Description of Work: Had to stay on them due to missed appointments. They were apologetic and made up for it in materials. Template and granite installers were professional and fast! I most likely would see them first for additional business and would refer them to others.

Description of Work: We had granite counter tops installed on an island and over cabinets in the kitchen. The made a template and we placed the template on the granite. All seemed well and good. The installation went well, until we looked at how the granite fit over the cabinets. We have several gaps of up to 1/2" between the wall and the granite. In most places it was covered by the tile back splash. However, we have a good 1" gap at the end of the counter. We were told by the company that the walls were bowed so they did the best they could do with the condition of the walls. I don't know, but if you made a template that was the size of the granite, I don't understand how the template would not have taken into account the bowing of the walls. The main issue we had was that they never told us that our granite would have major gaps. If they had told us up front that the granite would not be flush against the wall, it would have met our expectation. But since they didn't and with our misunderstanding of the template process, it was far below our expectation.

Description of Work: I visited their store and received an estimate on kitchen countertop. I picked a granite piece and several weeks later a templator came to my house to make a template and then we went to the shop and laid the template on the granite slab together and in a couple of weeks they came to install the granite and the sink which took about 3 hours. I had not planned to get granite since I thought it would be too expensive but found that the cost was not that much greater than most other products. Laminate would have been cheaper but the value of my property is enhanced with the granite so that it more than makes up for the cost difference and it is truly beautiful.

+ -1 moreWe went to their showroom, received a tour of all of the selections, and received all the information we needed in making our choice. They responded quickly to all of our requests. They sent out their team to make the templates and we had our new counter tops in 10 working days. We can't say enough GOOD things about their service. Give them a call or stop by their showroom. You won't be disappointed.
Description of Work: Today Granite America installed our new counter tops... they are absolutely beautiful. We shopped around and found that they were very professional, knowledgeable and had the best prices in Indy. The installation team was very thorough and did a fantastic job!!!! They have a great selection with tremendous quality. If you are wanting to update your kitchen, etc... you won't go wrong by working with Granite America. Thanks for all the great help and a new kitchen. We had new perimeter and island counters installed.

+ 0 moreWe wanted to replace our bathroom vanity tops which were each 5 feet long. I picked out the slab first. Then the guys came to measure and remove the tops. I went back and templated out the slab and it was installed within a week. We also had them re-seal the kitchen granite and polish out an etched spot for an additional $300. The removal of the etched spot took a few trips but the problem was resolved and the countertop look almost as good as new. I doubt if anyone would notice. We also bought under mount sinks from Granite America for the bathroom which was included in the price. It did price out to $39/sq foot as advertised. I would use them again.

Description of Work: ALTHOUGH EVERYONE THERE WAS NICE, WE GOT DIFFERENT INFORMATION FROM EVERYONE, EVEN THE INSTALLERS THERE THAT WE SPOKE TO. WE WERE TOLD THAT UNTIL THE GRANITE WAS CUT WE COULD MAKE CHANGES....WE MADE A CHANGE WHEN THE MAN DOING THE MEASURING WAS AT OUR HOUSE, BUT THE GRANITE WAS NOT CUT TO REFLECT THAT CHANGE. THE COMPANY THEN CUT ANOTHER PIECE TO THE ORIGINALLY CHANGED MEASUREMENTS WITHOUT US FIRST AUTHORIZING THE PIECE OF GRANTIE AS WAS INSISTED UPON WHEN THE GRANITE WAS ORDERED. WE WERE TOLD BY THE INSTALLER THIS HAD TO BE DONE BEFORE THEY WOULD CUT THE GRANITE SO WE MADE ANOTHER TRIP TO GRANITE AMERICA THE NEXT DAY AS TO NOT DELAY THE INSTALL ANY FURTHER AND WE WERE GOING TO ADD INCHES TO THE PIECE SINCE THEY MADE A MISTAKE BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO SINCE THEY ALREADY PICKED THE PIECE OF GRANITE AND CUT IT......MY HUSBAND CALLED THE MAIN OFFICE AND WAS TOLD WE COULD CHANGE THE PIECE OF GRANITE BUT WHEN WE AGAIN DROVE TO GRANITE AMERICA LIZ TOLD US THAT IS NOT WHAT SHE WAS TOLD AND WAS NOT AUTHORIZED TO RECUT THE MESSED UP PIECE......AGAIN ANOTHER MISCOMMUNICATION.....WE WERE TOLD BY THE MAIN OFFICE THEY WOULD REFUND US $100.00 FOR OUR TROUBLE......AFTER NOT RECEIVING THE CK I CALLED LIZ AND WAS TOLD THE CHECK HAD BEEN MAILED......WHEN THE CK WAS NOT RECD IN A WEEK I CALLED LIZ AGAIN AND WAS TOLD SOMEONE FROM THE MAIN OFFICE WOULD CALL ME....THAT INDIVIDUAL TOLD ME HE WOULD CK ON IT AND CALL ME BACK,,,,NEVER RECD A CALL....AGAIN I CALLED LIZ AND WAS TOLD A STOP PAYMENT WAS PLACED ON THE FIRST CK ??!! + 0 moreWe chose Granite America to install out kitchen countertops and full-height granite backsplash. We looked at several other providers before picking Granite America, mainly because they had a granite that we really liked. During the installation, they scraped our cabinets. They also mis-measured the full-height backsplash, so there is a 1/4" gap between the bottom of the cabinets and the top of the granite backsplash. I paid a LOT of money to get the full-height granite backsplash, and do not expect there to be that big of a gap! When approached about these issues, they eventually agreed (after some initial hesitation) to pay the full price to fix the scrapes on the cabinets and add molding to the bottom of the cabinets to hide the mis-measure mistake. In the end, it all worked out, but it would have been nice to not experience these issues!

