The opener I had was "builder-grade", and was incredibly noisy. I was worried I would wake my neighbors every time I left home on Saturday mornings. I wanted it replaced with something much better, and GDI recommended the Liftmaster belt-driven opener instead of a chain-driven opener. They swapped out the openers, and the new one was still a bit noisy upon initially raising and at the bottom of lowering. I called them back out to see if they could adjust it and make it more quiet. They didn't hesitate to send someone. The young man that came out worked diligently and cheerfully, doing everything he possibly could to quiet the opener. Now, upon returning from running errands, my husband can't even tell I've arrived home, due to how quiet my new opener is!

I believe it went well but I wasn't contacted when the work was completed. Dad was confused as to whether they were done or not. Caring for elderly parents from a distance is a challenge and an additional level of attention from service providers to ensure the work gets done correctly and without additional fees is paramount.

Contacted Garage Doors of Indianapolis around 2:00 pm after a spring broke and they indicated they could do the repair same day. They arrived on time at 3:30 and completed the job in about 30 minutes. Staff were very professional and did a great job. I would highly recommend them.

When arriving at home yesterday to meet a chimney sweep, the garage door wouldn't open. After the chimney sweep left, I called Overhead Doors at 5:10pm. They were already closed for the day. As the garage door was safely closed and not in some "katywompus" state, I did not declare my situation an emergency, so I left a message with the live person on the phone (not a machine voice mail, which was nice.). He said they would call me when they got in the next morning (they open at 7:30). I received a phone call at 8:40am and found that their service hours are 8-5 and Saturdays. They required the customer to be available for entire half days (8-12 or 12-5) It is Wednesday, but I did not have a situation where I could take time off work to meet Overhead Door. So I scheduled a Saturday morning, but was not particularly happy with myself about having to park outside that long (the roof leaks on my soft top and I currently did not have any top on the Jeep) and needing to cancel a weekend camping trip. So I called down the list on Angie's List, becoming more and more discouraged that none of these companies seem to run a swing shift crew. I mean really, it is a service oriented business and I would imagine that most of the customers all work at least 8-5. I would think that more companies would have an early crew and a late crew. Finally, I reached the phone number of Garage Doors of Indianapolis. They run a swing shift crew! YEAH! And they could put me on their schedule the same day! The serviceman, Rick, called ahead and arrived exactly on time. He was very courteous, worked quickly and professionally, showed me immediately what was wrong, after the work was done he explained and showed me what was done. I will use this company again if I should ever need to and will recommend them to all my neighbors for their great work and customer-friendly hours! As the houses in the neighborhood are all about 16 years old, I hope they get a lot of business as the mechanics of the garage door openers start to break down with age.

"I called and requested a technician to repair or replace my remote sensor on my garage door. It would go up w/ the remote control in my car but would "most of the time" not go back down. Last winter when this started I researched on line and it was shown to be a pretty common problem with older garage door openers. I asked this co. to come and repair my garage door opener and described what was happening to the appointment scheduler. She did not ask what kink of a garage door opener I had or anything but just scheduled the technician for later that day. He showed up on time and entered my garage and immediately asked if I'd considered a new garage door since mine is aging. I said not at this time and described what was happening and that because it was warmer that day it was operating properly explaining that most of the time when cooler the door would not come down. He then said, THEY DON'T MAKE THAT PART FOR THIS GARAGE DOOR OPENER ANYMORE! He then told me about this deal they had for a new garage door opener and that he was going to have to charge me for the service call and that the $59.00 service charge would be deducted from the cost of the new equipment if I signed up while he was there. I declined and paid the technician the $59.00 (actually $60.00 since I didn't have the correct change) and sent him on his way. I then went inside my house, sat down at the computer and within 1/2 hour had ordered the part that the technician had told me was no longer available. It arrived a week later and I installed it myself and it works perfectly. I feel that the technician's telling me the part was no longer available and that I'd have to buy a whole new garage opener could be clearly defined as a "scam" on the part of Garage Doors of Indianapolis' representative. I emailed them with this information and a request for my $60.00 back the day after I installed the new equip. Heard nothing. Gave them a couple of weeks to respond and then went to their offices to talk to Cecil McCord, the "hands on owner of the co. as was described in the "about us" tab on their website only to be told he has been retired for 6 years. His son runs the place now but was not available. Was given a card with a phone number to call his son but was told by the receptionist that they were not allowed to transfer calls to that number. I explained to the receptionist what I wanted and she said she would transfer me to Manager Ron Umbarger who would be back in a couple of hours and she would personally see he got back to me. I left word on his voice mail of my needs but never heard from him. A day later I called again and asked for him and was told he was not in. I told the receptionist I felt I had been scammed and wanted to talk with someone. She said that she would talk to her manager and perhaps she could do something. As of now......I have not heard from anyone.

