We had set the color spectrum to the factory specification before the guy came in and he came out and showed us what the problem was and suggested getting a new HDMI cable which we did. We went out and purchased one and hooked it up and we have a clear picture now. This guy was very good and very informative. His price was a little bit of a sticker shock considering that he was only here for about 30 minutes, but I asked him a lot of questions and he was very helpful. It turned out to be pretty simple to fix, but in the long run, he probably saved us some money and he did not try to oversell anything. He did not say, "You need to replace this or that." We just paid his initial house call price. The quality of his service was good and his responsiveness to our needs and concerns was very good. He was right on time and he called ahead. He was also very professional and he gave us his business card so that we could call him any time.
Description of Work: We used Geek Squad just this Saturday since we were having some color issues with the color spectrum of our computer.

I wrote most of what should be in this section in the first as far as what happened. It was probably THE WORST EXPERIENCE in my life when I spend the money I did and the glowing promises that were made. I ended up hiring a third party individual who basically replaced almost all the equipment and network had it running in a week and has been great for almost two years. The draw back was instead of $20,000.00 my expenses went WAY OVER BUDGET to $35,000.00. And BEST BUY thinks I am a happy customer. Simple reason is inspite of what seems like hundreds of calls to get help, nobody listened or cared. The techs did what they could but to get my problems fixed which they caused. Useless.
Description of Work: Good products. GEEK SQUAD is a JOKE! All they know is the simplest service. They claim to do and know it all but they have PROVEN to me THEY DO NOT KNOW what to do. Either about installing computer networks, customer service, or common respect. I run an in home business with four computers. I upgraded three of them and needed to network them together and so that each one back ups the data of themselves and in total. We got off to a good start and trust the person. Then he became "unavailable." So I said I would wait. After a month or so, I wanted to move ahead and found out that he got injured and couldn't work for a while. So I said ok, send someone else. Explaining what was needed from the beginning. They said they can't because I was past their service time. (Paid for all ready) After much yelling I got someone to come out to work some more. He reached a point and admitted it was at a point he couldn't handle. Got someone else. During this time my systems would stop working for no apparent reason. Of course, it was something I was doing. NOT. I do know a little more than they thought but heck I didn't want to actually do it. I was asking for the manager. The answer was that any of the assistance managers can help. Of course everytime I called, it was someone different. At the Geek Squad there is no manager that works with customers, each "individual is capable and trained to handle every situation." Three months into this horror. Eventually, they sent out their "Network Guru." As if I was to be impressed. She came out spent some time and left. The next morning nothing worked. Nothing. I called and was basically told, that their "Guru," never makes a mistake and the system is fine. I am looking at it in front of me and they are telling me it works!!! I finally got a corporate number somehow, I think on line since I could never talk to THE manager. The corporate support people first response was well, I should be talking with the store manager about this. WHAT??? I explained what was going on. This person was just a person who had not authority to do anything. I guess BEST BUY feels that a couple of calm words like that's ok it will get better. are good enough. Everything would be magically fixed. The store refused to send anyone else out thinking I must be an unable to please person. Which is completely not true. The problem is that I do expect to get what I paid for. It is interesting, this is called the services they performed, I could answer honestly NONE. They did sell me plenty of extras. Of course I bought them I needed the system operating. Read the next section on what I had to do to recover my business.

It was bad. The washer went out before the service contract was up, and it turned out they said that there was a part that wasn't covered by the contract, so I had to get another one. I had to buy another service agreement, that, unbeknownst to me, null and voided the existing one on the dryer to the original washer. When the dryer went out, they wouldn't cover the replacement of that either. I ended up raising such a fuss-the whole thing ended up costing me $299.00!!! Never again will I shop at Best Buy.
Description of Work: I had bought a washer and dryer from them and the washer went out and I had the darndest time getting any services or help out of them.I will never purchase anything from Best Buy again. Ever.

I was desperate to find this highly popular video game before Christmas so that I could give it as a gift. I searched tons of websites and multiple stores but to no avail. I spoke with Amy at Best Buy and she said that they did have one copy but it was being held. If the person holding it didn't come within a certain time frame, she would reserve it for me. The person did come, go figure! But Amy continued to work with me and had the game shipped in from another store all on my behalf! Wonderful customer service, especially at one of the busiest stores during the holiday season!

Terrible! It took five different employees before we found someone who could tell us anything about the item we wanted to buy. Then they refused to honor our credit card.
Description of Work: We went to Best Buy to purchase a big screen TV. After going through FOUR employees in the TV section, we finally found someone who could tell us about the TV we were interested in. The others kept repeating themselves and not answering the questions we had. We wanted to pay for it by credit card, but they wouldn't accept our credit card because we didn't have the back of the card signed. We write "Ask for ID" on the back of our credit card so that if it gets stolen, the thief can't use it. Best Buy refused to honor it, even though Mastercard told us it was OK not to sign the back. We talked to a manager who kept saying "What if you stole that card?" We pointed out that our ID's, i.e. driver's license, matched the name on the card. He still refused to honor it. We left without the TV and bought one at Circuit City instead. We made sure that our friends and family know about Best Buy's uninformed and non-cooperative practices, and we've refused to shop there again.

Sales personnel were very friendly & helpful. I was explained all of the options regarding choosing between Plasma & LCD TV sets. They recommended for me to join the reward zone club since I was qualified for gift certificates on this purchase. I agreed & received $75.00 worth of them in about 2 weeks. The only bad thing is that they want too much to get it installed (my estimate was $500 for TV + $500 if I want home theater hooked to it).
Description of Work: I PURCHASED AN LCD TV. THE STORE ONLY HAD A DISPLAY MODEL, SO THEY ORDERED IT & HAD IT DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE FREE OF CHARGE.

The connection failed the first time around, so I had to have Agent Andrew McCoy return and replace the router that he had brought. This router cost more than the first one. He told me I'd need a different phone or I might get kicked off my DSL; which I bought. I had problems w/the phone so ended up using my old phone and it seems to work ok. He was hard to get a hold of; didn't respond to some calls.

I took my computer to Best Buy because I couldn't get it working. They messed up 2 machines in 1 night by wiping out all my drivers trying to take off their advertisement off the machine. Now I've spoken with another systems recovery team who told me it would cost me $2300 to recover data and install a new hard drive for $80. Best Buy told me it wasn't their problem because it was past the 14 day for return policy.

Initially, Best Buy said it was my responsibility to pay for any repair, since they didn't sell the equipment. Once I asked them if they read the instructions and they admitted they had not, I convinced them it was their responsibility. It did take some prodding to get them to accept responsibility, though.
Description of Work: I took my truck in to have a satellite receiver that I had purchased directly from the manufacturer installed. I also had an adapter designed to attach the device to my factory radio. They said they would install the equipment, even though it was purchased elsewhere. When they hooked up the adapter to my stereo, it shorted out my radio. The instructions for the device stated that the power should be disconnected at the battery, and they failed to do that. That resulted in Best Buy having to pay Toyota to replace my radio. That process took almost 3 weeks, but Best Buy's insurance paid for the repair. It could have been avoided if they had disconnected the power per the manufacturers instructions. I sent the device back to the manufacturer to verify it was in proper working order, it was. I took the device to another local installer and they were able to install it properly. I don't expect to use Best Buy installers again.

THE DESK PERSON WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. BECAUSE IT COULD NOT BE FIXED IN THE STORE IT WAS SENT OUT FOR CLEANING AND REPAIR. IT WAS BACK WITHIN A WEEK, SEVERAL DAYS EARLIER THAN I WAS TOLD. IT WORKED GREAT AND I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE.
