Great service. Friendly, professional employee educated me how to use chimney safely and efficiently.

Everything went great - showed up on time, and was quick with the cleaning and did a great job.

They came out and cleaned the chimney. They found that I had quite a problem with the cap and liner. The chimney lining that had been installed several years ago hadn't been put in correctly. I asked him to write me up an estimate when he got back to the office. I have called them 3-4 times to get that estimate and finally a women at the office said they would send it out to my email, but I still have never received anything from them. This has been since September. I have left several messages and called several times.

It went ok. They do good work but are pricey, I have used them a few times over the last 8 years to clean and do some firebox tuck pointing. However this review is mostly based on the recent experience I had with them this last summer trying to get some estimates on rebuilding a chimney cap and repairing some masonry on the steps. They were extremely unprofessional, and it took me harassing them for three weeks to get a guy to finally come out and do an estimate. Repeatedly they said they'd call back, but never did, supposedly they kept losing my contact information or some other excuse. I ended up doing some of the work myself and hiring the rest of it out to a more responsive company. I will never call them again for any reason.

This is the first time I used Ely Stokes. I will certainly use them again! First, the tech arrived on time. He explained what he would do to clean the system. He pulled dryer away from the wall, removed and cleaned out the flexible pipe connecting the dryer to the vent pipe. He then attached a powerful blower to the vent pipe leading outdoors, turned it on. Using a ladder from his truck he disconnected the outdoor vent shutter valve and cleaned the valve and the interior of the vent with a long flexible shaft mounted wire brush. When done he also cleaned up the debris from the yard area that had blown out. Inside he cleaned the interior of the dryer, too. Thorough, efficient, effective, and on time. Repeating, I will use them again!

Some confusion about the time/date of the appointment and it got cancelled by the office staff the first time around. Technician was late to arrive but friendly and thorough.

A roofing company did work on my chimney as part of a whole house makeover after which I experienced reduced updraft resulting in most of the smoke entering the house instead of venting outdoors, rendering the TV room fireplace unusable. Ely Stokes cleaned the fireplace and chimney and found the cause of the problem - the roofing company had installed a non-approved device that blocked the top of the chimney. Ely Stokes advised that no repair was possible, I would have to tear out and replace the entire fireplace and chimney system at a cost of many thousands of dollars! My local Carmel fireplace store referred me to an expert for a second opinion. The expert knew where to find genuine manufacturer parts and repaired the chimney quickly and for far, far less than full replacement cost. I made a claim against the roofing company that caused the problem in the first place and they did reimburse the full repair cost. I would call Ely Stokes again but only for chimney cleaning and other quick and simple jobs.

Very difficult to get replies from the business. Friendly when calling me but slow. They found much that needed repair and tried to tell me it was caused by a fire and they could "tell" my insurance agent that there was fire damaged. Another company denied that was the issue and gave me s much lower quote.

I have an Angie's List Big Deal for a chimney sweep and inspection. The service provider did a great job and I was happy with my service.

was able to work on a saturday which was very helpful. was very professional and took time explaining how fireplace functioned the positive things about it such as it's safety and any concerns about it's condition. did not try and sale us other products... concentrated on making sure our fireplace was functioning properly and safely, he cleaned chimney and firebox, grate,gas logs and burner..even went beyond expectations by cleaning fireplace doors...was very comprehensive

I bought a $99 deal to inspect and sweep a fireplace - since we RARELY use our fireplaces. Winter 2013 resulted in a 2 day blackout and we ended up using both fireplaces for heat. With winter 2014 coming I decided to get the deal to assure we were okay to burn fires - in case we needed to again... Rob arrived in his Chimney Sweep hat! He performed the sweep and inspection. Up on the roof he gave me the news about the crown seal and suggested the cricket - both - really expensive. Once I okayed the crown seal - he got to work. I thought the deal would cover the work at a savings - and I figured I'd be paying for the second sweep and that would be it. Boy - was I wrong. All of the work was needed and necessary but I had nothing to judge from on cost of repair and whether the work was required immediately/on the spot. I went with what I believed would keep my family safe - and paid for the repair. When all was said and done - we have a usable workable fireplace "b" and are very cautious with fireplace "a". I'm not sure I got a good deal - but safety first - we are ready for winter.

Ordered Stainless Steel Chimney Cap with installation and chimney inspection for $99. Spoke to Stephanie at the company and she told me that this offer was not compatible with the type of chimney cap we currently have. Advised that they could provide a replacement cap similar to the one we now have on the house but it would be $ 794.00 She apologized for mix up and said to contact Angie's list and they could process a refund.

He didn't really tell me what I wanted to hear (fireplace is on it's last legs), but I was happy with the service and professionalism. He did take the time to explain everything and what to expect when the time comes to replace my fireplace. I would highly recommend Ely Stokes to anybody considering them in the future.

The level 1 inspection revealed some items that needed to be addressed, specifically, adding an exterior mortar crown, small areas needing tuck pointing, and shoulders needing to be sloped. When I called back to get a quote, they offered to take my name and number and call me back with the information. A week later and no call, so I called them back. Apparently, the person I talked with first wrote my number down incorrectly. They could not find my paperwork so they asked if they could call me with the information. I had her repeat my number after I gave it to confirm that they had the correct number. I was promised a call back that day. A week later and I called them again. I was told the person I needed to speak with was on another line and she would call me back as soon as she was finished. Its been close to an hour now and no return call. Apparently, they do not want my business very badly. There are other companies that service chimneys in the Indianapolis area. Hopefully, they return phone calls.

Service went well and quick. The chimney looks great. We'd use Ely Stokes in the future.

They knocked on my door but by the time I got to the door, he was already on the roof. I wanted him to come down so we can discuss what I wanted from the appointment. He left some notes in my mailbox as to what he did but I did not understand it. I could not talk to him directly so I was questioning if he even did anything. I wanted a quote for addition work to be done and they would not give that to me. Also, when I purchased the deal, I put notes to schedule with them. I never heard from them so I had to call them and they did not even have record that I purchased the deal.

The technician was friendly, professional, and extremely helpful! And the only reason I gave a less than perfect rating on responsiveness is because the office was apparently very busy at this time of the year, so not quite as quick to respond as I'd have liked - it took a few days to get the appointment scheduled. But once it was done, was thrilled!
