Gil's Lamp Repair

Arrangements were made to drop off the lamp, and I picked it up the next day. It was finished within 2 hours after I dropped it off, but I couldn't go back after it that evening. Everything is working as it should.

After searching the list for lamp repair, I chose Gil's Lamp Repair from all the reports I'd read. Phoned him and told him the problem. He said it sounded like he could fix it right away. I dropped off the lamp and had a call from him in less than two hours. The lamp was repaired, and he had also replaced a three-way switch that wasn't working properly. I had no obtained an estimate, but from the reports I'd read online, I thought it would be reasonable. It was. The ceramic lamp was repaired-all the metal parts replaced and rewired-plus new felt was added to the base. Works very well. He was as good as his promise. The price was right. And he was professional and efficient. All service workers should be so customer-oriented. Kudos for Gil.

He returned the call promptly and we made arrangements for me to get the lamp to him. I left it at his home with a note attached indicating color of cord and plug desired. He did the work that evening and called with a report. In addition to replacing the cord and plug as requested, he placed a rod up the stein which stabilized the stein lid and eliminated the knot in the cord at the base. Mr. Gill resides near Glendale Mall and I live on the southwest side. Had I known the repair would be done so quickly I would have asked to arrange a time to bring the lamp and wait while he did the work.

He did great work and he did more than was necessary. He really went the extra mile for us and he didn't charge us any extra. I would recommend him to others.

Excellent job. I contacted Gil by phone, was directed to leave the lamps on his breezeway, and received a phone call from him with estimate that evening. He did the work the next day, gave me a phone call in the middle of the day explaining that the charge for the finished work was a little more than the estimate due to his having to replace switches in both lamps. Picked up finished lamps on breezeway and left check. Very satisfied with repair, which was so speedy, as promised, and so convenient for drop-off and pick-up. Most satisfied with good old-fashioned promptness and taking ownership for quality of repair. These were quality lamps were well worth repairing and should now last forever.

I had a bathroom wall fixture that had the bulb bases fused into their sockets due to high heat (and they were burned out so I couldn't remove them). I thought I'd have to replace the entire fixture, but I took it to him and he replaced the old sockets with new ceramic sockets.

Great! Mr. Bunton wasn't home when we called to inform him that we were leaving the lamp, so we didn't even know if he was in town. Nevertheless, he had called the house to say he was done before we'd even made it home from running errands. He even thanked us for using his services.

I took 2 lamps to him a little after 11:00 am to have the switches fixed. He called at 1:30 to say they were finished. He even polished the brass lamps for me in addition to the repair. He did great work and I would use him again.

Gil did a great job. When I talked to him over the phone and described the problem he gave me several choices of ways it could be fixed, along with the approximate cost of each.

I dropped the lamp off at Mr. Bunton's house. He actually called later that day and it was ready. This lamp was rather old and he went above and beyond what I thought it needed - to my delight! Great service and a fair price.

Work was done well. Lamp was rewired to fit usual type bulbs. Original lamp required a bulb that had to be sent for at $22.00 each.

Gil invited us to bring him our lamp that we thought needed to be repaired. He took one look and knew the problem: since it's a mogal bulb and an antique lamp sometimes the threads need a little lubrication. He sprayed a little WD-40 on the threads of the bulb, screwed it the socket, and it worked! He was kind enough to not charge us for his expertise. Great advice, great service.
