Couldn't have gone better. Bad weather was moving in and they did what it took to get the job done on time and in time. Couldn't have been more pleased. Cleaned up thoroughly after the work. Highly recommend.

I would hire them again for work. They were a good company to work with.
Description of Work: Gicko worked on our home 3-4 years ago. They replaced 2 windows, a front door and removed the cedar siding, which they replaced with cement board. The owner, Brandon, also referred a painter to us for the exterior job. They all did a great job on our home, cleaned up well after and were very responsive with any of our questions. I am reviewing this company several years later, so the cost was actually higher, I can't recall the exact amount

GICKO owner, Brenden Fitzgerald, came by to give us an estimate in May for fiber cement board siding. We had several other bidders for the work. His price was fair, but we hired him because he was enthusiastic and provided the estimate right away. We had a lot of work to be done, but wanted the option to stop working with a contractor if needed. Brenden easily agreed to give us estimates for each portion of work as we went. We also continued to get other bids for awhile, then realized after the 3rd (or so) contract with him, that GICKO Roofing had skilled workers and they were meticulous with their work. We agreed that GICKO would finish the job. Brendon was always available, and his workers were pleasant and cleaned up well before leaving each day. He referred us to a painting company that also did excellent work (Burkley Painting, also a member of Angie's List). We can't help but be pleased with all of the work. GICKO did the entire outside remodel and we will hire him again. This company has the INTEGRITY we were looking for. GOOD JOB!
Description of Work: GICKO Roofing replaced 3 windows (not vinyl replacement), replaced the interior trim, installed a front door, tore off all the outside cedar and replaced with fiber cement board. They did a chimney repair/chimney cap, all new gutters, and put new columns on the front porch. Brendon also referred us to a painter.

I called and they came out for a estimate. They came back at a later date and performed the work. They did an excellent job.
Description of Work: I had some board rotting over my garage area and they removed the bad area and replaced it and put shingles back on. I have used this company before and they do excellent work. They came out when they said they would and came back to do the work at a later date. I feel they are very dependable.. Bob Grover

it went great. got 3 estimates. this company offered the best pricing. we scheduled to get the roof fixed. the owner, Brenden, call me about 10 days before that, since the weather got nicer, and asked if he start the project soomer. i said that was great. it took one day. so far, no more leaks. Brenden was professional. i did my own research on the roofing products that roofers use to fix this type of problem. i feel like he installed good quality product and installed it well. over all, i am very satisfied with my job. Feel good about calling Brendon from Gicko Roofing/Construction. good service, good price, quality materials.
Description of Work: I had a leaking roof in a low slope area of my roof. i needed to add some type of water proofing membrane and get it reshingled. also needed to replace a small piece of wood siding. the area leaked in the winter and once in while during heavy rain.

Our area was hit by another hail storm in 2008 so an insurance adjustor came out and examined the roof. Although there was hail damage to the ridge vent and slight damage to some siding it was determined that there was no isolated structural damage along the roof slopes as a result of the hail storm. I re-read the report this year and it stated the roof had "extensive mechanical damages from foot traffic" as well as stating the roof was in fair serviceable condition and halfway through its useful life. I certainly am no roofing expert but this concerned me as this is a thirty-year roof and was only two years old at the time this report was written. I understand that shingles wear more the first couple of years but this amount of wear seemed excessive. Based on this report I called two other roofing contractors to come out for estimates on the ridge vent and new gutters. (Gutters were not installed by Gicko Roofing and having them replaced was not a result of hail damage.) Hail damage aside, both roofers questioned the materials used on the ridge vent and raised concerns of improper ventilation as a result. Improper ventilation can cause the roof to age at a faster rate than normal. I contacted Brenden Fitzgerald, the owner of Gicko about what I was told. He assured me everything was installed correctly but because there was some question at the time that the shingles themselves might be defective he said he would contact the manufacturer of the shingles. They would then send me a list of what they needed in order to have a claim. Brenden then told me that I would need to climb up on the roof and remove some shingles in the affected area and then patch the roof myself so it wouldn?t leak. I was stunned that he would expect me to do this as most consumers, myself included, have no experience in working on a roof. I told him I would not do this due to the risk of falling and injuring myself. After a heated discussion in which he said that he wasn?t going to take responsibility for what the manufacturer did he then stated that he would come out and do it but that he would charge me. In disbelief, I said ?so what you?re telling me is you don?t stand behind what you sell.? He went on to accuse me of questioning his integrity and honesty. I offered to have Brenden talk to the other roofers about what they found because they would obviously have more expertise that I and be able to discuss in detail. He replied that he wasn?t going to talk to one of his competitors. I told him that I would think about my next step and I hung up. After consideration I decided that I didn?t want him working on the house again. I called him back and left a voice mail that I wouldn?t recommend him if anyone asked and to not contact me. In summary, I am very disappointed about the quality and customer service after the sale. I don?t feel like this company stands behind what they sell.
Description of Work: I had a new roof installed on the house during the summer of 2007. Relying on a referral I had received there was no reason for concern. He acted in a professional manner during our initial conversation and when the roof was installed.

