I loved his service and professional. It was superb.

It went very well, although I didn't think it was going to. I had scheduled for a Monday morning, but that day the company had another job that turned out to be more demanding and Stephanie kept delaying the time of their arrival. Finally, she rescheduled for the next day. Scott arrived on time and it only took him about 45 minutes to complete the cleaning. He even put a little patch on a couple cracks that had developed. He was very careful to keep any of the smoke and ash out of my living room. Because I am an Angie's List member and because I had to have the service reschedule, they gave me $25 off the original price of $135. I really appreciated that.

Came and checked fireplace and chimney, then gave estimate. Workman came and sealed area within one week of estimate in a timely manner.

He had to tear out the entire chimney and go inside the chimney and re-brick from the top down.

The workers were friendly and quick. They arrived on time and did not leave any mess.

The crew was diligent about using footies indoors and spent about a hour cleaning from inside the house and up on the roof.

We were very pleased with how everything turned out. They were very good, professional, and always on time. The end result is better than I expected.

Since I recently moved into this house, I wanted to make sure that the fireplace had been well cared for by the previous owner. I had used Ely Stokes many years ago when I lived in another house with a wood-burning fireplace, and I didn't hesitate to call them again. Technician Scott was on time and the first thing he told me after examining the flue was that the chimney really didn't need a cleaning, but I elected to have him do the work anyway. He spread a large, clean drop cloth around the fireplace, then (from ground level)used a mechanical "broom" to clean the flue and a scraper to clean the brick of the fireplace. His vacuum eliminated all dust and dirt. My living room was spotless when he completed the job. The new generation of Ely Stokes is just as good as the old!

Great!!! I hadn't used the fireplace in about 5 years (and seldom used it when I did use it), so I had no idea whether it needed cleaned or not. They were honest and told me it didn't. They could have lied and got me for a chimney sweep, but they didn't. They put a cap on the chimney to prevent water from damaging the brick in the fireplace. He showed me how to completely close my damper; it had been open for 5 years!!! AGH! The reduction in heat bills this winter alone probably made up for the cost of the visit! They were courteous and offered to wear booties over their shoes and they were fast! Would recommend them for sure!

Appointment scheduled about a month ahead. Called on day of appointment and asked if they could come earlier than scheduled.(OK with me.) Arrived within expected time frame. Two workers were cordial and efficient. Used drop cloths and shoe covers. Cost was exactly as previously stated for both cleaning and chimney cap. I noticed later in the day that the damper was left open but this caused no harm.

We moved into our house this summer, so we needed to determine if we could use our fireplace safely. I made an appointment during the busy season, so I didn't think the 3-week lead time was unreasonable. I called them to confirm and they came within 30 minutes of our appointment. Ely Stokes was very courteous and professional. He not only inspected the fireplace, but he explained how to work the kind I had (tall two-story flue) "if it were his fireplace." He said it did not need to be cleaned but found a problem with the liner. He explained the reasons why it is a fire hazard to leave it uncorrected. We knew that our brickwork outside was in need of repair, too, so he explained very clearly how one could repair the liner in conjunction with rebuilding the chimney. He gave me quote and I would like to use him in the spring. He clearly has a solid knowledge of his work and takes the time to educate the customer. Great experience.

They are punctual, neat, clean, and very outstanding.

It went well. They came in and put covers on their shoes immediately. They did this each time they went outside and came back in. They patched the bricks and were gone. We were happy with them because we thought we were going to have to spend about $100 to have the chimney swept and we ended up spending only $30.00. They were previously scheduled on another date but called and said their truck broke down. They did offer to sweep our chimney at half price because of this.

The workers were great, on time and cleaned up there mess. Communication was poor and the office staff did not follow up with the work in a timely manner. The scheduling was a bit off. They called the day there were supposed to be at the house and told me they weren't going to make it. They told me the next available day was two and half weeks out. I told them that wouldn't work so they came the next day and completed most of the work. Due to the humidity they couldn't do the water proofing and they didn't come back out until three weeks later to finish that work which required several follow up calls on my part to schedule. There was no weather delay. They did give me a little discount for changing the day the first time.

The representatives were courteous, professional, and did their work well and quickly. We are very satisfied so far.

It took approximately a week to schedule the work. James and crew arrived on time and rebuilt the chimney in two days. The waterproofing and other work was completed the following week. The workers were courteous, cleaned up after themselves and took pride in their work. The chimney looks great and we are very pleased with the results. After a big rain, a small amount of water seeped into the house at the ceiling near the chimney. Ely Stokes was out the next day to inspect the situation. Some additional caulking was needed around the chimney flashing. I'm confident that if additional problems arise, Ely Stokes will respond promptly and stand by their work. It was a pleasure working with this company.

Well, I called after finding them on Angie's List. The profile that THEY put on here said by appointment only. That is however untrue. They work Monday - Friday 8-5. So if you work, they will not work with you. I felt that they are untrue because of this misleading story. By appointment only means....we only serve who we want to. So if you are looking for a chimney replacement or repair, they probably don't want your business because they sure didn't want mine. I would not recommend them. Plus there are other companies who offer Angie's List member discounts who are Super Service Award winners.

Went very well. They were prompt and clean.

When cleaning our chimney, they discovered we had had a fire near the top of the chimney and the top flue liner was cracked. They did the regular cleaning and also used a wire brush to remove the creosote buildup. We had not had our fireplace cleaned in 3 seasons. Also while inspecting the chimney, they pointed out that the crown was not in good condition. We were already aware it had some problems and had asked them to check it, so we didn't feel they were just trying to come up with more work to charge us for. We scheduled them to come back later and they totally replaced the crown, tuck-pointed the chimney, replaced the top flue liner, and waterproofed the outside. This took several visits. They were always very professional and knowledgeable.

They were prompt, polite, and they did a complete job. James pointed out something that I needed to pay attention to, that was not connected to the work they did. I appreciated him pointing that out, and took care of it. They did not push any services on me. They made some suggestions and let me make a decision. Their price was fair in comparison to work they'd done for us before.

They were absolutely GREAT - on time, personable, and explained everything. I'm sad that my fireplace isn't safe to use right now, but was presented with options, and appreciated that they discussed some of the lower-cost options with me, as well as some things I can do right now to improve the heating & cooling efficiency in my home while I'm waiting to repair the chimney (like adding a damper). When I do get the damper installed, I'll likely go with them. The expense of repairing the chimney is prohibitive at this time, but I'll consider it in the future.
