Flora Brothers Painting

We have used Flora several times for the exterior and interior of our home and have been incredibly pleased both times. From the estimate to the work completion, they have been nothing but professional, detail oriented and respectful of our property. I highly recommend them!!

As soon as the Hispanic crew arrived, they claimed the estimate does not cover this or that. They did not do the job entirely and asked extra payment to do the job as requested by us. When finished, painting crew said they want extra payment to clean up the thrash leftover by the drywall crew. Avoid this company.

They are very careful, they clean up and they did an excellence job.

A few years ago Flora Brothers did a professional job painting several rooms in our home. We did not hesitate to hire them again to remove wallpaper and paint our master bedroom/bath. Their work was unprofessional. The job, estimated to take 1.5 days took 3 days due to their problems. Day 1 a crew of workers seemed to get much done but left debris on the landing and stairs. On day two only one man came and worked until 6:30 p.m., promising to return at 8 a.m. and finish in two hours the next day. I cancelled my morning appointment to meet him here. When he didn't show by 9:30 a.m., I called project manager Billy and office manager Matt. A man and woman who could speak little English arrived between 11-12. When they saw the mess in the rooms, they motioned that they needed my broom, vacuum and trash bags. I called Matt again. Another person came who noticed areas that need touching up and asked for the paint. The missing employee had taken the paint with him which then resulted in a call to the paint store to mix new paint. Project manager Billy appeared as clean up was still in progress. He offered to hire a cleaning service but we declined because it was 3 p.m. Friday afternoon and no service would be able to come until Monday. Billy then offered $100 off the approximately $1600 bill. He asked me if I were satisfied with the job. I said no as I was too upset. I asked him what happened to the man who disappeared, and Billy replied, "We don't know. Maybe he was picked up." (My husband and I were concerned that someone wanted on a warrant had been working in our home! The next day we read about ICE arresting Mexican immigrants in Plainfield restaurants, so maybe that was why Billy made that comment??) After Billy and the "clean up" employees left, my husband discovered that the bathroom sink still splattered with paint was clogged with wall paper, the shower had paint splatters and its floor covered with grimy white stuff, and a reinforcement piece had not been reattached to a bathroom shelf. Through an e-mail we conveyed these details and our dissatisfaction. Billy called to apologize for the unprofessionalism and asked for a face-to-face meeting. We sent an e-mail that day declining the meeting but asking for a refund of the clean-up part of the job. Instead Matt again requested a face-to-face meeting. Because of constraints we could not manage a face-to-face meeting either time Flora requested it, and were confused why we couldn't discuss this via e-mail or phone calls as that was "the best plan of action" for us. The refund for the unprofessional part of the job was not addressed by Flora. Below is the last communication with/from Matt. We and his parents have been consumed with concern for him, spending long hours and nights at the hospital. As you can surely understand, we cannot take time for a face-to-face meeting to reach an agreement about a problem we did not cause, one caused by your employees' unprofessionalism. We have concluded that Flora Brothers is not the same company we worked with a few years ago, a company that provided excellent service and customer satisfaction. From Matt: I am sorry to hear that your grandson is ill, we will keep him in our thoughts and prayers. Flora Brothers Paining strives to provide the best service possible on every job. We have admitted that our service on this project was less than stellar, and we are just trying to do everything that we can to help with this situation. We have offered to have someone out to clean the areas that we worked in, and Billy took $100 off to the bill. I can see that neither of these has been suitable for you, and we are just trying to figure out what the best plan of action would be. I hope that you understand that we are trying to correct the situation the best that we can. We hope that your grandson is starting to feel better.

The painting itself is well done. The reason for the lower grade is the lack of clear, timely communication. The coordination of workers was dismal. Everyone had a different story or take on what was going to be done and who was going to do it. The workers left messes. When they removed something they did not put it back. I had to be more than firm to get trash picked up from my yard, to get the hardware in my bathroom reinstalled, and to get some very heavy curtains put back up. I replaced my deck furniture myself and did a fair amount of clean up.

Very professional and thorough job. Cleaned up after each work day. Would definitely hire again.

They were very fast and professional.

The professionalism that we received from the day we requested a quote all the way through to the end result was exceptional. We were kept informed of everything that was being done throughout the entire process - from rebuilding to staining.

Not good. They did not honor their agreement to " protect furniture, floors, cabinet, counters."( an itemized item on my estimate - prep area to paint for each room.) It was obvious that this wasn't done because there was paint on my new kitchen counter, cabinets, furniture, rugs. Quality wasn't that good and paint on woodwork, floor grout, scratched floors and more. Think the project was out of their norm. Didn't appreciate them cleaning out their painting containers & dumping them in my flower beds either. Reviews were good, don't know who these guys were that showed up, shocked now by the cost ($15,000). Sure didn't get what I thought I was paying for.

