Ely Stokes Inc. Chimney, Fireplace & Masonry

Went well. Technician made sure everything was in working order and even educated us on proper use and some of the other functionality.

He inspected both chimneys. He told me that I needed a six inch aluminum liner inside my water/furnace chimney. His estimate was $1,395.00. $135.00 for the rain cap. I thought this very expensive. I found the same liner online for $135.00. The rain cap at Menards for $30.00. I spoke to office person. I asked her for a detailed estimate. She said they don't offer a detailed one. I am thinking to myself why is this so expensive. Two person at $100.00/hour. It be 16 labors hours to do my chimney. And still be under $500.00 max budget. It does not take a rocket scientist to do this task. It just take a savvy consumer to know something about installing a liner in a chimney. I always ask for an estimate. I would not take my car to repair shop without getting one. Same goes for a new roof or windows. This company doesn't want to provide one. There is a slim chance I use them again.

They did the job quickly and well. In addition, they pointed out problems that need to be corrected with the chimney lining and the pipe from the stove to the chimney.

Well, plus noticed item with gas line, so fixed that too.

John (service tech) showed up on time and also gave me a courtesy call before the arrival. He wore protective clothing and laid out a protective cover to prevent getting dirt on my carpets, and performed an outstanding job!

Once it was scheduled, it went very well. The work was purchased as a special on Angie's List. The price was good, the young man who performed the work took some time to explain some concerns about the fireplace. The only problem was that it took several weeks to schedule and I'm not sure why but the work to be done was not urgent so I was not impacted by the delay.

Great! Took them awhile to get back with me to schedule when I registered with a coupon online. I called them directly and no problems!

I scheduled a time that was convenient for me. The technician arrived on time and completed the inspection and cleaning in a timely manner . He did replace a safety clip as well. He answered several questions that I had. I definitely will use again.

Workman arrived within the window provided by the business, but I did not receive a call prior to his arrival as I was told would happen. Work was performed satisfactorily.

I purchased an Angie's list deal for this service. Communication with the vendor for scheduling was prompt and courteous. Technician arrived on time and was careful and respectful of the home regarding cleanliness. Tech took the time to explain what he was seeing and what the significance was. My only negative comment, which is not really a negative since this is outside the scope of the service, was that two parts were found that needed replacing, and the price quoted seemed very high. I declined these and ended up replacing them myself for a fraction of the cost- took about 10 minutes.

Exceptional! John arrived on time, began work immediately. He was thoroughly prepared taking care to protect all areas from dirt, dust, ashes. I had numerous questions for John. We have a gas burning fireplace but never use it. We would prefer wood burning. John explained what type of insert we had, how it functioned and whether or not it could be used for wood burning. We decided to cap off the gas and prepare it for wood burning. John removed the gas implements (logs, rocks, sand, gas insert). He offered to either remove them from our house or store them in our garage. He then thoroughly cleaned the fireplace. He did NOT leave any mess. The fireplace now looks brand new, it is so clean. John was patient, explaining everything he did and why. He also inspected our chimney. He took pictures of the problems to e-mail us with an estimate of the repair. I found the service to be exceptional. Everything was explained, done thoroughly and cleanly. John was very polite and personable.

I purchased a deal to have my chimney cleaned. After purchasing I realized that I did not need the service, so I gave Ely Stokes a call to ask about a cancellation. They were most gracious and very pleasant to speak to. Would definitely recommend them!

Eli Stokes is very unresponsive. No one every answers the phone and their is ability to leave a voicemail.

I am going to have to rate "responsiveness" as a "C". After waiting several days after purchasing this on Angie's List and not hearing anything, I contacted the company. Stephanie was very apologetic and stated Angie's List had failed to send her notification of the purchase as they usually did. I then scheduled a timeframe of 11-12 for arrival and John arrived right at 1:00. I noted on his paperwork the timeframe written was 12-1, so not sure where the mixup was on that. However, that was not a problem for me today as I had no appts outside my home. I was very pleased with the way John took his time and explained everything to me. He wore booties over his shoes and spread a tarp in front of the fireplace before starting. Since I was also interested in glass doors he gave me much needed advice about that and I did purchase some which will be installed on another day. I will definitely use this company again.

Very well, although the cleaner was late (I had an appointment window of 3:00 to 4:00; he called at 4:15 and said he could be there shortly before 5:00). I wasn't too concerned about this because I don't think that's too unusual for an appointment toward the end of the day. Once the chimney sweep arrived, he did a very thorough job and explained more about my fireplace than I'd ever previously been told by chimney cleaners. He showed me the interior on the camera, too. And, best of all, he did NOT try to sell me something. I'd hired this company because they had a special running on Angie's List, but I would not hesitate to hire them again, even at full price.

It was great. The rep who did the work was very informative and polite. The work was very well done. They had given me an arrival time of 2:30-3:30 but didn't arrive til 4:30. That was the only issue.

John arrived on time and called ahead to say he might be late; however, he did arrive as scheduled. John was courteous, told me what he was going to do and performed the work well and kept everything clean. Also, he explained how to reset my remote for the gas logs. I have hired this company previously and I will do so again.

Very professional job. I have used them in the past for our home and for our rental properties that have fireplaces. I have found their work to be very professional, They not only clean the chimney but make sure the fireplace is safe to use. There is never a speck of dirt left behind in the house when they are done.

During our original appointment the power was out due to storms and they were extremely flexible about rescheduling and made sure we were a priority the following week. Communication was clear and we were very happy with the results.
