This was about 7:15pm. We went on Angie's List and called Garage Doors Indy's service number. FORTUNATELY, they were open until 11pm!!! They had a technician, Nick, come out and within 30 minutes after his arrival, our garage door worked as good as new!!! We needed to upgrade the springs, but the fact that we could get it done immediately and with the AL discount, it was fine. Nick was very efficient and was obviously knowledgeable.
Description of Work: My husband heard some funny sounds coming from the garage and it turned out to be garage door springs!

I called for garage door service. The tech came out and indicated that I could try to repair my old opener (15+ years old), but that I was better off replacing the system for almost the same cost. I agreed with his assessment and he said that he could waive the service call fee if they installed a new one. He scheduled a date two weeks later for the install and I received a call two business days beforehand to confirm. A different tech came out to install. He was flexible and quick. Did the job as requested. I presented an Angie's List coupon upon providing payment (as I have done with any other Angie's List coupon) and he indicated that it needed to go through the main office, which was closed. No receipt was provided before the tech left. I opted to call the office and they said that Angie's List's coupon would not apply because they do not "charge for labor" as part of the install package. I tried to provide another coupon I received in the mail related to service, but since this was an install, it did not apply. They did not hassle me that I tried to provide these upon payment, but merely said that they did not apply in my case. I think this is a bad practice, especially since I initially called for service. Clearly, I got the company's name from Angie's List and did not receive any benefit for being a member. It's not much money that I was looking for, but I am disappointed in the company's overall attitude toward the customer in multiple interactions. I am posting for others to be aware on this platform about coupons that are offered.

I found the company's information on Angie's list. Under company's info it was written that there was no travel charge and additional service fee. I called them and the lady asked my address and a brief information about the problem. We scheduled an appointment and technician came. He said my husband used the wrong brand of sensors and he replaced them with new ones and get it the opener to work. I was busy with my kids and could not focus on what he said and just paid the amount. Later night I checked the statement and saw the 99$ service charge! I called the company next day or two and explained the situation. The manager of the company first said she can't do anything because I was supposed to say that I am angies list member first time I made the phone call. I said that usually company's ask customers about how they get their info and you should have asked me. Plus I told the technician that we are angie's list member. She was not listening and trying to use many words to convince me that I am wrong. I said you are misleading people with your add and this is not a good business practice for a reputable company. I would like to inform you all that they charged me more than other companies. Before I hired the Garage door of Indianapolis, I called other companies and request estimates. They honestly stated that they charge service fee and the average was 60-80$. I paid a total of $255 for a simple sensor replacement job and I do think that I was overcharged.

We had previously used Garage Doors of Indianapolis, so called them to assess the situation. The technician they sent, Matt, was extremely professional, knowledgeable and courteous. At first he hoped that the 35+ year old unit could be repaired, but that was not possible. He then advised us of the various new opener systems available and indicated it could be replaced on the next business day. That morning they called and advised us of a 3-hour window when the work would be performed. Fortunately, Matt was assigned the job and we felt very good about his knowledge and skill. We also asked if the seal at the bottom of the door could be replaced and he suggested that the rollers should be replaced since they were showing wear. The new unit works great and Matt showed us how it works. He also replaced the rollers and seal. We are very pleased with the work he performed and that it was performed in such a timely manner.

Fantastic! I called them at 4 and they were at my house by 7 to repair things. After waiting a week on a non-responsive provider, this was an awesome breath of fresh air. They came, gave me an estimate and completed the work while I grabbed dinner with my family. And - as it turns out - I should have called them first. The door already had two service stickers on the inside from them. Now I know for next time this happens. Heartily and completely recommended. Awesome experience.
Description of Work: The spring on our garage door broke and we needed it repaired. I had purchased a deal/offer here on Angie's List about a week ago and had no one from that company contact me - or even be reachable. So, I canceled it and called these folks instead.

Clayton of Garage Doors of Indianapolis called almost immediately - said he would be there in 20 minutes - was on site in 15 - and then told us this usually takes up to 40 minutes. He was complete and ready to leave in 30. Did a prompt - professional job - and took our discount coupon. Billed us from his vehicle and we had an e-mailed receipt in less that 5 minutes. Great Job!