I met with Aaron who provided me with a very thorough estimate. The crew was great and completed the job in two days. They were very professional and took care to protect furniture and floors, moving furniture when necessary. I will use them again for future painting needs.

Contacted Flora Brothers via their website, and scheduled a time for them to come out and quote on painting most of the interior of our house. Aaron quickly reached out to me, and within a couple of days scheduled an appointment to come out and quote on the job. The quote was acceptable, and the deposit was paid. It was 5 (FIVE) weeks later before the work was scheduled to be performed. When the crew showed up, they were not what I was expecting. Aaron had informed me that him and his brother did all of the work, which was a big reason why I had chosen to use them. If I had known they were going to use sub contractors, I would have used a different company. One that was quicker, by far. The painters arrived on time, and quickly got to work. They were pleasant, and very efficient. Within the day, they had completed the work. Aaron then reached out to me to perform a follow up inspection, and to get final payment. During the final inspection, multiple items were pointed out as needing to be touched up. I was told that one of the painters would be back in touch with me to schedule a time. One of the painters did try scheduling once with me at times that were convenient to him, but very inconvenient for me. I informed him of times that I would be available, and did not hear back from him. Over two weeks went by, and I still had not heard from the painter. It wasn't until I had reached out to Aaron and told him that it needed to be rectified ASAP. He apologized, and one of the painters did reach out to me. Within two days the work was completed. No follow up was ever made to determine if the repairs had been done satisfactorily or not. It is now 5 months later, and the paint looks horrible. Multiple places that were repaired are needing further work, many places that should have been repaired have been found to have not been. We chose to not have the ceilings repainted at the same time. Aaron told us that they would just cut a straight line, and that any old paint that was on the ceilings would not be covered. This i understood. The new paint that they painters managed to get on the ceiling and trim work was very unexpected. I would have thought that professionals didn't mistakenly paint places that shouldnt have been. I could have done this level of work. For the color, we picked out a sherwin williams color, and were told that they would find a PPG color that was the same. The color was exactly what we asked for. The sheen however, was never discussed. An omission on our part, I guess. The painter never asked, and just used flat paint. We have small children, and with the paint used, our walls are again needing a fresh coat of paint. There is no cleaning the walls, they just look horrible. I regret using Flora Brothers, and have told several friends to steer clear of them when it came time to paint. I am once again looking for a quality painter, to come in and fix the job that I just had done. Update to review, based upon companies comments: The comments made are not misleading. 1.) Deposit was paid to Flora Brothers on 8/31/15. Date work performed, 10/5/15. That is exactly 5 weeks. a.) the deck was quoted on as well, but based upon the price quoted, it was determined that the deck could be replaced for approximately the same. The deck was always quoted as a separate job, one not dependent upon the other. I do not understand what their statements have to do with my review.2.) The schedule was discussed, I agree. Aaron informed me that him and his brother were very busy, and that is why the date was so far away. Multiple comments like this, made me believe that it was him and his brother that would be completing the work. 3.) The quote that was acceptable at the time was because it was going to be Aaron and his brother performing the work, not a sub contractor. 4.) The crew leader made 1 attempt to schedule the repairs needed, with only 2 times proposed. Neither time worked for me. I gave alternate times that I could be available. I was working for both proposed times, and conveyed that statement to the crew leader. I was informed that he would get back to me at another time with further possible times. It wasnt until I had contacted another company about completing the work, and had informed FBP that I would expect them to refund the amount I would have to pay another provider that the crew leader came out to perform the repairs.5.) During the final walkthrough, multiple areas were pointed out, and Aaron did agree that repairs were needed. Other areas that were pointed out I was informed were not going to be fixed. More than three areas were pointed out, Aaron was only willing to fix three of them however. Per the quote, all walls were going to be repaired to like new condition, however that was obviously not the case.6.) There was a follow up call to ensure that the crew leader had contacted me, and to apologize again. No discussion about Aaron coming out to inspect the work again.7.) Aaron did inform me that they use PPG for their paints. I told him that we wanted Simplify Beige, Sherwin Williams #6085. That was the extent of the conversation. NO discussion about sheen ever. I have the email conversations to prove this. As for washable and durable, I don't agree with either of these comments either. If it was, I wouldn't be looking to get the exact same work performed again, less than one year later.8.) I did say that I wished I had the ceilings painted, as there is previous (and now current) paint colors on the ceiling. The trim was quoted, and based upon that quote it was determined to be almost cheaper to replace then to sand and repaint.9.) The client was not satisfied with all areas during the walk through. Based upon service providers comments about areas not to be fixed, the fact that sub contractors had been substituted, and all other issues outlined already, I was just ready to be done with them.10.) I appreciate the apology for the delay, but if provider is going to continue to use sub contractors, it is still their responsibility to ensure the work is completed in a timely and satisfactory manner.11.) I understand that provider has an overall satisfactory rating, which had bearing in my decision to hire them. I cannot comment on others experiences with them, just mine. My experience with them has been less than satisfactory, hence the reivew.