We can not honor any warranty on a roof that has been affected by hail damage, or any other type of natural cause. We opened a warranty claim on behalf of the homeowner with Owens Corning, but their warranty limitations are the same as ours. Please note: IF YOU HAVE DAMAGE TO YOUR ROOF FROM HAIL, NO MATTER HOW OLD IT IS, THE WARRANTY IS AUTOMATICALLY VOID! This homeowner just could not grasp that. All of the materials on the system were installed per manufacturer's sopecifications, and all materail was of the same quality. We do not dispute that the roof has shown noticable wear, but this roof was right in the middle of a massive hail storn that struck Fishers in June of 2009. The hail was litterally the size of billiard balls. This homeowner also hired another contractor to repair the hail damage to her roof, but did not call us to make any kind of a warranty claim until over a year after that contractor had left. Hiring another contractor to work on a roof system immediately voids any and all warranties. We can not guarantee what the other contractor did to the roof, nor the manner in which they performed the work (including leaving foot traffic wear on the system). We went out of our way to make this work for the homeowner, but she wants a new roof because her insurance company won't pay for another one!

We would definitely recommend them to anyone! What other contractor would drive all the way from Indianapolis to help us out? Fitzgerald Construction Group will be my FIRST choice for any future home remodel!
Description of Work: I had Brenden Fitzgerald travel to Washington DC to completely remodel my upstairs bathroom. The home was built in the 1890s, and had a lot of defects. He gutted the entire space, including the plumbing, flooring, old plaster, bathtub, tile, woodwork, etc. He spent an entire week installing all new water supply and drains, new electrical, new floor tile, a custom shower with a frameless shower doors, and historic subway wainscoting around the entire room. He took great care in matching old materials to new. They even left the exterior wall exposed to accent the 100+ year old brick. We were very happy with the result. The room had not been worked on since the 1960’s, and was desperate for repair. We since have utilized the room everyday!

We had Fitzgerald Construction Group remodel a vacation home we recently sold located in Ninevah, IN. The home had been in my family for 60 years, and had not been updated in 35 years. We hired Mr. Fitzgerald after interviewing 4 other contractors and getting estimates on the work. They completely removed the entire kitchen and two bathrooms, down to the studs. They installed new drywall, flooring, cabinets, lighting/electrical, granite counter tops, bathroom fixtures, a shower, a bath tub and finished book cases. They also constructed a 200 square foot room addition onto the back of the home to create a master bedroom area. This was especially tough because the house is on a steep hillside facing a lake and the foundation was huge. We spent 4 months looking for a contractor and knew almost from the first time we met Brenden that they were the ones we wanted to do the work. We recently sold the home, and we were able to stick to our budget (with the exception of the new roof that was added after the project started). We did the work knowing that we were going to put the house on the market, and we were concerned about over-building it. (It sold in less than 2 months!) Brenden introduced us to an awesome architect that met every need we had. His professionalism was on display every day, and we could not have been happier with the results. His problem solving skills were outstanding, especially when you consider how far away the project was from their office. We have already started talking to them about traveling to our home in Louisville to update our existing kitchen!

Everything was done halfway. As a customer I asked for it to be done correctly. The owner seemed to almost find that unreasonable. He has no pride in his work and did not want to finish it to my expectations. Most recently he held my 6 cabinet doors that were done incorrectly by him (mismeasured and painted incorrectly) hostage for 11 days. He butchered my floors to the point where I will need to have them redone. He did credit me for this. He indicated to me in an email that he no longer wanted to work for me which is fine, I don?t want him here either. He shouldn?t be getting work, I think he is unstable. He is very immature and threw a fit with my general contractor. He just wants to get in and get his work done, but not to the customer?s satisfaction.
Description of Work: They performed a remodel of our kitchen. They refaced and painted our cabinets, installed new countertops, sanded and stained our floor and installed appliances, a sink and a faucet.

