. HE TOOK ONE OF THE FAULTY BALANCES WITH HIM AND ORDERED 8 SETS OF NEW BALANCES - TWO FOR EACH WINDOW. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER, HE CAME BACK AND INSTALLED THE BALANCES. BALANCE COST WAS $138.45 AND LABOR WAS $40.00.

MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE COMPANY DID NOT CALL US TO LET US KNOW THAT THEIR REPRESENTATIVE WAS RUNNING SO LATE--WE HAD TO CALL THEM TO INQUIRE (THAT'S WHY B FOR RESPONSIVENESS). THE NEXT TIME IT RAINS, WE WILL SEE IF THIS REPAIR DID THE JOB. IF NOT, WE WILL PROBABLY REPLACE THE ENTIRE UNIT.
