The job went very smoothly indeed. Chris and Joe were professional, punctual, and very easy to work with. They were both sensitive to our plans and fears (you know you have them when you have this big a project) and sensitive to our budget. They were also creative in their solutions, which is something you certainly want but don't always find you have in remodeling help. For example, we mentioned our basement, which was remodeled into both a study and a storage area, neither of which we ever thought we'd have, and the aforementioned amazing "dog spa," solving the problem of how to invite company who don't love your dogs as much as you do. They also suggested some features we wouldn't have thought to request, for example, they rewired our computers and TVs, achieving a synchrony we hadn't expected and have so much enjoyed. They solved any problems that came up quickly and well. The quality of their work was exceptionally high. We recommend them very highly; if we needed to have any further work done, we will definitely call Green Men Restoration and know we would be lucky to have them.
Description of Work: We knew we needed to remodel our home, a small bungalow, after 20+ years of applying bandaids and bandages rather than true solutions. (The estimate above includes some materials.) We chose Green Men Restoration because of one review in particular on Angie's List, one that emphasized the expertise of Green Men in many areas as well as their responsibility in terms of doing what they said they would do when they said they would do it. Green Men Restoration has one associated characteristic that proved helpful: If they did not have the expertise required--for example, in extensive electrical rewiring--they know the exact firm to use. This was crucial, since the work that ended up being needed was much more than any of us had known. The artisans, Chris and Joe, did the work in two stages. In Summer 2014, they painted the exterior of the house, including the garage and the porch. (Reviewed separately under "Exterior painting.") They have the licensure to test old paint (like our porch) for environmental friendliness, and this came in handy when repainting and redesigning that area. While doing this work, they also worked with us on a plan for the general remodeling. It might make us sound somewhat spineless, but our limited knowledge of renovation made us happy to follow Chris and Joe's suggestions at just about every point, and we are just as happy to have done so. The result was a change that was spectacular for our home in particular and appropriate for the neighborhood. We still get compliments from neighbors. Beginning in the fall, Green Men began working on the interior of the house. Their work was extensive and took us to February 2015: essentially, they remodeled the house from top to bottom. Their work included carpentry/woodworking, interior painting, drywall, pressure washing, window treatment, and tiling. In the basement, they cleaned much of the basement out and waterproofed the basement floor. We had had a problem with flooding in the basement for years that we had been told was beyond help, and after Green Men finished we had not only a dry watertight basement, but one that had been remodeled into a small study, a bathroom, a laundry room, a large organized storage area, and, for our 3 small dogs, a "dog spa" (or stylishly fenced and finished small kennel area that was also soundproofed and triple waterproofed and sealed). In addition, they painted the entire basement and installed 8 glass-brick window, and the basement has remained dry as a nut. Upstairs, they retiled the hallway and five rooms (bedroom, living room , dining room, study, and break room).