This was, by far, the worst homeowner we have ever worked with. Funny that she did not mention that they spent 95% of the project out of town, and had a very under-qualified interior designer coordinate the project. They also tried to push us to finish the project almost 2 weeks ahead of schedule because they didn't want the inconvience of having a contractor in their house while they were home. We had an unforseen problem with the flooring sander, but we also immediately credited back the entire amount to have the floors refinished. This customers satisfaction is litterally unreachable. We went well beyond what is a typical level of service for any contractor, to no apparent end. We did leave the project and did not complete the work due simply to the fact that this member stated that she would not pay us, even after the punch list was complete. How are we supposed to work with someone that will not pay us when the project is finished? We would rather take the loss and move on with clients that are actually willing to pay their invoices. Furthermore, I have never met a more condesceding, concieted, and disrespectful client than this member. Had we know this persons obvious bi-polar nature, we would have never approached the project. All we have to show for all of our efforts is a bad review and a bad taste in our mouths about this client. We stand by all of our work, just look at the other reviews of our clients from Angie's List, and literally hundreds of others that we are able to make happy! Any Angies List member is welcome to request pictures of this project from us. We would be happy to show off the beautiful work we did on this project. We are satisfied that we were just able to get away from these people.

We live in an old home that is made of cement block. It is extremely challenging to fix or re-model anything in this home. There had been water damage to a first floor bathroom from an upstairs pipe leak, destroying much of the wall in which an old obsolete wall hung toilet was. Brenden Fitzgerald responded to a call and promptly came to my home, evaluated the damage, talked with me about my vision of repair. He submitted an itemized proposal for repair and remodel, complete with allowances for re-tile (floor and shower), vanity, toilet and shower stall renovation. He also included a timetable for completion. When work commenced, his employees were punctual, pleasant and very diligent workers. They protected the carpets and tile in the house where they needed to bring in equipment. When problems arose with the plumbing, Brenden communicated the problems clearly and gave options for solving the problems. While it took longer to complete the job than Brenden anticipated, due to a delay in obtaining new toilets (not Fitzgerald's fault, but the supplier) the job was completed much sooner than I had thought (given the history of problems with this unique home). The custom tile job that they provided is perfect. The cost for the job was reasonable. The result of remodeling exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them for remodeling. Brenden is earnest, honest and has a reliable professional crew.
Description of Work: Fitzgerald construction remodeled an orange bathroom (1950 vintage) including tile removal, re-style of tub shower, excavation of floor and re-plumb to replace previous obsolete wall hung toilets, repair extensive wall water damage, re-plaster, install new vanity, new lights, mirrors, paint. Also updated toilet in master bath which needed extensive re-routing of plumbing in cement block.

It went very well. A little dismayed that they ran out of shingles with the job 3/4 finished. However, the owner of Gicko Roofing was very responsive and located more shingles reasonably quickly to finish the job. Clean-up by roofing subcontractor could have been a bit better. Very impressed that Gicko Roofing did not ask for any deposit prior to commencement of job.

WE WERE MORE THAN WILLING TO PLACE ALL OF THE SPECIFICATIONS ON PAPER. THIS WAS AN OUT OF TOWN PROJECT, AND WE INFORMED THE PROSPECTED CLIENT THAT WE WOULD ONLY PERFORM THIS WORK VIA A COST-PLUS CONTRACT. WE WERE WILLING TO PROVIDE THIS SERVICE, BUT THE HOMEOWNER NEVER CONTACTED US BACK AFTER LEAVING TWO VOICE MESSAGES. WE CAN NOT HELP PEOPLE IF THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO COMMUNICATE WITH US. WE SPENT OVER AN HOUR ON THE PROPERTY, DISCUSSING DETAILS WITH THE HOMEOWNER, AND INFORMED HER THE FOLLOWING WEEK THAT WE COULD ONLY PERFORM THE WORK ON CERTAIN TERMS. WE DID NOT OFFER A PRICE, DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING AMOUNT OF WORK, AND THE LACK OF A LEGITIMATE BUDGET BY THE PROSPECTIVE CLIENT. WE ALWAYS STRIVE TO PROVIDE TOP SERVICE TO ALL PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS, BUT WE HAVE TROUBLE DOING SO WHEN THOSE PEOPLE WILL NOT COMMUNICATE BACK WITH US!