This is the second time I have used them. They are very responsive, very communicative, they do good work and followed up nicely when I had a couple of questions. I thought they had missed a couple of spots and the came right out and took care of it. I really have no complaints with them. They did a nice job. Their whole process is pretty well automated. You can do it online in the sense that they will come out and give you an estimate for your work. They will also come out and take a look at what you require and submit a proposal online. The whole process can be reviewed and agreed to through that online submission. It provides everything in one place including the background of the company, their evidence of insurance, the proposal itself and a means where by you can accept it or not. Once you do that, they can get you on their schedule. I thought it was very efficient and professional. They are responsive if you have a question- they will call you too. They do a nice job by using the internet to make it efficient but also being available if you have got a question.

We previously used Flora Brothers for an interior painting project at our house two years ago. Based on that experience, when we were ready to have our exterior house trim painted, there was no question that we would hire them to do the job. We can't say enough good things about them! Their crew showed up as scheduled and went right to work pressure washing, caulking, and then painting. They worked hard the entire time they were here, and the entire project ended up taking a little less than two full days. Flora Brothers recommended using an exterior "satin-finish" paint instead of the "flat" we previously used when building the house ten years ago. Very happy with the satin finish and would highly recommend it for others. The owners and their crew members are very respectful and customer-oriented, they take extra care to protect your property from possible paint spills, and the overall quality of their work is definitely a step above. Anytime we need anything painted, we will definitely hire them again.

They were excellent. The price was great and quick return of the painting.

Flora Brothers has very courteous owners and employees. They were very professional and took great care to protect the furniture and floors while painting. They came in, moved furniture out of the way as needed, and started right on the job. Their team took a predetermined lunch break but were diligently working the rest of the time. The walls being painted took several coats since we were going from light colors to darker ones in the two rooms. When they finished the complete job that day, they put things back the way they found them.

Their service has gone well so far. They are scheduled to come do the work in December. The technician who came out for the estimate was very timely. It as easy to schedule the service and they were very responsive. He came out the day after I called and had the quote to me within 24 hours. The quote was very detailed and professionally written up.

It went great. They came at about 8:00 or 8:15 in the morning and started moving furniture and covering everything before they began to fix all the nail pops. They took down all the registers (all our furnace registers are in the ceiling), smoke detectors, and any other things they were able to paint around. After painting all the ceilings, our home is approximately 1800 sq. ft., they replaced everything, put all the furniture back, and even vacuumed after. This was all done by 4:30 p.m. You couldn't even tell that anyone was there that day. The ceilings looked great.

It was great. They did a good job, as always. I've been using them for years, and my whole family has used them as well.

Certainly would recommend Flora Bros. They gave me an estimate, explained the process. They were punctual and very professional. Our deck, etc. is beautiful. Well done.

They did great. They tarped all the carpet in the bedroom, including areas leading to the bedroom. They were very clean. Nice people!

It went great!!! They are the best painters we have ever had. They were very careful not to get paint on any of our stained wood trim and moved the furniture so it would also avoid paint. The finished job is beautiful, and I would give it an A+. When they finished they vacuumed, cleaned up and moved the furniture back in place. Justin even helped me rehang a large oil painting. Justin was also very pleasant and smiled whenever talking with you. The whole crew was very nice, and also professional. It was a pleasure having them in our home to do this work. We will definitely use them again, and highly recommend them to our relatives and friends.

My experience with them was really good. They are very professional and come on time. They did a great job and they have a good communication.

They did excellent work and were very clean and neat during their work and did a great job cleaning up after themselves when the job was completed. They do excellent work especially with the details. They were delayed in getting to my two jobs, but did keep in touch with me as to why they were delayed. They were doing outdoor work while the weather was on their side and have been very busy due to their good work and the word of mouth reputation they have developed. I was tolerant of their delay as I knew when they did arrive the work would be well done since I had seen other jobs they had completed with family and friends. They completed the work in a very timely manner and were extremely polite to me and considerate of my possessions.