At first, they thought the circuit board went out, so they replaced it. That didn't help. They were able to raise the door manually with a button, but suggested that the wires in the motor were burnt up. It didn't make much sense to me how the motor could be burnt out, but they could still manually operate the door with a button. Nevertheless, they replaced the opener with a new Lift Master unit, and it's all working so far. I saw a little too late that they were offering a 10% discount for Angie's List members. I called today to try and see if they would honor the discount retroactively, and they refused. All in all, I'm a little upset with how this all turned out.

Wonderful experience from start to finish. The estimator was on-time, polite, cheerful, and helpful. He explained the problems with the existing door thoroughly; this was the second of three companies to provide an estimate. He gave me an estimate for replacement and then he offered other options, both up and down (insulation, various cladding, windows, colors) in a very informational style - not a hard sell kind of way. Installation was less than 10 days out. Installers (2) were on-time, polite, neat, cheerful and worked very efficiently. It took a little over 2 hours. They removed the old without any damage. Installed the door and opener using all new brackets, rails, sensors, everything. The seal was tight (no light or rain coming through - yep, it was raining). They set up the remotes and key pads like I wanted and showed me all the features and how to change the bulb and batteries. The installers were pleasant and worked amazingly fast and efficient - no extra steps taken - it was kinda fun to watch. They were very neat and took everything away - not so much as a screw was left! I really like the insulated door. I expect energy savings and I am surprised at how much sound blocking it provides too.

They made replacing those seals look so easy, but those rubber seals were old and tough! They have a $99 service fee for just showing up. I provided the seal. It took him 40 minutes and cost $149.00. Their skill is undeniable, but this service seems costly... perhaps I should have combine the seal replacement with a garage door tune-up to make this seem more cost effective...

Very well. Occurred about noon Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Customer Service called Saturday, got a live person (!) who was very helpful. No emergency and they were backed up, so deferred service to Sunday -- surprised this was available. They called 9:30 AM Sunday to advise of service window; tech called 15-minutes out. Rick was very friendly, knowledgable; replaced both cables, fixtures along bottom of door -- corroded. On-site time was just over one hour to put garage door back in service.

We came home after dinner and the garage door closed with a bang as the spring broke. I called Garage Door of Indianapolis at 7:45pm, they were fixing the door before 8:30pm, and the work was finished by 8:45pm. Wow! I was optimistic I could get the door fixed the same day, but I never expected it would be fixed in an hour. Both the operator and technician were pleasant and professional. They charged $150 for the after hours service (which they explained up front); the parts + labor was $150. I wouldn't hesitate to use Garage Doors of Indianapolis again.

I had a problem with a noisy garage door and responded to a mailer from Garage Doors of Indianapolis for a $39 tune up special. The scheduling was easy, the technician showed up promptly and was able to diagnose a broken spring, and was able to quickly install 2 new springs. I watched technician perform his work skillfully and believe that the repair was top notch. I have confidence that my door will work properly for years to come. My problem was the cost per spring and the $39 tune up became a $99 service call. Plus, their policy was to install 2 springs even if the other wasn't broken. It was $150 for one spring or $250 for both. Later, as I thought more about the transaction and researched more on Angie's List, I discovered at least 2 deals with this exact same service for 1/3 the cost. As I looked over my records from an identical service a few years ago, I noticed that the price was less than $200. This upset me and I called the technician, who told me to talk with the manager. I called and left a message but did not get a response. Also, when presenting me with service options, the technician tried to sell a new garage door with the deal that the $366 total would go toward the price of a new garage door. It seems silly to replace 2 brand new springs only to dispose of them a week or so later if I had the door replaced. That shows me the low value on the springs and the emphasis on a more profitable door. I just felt like I got a bad deal and their policies take advantage of the home owner via overly priced services and ways to sell a new garage door that I didn't necessarily need. The door is 20 years old and will need replacing in the next few years but it still works well. Never again will I trust mailers and always will I look to Angie's List first before jumping into something without doing more research, making comparisons, and learning the details of any "deal. I called because our garage door would not go down when I pressed the remote and the light would blink. The person who answered the phone explained that the garage door was sensing something in the way and gave me a couple of things to try. She suggested I try those and then call back for service if the suggestions didn't work. Well, the suggestions did work. I appreciate a company who will give me advice free of charge and save me the cost of a service call.

Repairman's initials should be B.W. as in Brian, Brad? I regret I am not recalling his name for certain right now. He was very efficient, courteous, and looking out for our interests. After his repairs, our doors run smooth and so quiet we can no longer hear the doors going up from inside the house. Work order number was 429808. I hope his name can be pulled up so he gets credit for a job well done.