We must say that our experience Fitzgerald Construction (Brendan and Joe) and the entire process was the best we have had with any contractor. Brenden's estimate was very detailed. In fact, when comparing Brenden's estimate with the other estimates we received, we learned how many details the other contractors either forgot about or lacked the expertise to foresee. Brenden readily communicated with us throughout the entire process and he worked tirelessly along with his crew the entire time. The few small problems that occurred (which were to be expected with any project) were quickly handled and taken care of to our satisfaction. They took the time to ensure the new cabinet stain matched our old cabinets. We were so pleased with their work that we asked them to install matching crown molding, which was done right along with the other work with no delay. We would highly recommend Brenden to anyone wanting work done professionally and timely.
Description of Work: We had a portion of the wall between our kitchen and family room removed to make for a bar area. This required the installation of a header and new drywall. In addition, they installed new cabinets, plumbing and electricity in this bar area. They also installed cabinets around the refrigerator and new counter-tops throughout the entire kitchen. The new cabinets had to be stained to match the existing cabinets.

We hired a different contractor at first and had difficulty getting the workers to show up! That contractor ended up quitting the job before even starting. We then hired Fitzgerald Construction Group after getting estimates from a few companies. We now have a new roof, gutters, and siding. Everything looks great! Some of the work has not yet been completed because of the winter weather (trim painting). At Brenden's suggestion, a portion of the payment was held back until this has been completed. Brenden Fitzgerald has been honest and professional in all his dealings with us. He has always returned phone calls quickly, answered questions, and responded to our concerns in a timely fashion. His employees are polite and professional. We liked this company so much that we are hiring them to build a garage for us.
Description of Work: Fitzgerald Construction Group installed a new roof, roofed over our "built-in" gutters, installed new gutter boards, hung new exterior gutters and downspouts, removed damaged aluminum siding and replaced it with concrete siding, completed interior repairs due to water damage to ceilings and walls, and installed an attic access door.

Mr. Fitzgerald handled most of the work himself, or knew subcontractors who did a very good job in adding new electric wiring and outlet boxes. He also helped in acquiring a good price on the cabinets and knew who could install them, as well as the counter top. He did some of the tile work and had another contractor install the ceramic tile on the floor. We enjoyed working with him and he was very good at listening to what we wanted.
Description of Work: We had a complete kitchen remodel. The 4 layers of old flooring had to be removed, and a great deal of wallboard was removed and replaced. We had a dishwasher leak that caused a great deal of damage and the kitchen was basically gutted and rebuilt.

When we contacted Mr. Fitzgerald, we knew from the start that he was the person we wanted to do this project. We already had drawings for the project, but he made several very helpful suggestions about the design, which we later implemented into the process. We had to wait a number of weeks for it to begin, but things progressed very well. The whole construction process took about 4 months to complete. From the start, everyone was extremely professional, especially when it came to unforseen circumstances that arose during the project. The detail and expertise of the crew was almost perfect. They helped us through the process of selections. The price was competitive for the other estimates we received. Since this was a rental home, we were not able to be around all the time, but we were very happy with the end result. We will definitely use this company for our next remodeling project on our own home next year

I can't tell the story start to finish, because 1000 characters isn't enough. So briefly...Companies like this just don't exist any more. I just can't believe it. There really is someone who still cares about customer service. I just cannot say enough about Brenden Fitzgerald of Gicko Roofing. He did everything I asked, he responded to emails the SAME DAY in almost every case, even on weekends! He returned calls same day, weekends and EVENINGS! He stood by me through exhausting decisions about which brand, which color and pointed out other jobs with specific colors/brands I could go look at. His workers did everything the way he said they would. The roof is beautiful, the gutters are wonderful, and they cleaned up after themselves. Even the slightest questions were addressed immediately. After all the horrible service out there, I had given up hope. He is absolutely fabulous. I hope I never need another roof, but if I do, I know who to call.
Description of Work: Total re-roof, including gutters, as result of the hail storm of 2006.