On the first visit, Nick informed me that my 31-year-old opener was kaput, and not repairable. He then offered me two alternatives for replacement, with the pros and cons of each, and the cost of the initial call included in the prices. Nick showed up as scheduled for the installation, and did a neat, professional job of installing and fine-tuning the opener so it operated properly, and cleaned up all the hardware, parts and packaging.

I had one car in the garage that I couldn't get out and one parked outside that I couldn't put in. I called this morning and they were here by early afternoon. I thought it pretty expensive, but I have used them before and knew they did good work for me in the past. I had a 10% off coupon from Angies list that I expected to be worth more than it was - he said it was 10% off the service, but that was only $100 of the cost, so the coupon was worth $10 off. Disappointing, but the garage door works and he was plenty nice. We discussed the option of installing a new garage door altogether, and although I don't like making such a decision without comparison shopping (and I told him as much), I entertained the idea. However, after that entire discussion and my having made my choice about which door I wanted I asked him what he would be doing about my current situation. "Nothing," he said. The pricing we were discussing didn't include any work on the current door at all. I told him that he talked me out of buying a new door. That "nothing" really made me realize that what I really wanted was a working door TODAY, not a working door in 10-days or so (even if it would be new). He seemed surprised for a second but recovered well, stating that whatever I wanted he would do. I told him I wanted him to replace the springs and get the door working again. 45-minutes later, he was done with his work and I had an operable garage door.

I was very satisfied with the overall service. I had to call them back to find out what time they were coming out but the lady apologized for that. They came out within the stated window in time, and the repair was made in a timely fashion. We have had the spring replaced twice within a four year time period. When I did some research the spring should last about seven years with normal use. I asked them for a discount because of the short life of the spring. they denied giving me a discount and I did not think that this denial was fair. they stuck with the one year warranty. what is to say that they do not install sub par springs to keep them in business? It just left a bad taste in my mouth that they did not offer some type of discount. I understand that they do not have to, but I think by me using they 4 or five times within the last 5 to 10 years good customer service would have offered a discount. it was there choice to deny me a discount, and it will be my choice whether to use them again.

I can't really judge the cost because I didn't get an estimate from others. I believe that the door needed more than the tune-up. but I didn't talk to other venders for their advice and charges. I have already provided this information (so I don't know if this request is an out of date email)(. I don't rmemebr when this all happened so the date is fake. Your system is limited. I wanted to give NA for all, but then I can't do a NA for the overall rating. So I changed everything to a C--but it really should be NA
Description of Work: When the provider came, it turned out that the problem I had with my garage door was not covered by the tune up. So they fixed the door and applied the deal to it.

The salesperson gave me options for the door replacement and there was no hard pressure sell. We agreed on a price and they provided a written estimate/signed proposal. The installation date was set within 6 days. The installer showed up within the time window they provided and completed the removal and replacement of the door, springs and rails in 2 hours like they promised. The installer made sure the door worked properly with me before he left. The new door looks and works great!

I called Garage Doors of Indianapolis and scheduled my repair for the next day. The technician Brian arrived on time and determined all that needed to be done. Of course the broken spring needed to be replaced and since there was only one spring he suggested that another be added which is normal for overhead doors, and I agreed. He told me that the cables did not have to be replaced but it might be a good idea. Again I agreed with Brian. Due to their age I felt that by replacing them that it would save me a more expensive repair if I waited. He also installed all new rollers, lubed the door, and adjusted the drive chain. The door works better then it ever has. Brian is very friendly and professional. You could tell that he has a lot of experience and knows what he is doing. He did a great job. We have used this company in the past at our old residense and we will always call them when we have a problem with our door and highly recommend them to anyone that needs this type of service.

On Sunday night our garage door made a terrible crashing noise and wouldn't open so we called. The man who answered phone told us of the extra cost for Sunday service and offered to put us on the list for the next morning. We agreed. When we hadn't called by9 as he said they would, we called again. They had no record of a request for service but said they could be at our place between 11 and 3. About 1 I got a call suggesting they would be there soon. They arrived just before 3 p.m. The repairman quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. I have no problem with their work -- they have fixed problems with our garage door before. -- but this time the responsiveness and punctuality were a bit of a problem.

Very well, they arrived on time, had everything needed to install door. Layed all parts out in order of use. Disassembled old door and removed. Then installed new door. Very well organized in their work habits. Everything went great. Both young men were very pleasant to be around while working. Did a good job of cleaning up when done.
