Farinella Restoration & Construction

I discovered Farinella Restoration by word of mouth in my neighborhood. Ric Farinella came out and estimated the cost of the work and assured me that the work could be completed on our time schedule, which required the work to be completed by June 15. Ric agreed to dig a trench to bury the electrical service to the house. When they arrived at the job, Ric said that the conduit I had was too big and that the line had to be buried 18 inches. deep. This turned out to be incorrect. The conduit was the size required by IPL and the line needed to be buried 36 inches deep. Ric said there was a misunderstanding and he raised the price of the trench when he learned that the depth was 36 inches. I expect that as a general contractor in the Indianapolis area, he would be aware of the construction requirements. He did not want to absorb the cost of his error. Ric's estimate to me was to "scrape and skim" the interior plaster walls. This was not completed. Instead, he had his crew fix the major cracks and pull out of the job. When I pointed this out to Ric, he again said that there was a misunderstanding on the what work was to be done, despite the fact that his own estimate read "scrape and skim all walls." Ric Ric agreed to reduce his price by 20%, but the work completed was only 50% of the original estimate. We did eventually agree to a payment amount that was agreeable to both of us. Ric's crew left the mud buckets and the drywall scraps laying in our back yard for us to clean up. Ric was good about responding to my requests and questions via email.