+ 0 moreWe found Granite America through a flyer we got in the mail and checked them out because of the advertised pricing. Their prices are much lower than the competition. We were skeptical, as we had been to several granite companies prior to this. But they had a great selection of types of granite and the end result looks great. We selected two types of granite - one for our kitchen and one for our bathroom. The company came out to measure for our countertops, then cut and fabricated the granite. The measuring must have been right on, as the countertops they installed fit perfectly. For our bathroom, the first top they installed was of the wrong type of granite. But when I pointed this out, the installer was incredibly quick to fix the problem. He offered to make it right immediately and to come back that very night (after his normal work hours) for the re-install. We ended up not having to do that for a variety of reason, but I was VERY impressed with how strongly he was in his insistence to help get the problem fixed right away. End result is beautiful countertops, great selection of granite, very good prices, and good customer service.

+ 0 moreWe found Granite America through the Internet. On 1/2/12, we went to their yard to search for a granite remnant for our island countertop in our master closet. We found a very nice piece and paid the 50% deposit. When discussing installation date, we specifically wanted the last appointment of the day on President's Day as this was the installation date of the closet system which included the island where the granite would be placed. The Office Manager said it would not be a problem since we were scheduling out so far in advance. Note: This is the only part of my experience with this company that was disappointing. A few days before install date, the Office Manager called to confirm scheduling. She proceeded to tell me that they were experiencing labor shortages and to avoid paying overtime, she wanted to reschedule us for a different date. I was a little taken aback because it is not only unprofessional to discuss not wanting to pay overtime to their employees, it isn't the customer's problem. I apologized but also told her that profit/fade is not my concern and that I expected her to keep the appointment since I requested the 2/20/12 install on 1/2/12. Furthermore, it was a 30 minute job vs. an all day ordeal. The installers showed up around 4:30 and installed the countertop in less than 15 minutes. They did a great job and I love my island countertop!

+ -1 moreThe overall experience was disappointing. It cost us a total of 3 days of vacation from work. They did not show for several appointments, mis-measured the templates (They corrected this by re-cutting the granite in our kitchen and left dust all over the appliances.), some of the leveling spacers show on the end of the counter due to the mis-measurement, used the incorrect adhesive (water-base) on the sink (They initially insisted they did use the correct adhesive, but later apologized and corrected this by removing the sink and reinstalled it with a granite adhesive), did a poor job of caulking between the counters and back splash (They corrected this by cutting out all the old caulk and replacing it, but a little of the old caulk still shows.) , installed a poorly joined seam, were missing a piece from the installation, and were very unresponsive to our repeated requests to finish the last piece of the project.

+ 0 moreI am very happy with my selection of Granite America. My counter tops are beautiful! I had 4 estimates and they were by far the most reasonable. I was a little apprehensive because of the cost difference. Everything turned out very well. Kate in the office was a great help picking matching slabs and helping us lay out the kitchen on them. Eric explained everything to me that was going on with the installation. They guys who were in my house were very polite and hardworking. I feel that I was able to receive a nicer variety of granite then I would have been able to receive with the other contractors that I received estimates from. I tried to keep with the same variety of granite for the estimates. However, the granite I chose I feel would have been even more expensive from someone else.

+ 0 moreAfter shopping many of the local granite stores and comparing prices, I decided to buy from Granite America because of price and prior experience with them. Julia was very helpful in selecting a stone, and also very patient when I changed my mind for the third time. The gentlemen were late arriving to template the kitchen area because they had to drive from the Louisville location, but I was glad that they did not reschedule. They were on time for the installation of the granite, but upon inspection I noticed a problem. There was a big, ugly, glue spot by the sink cutout. I called Kate the next day and explanined the situation and sent pictures. She knew right away that this was not right and called me back several hours later with a solution. I went to the shop the next day and picked out a new stone, and they replaced the countertop (2 pieces) 2 days later. I am very pleased with their work, and thankful that there was no grief in fixing the problem.
