I did not hire Elk roofing because the quote left a bit to be desired when compared to other roofing quotes. They had the best price by about $1000, but the quote was very informal, not something I felt comfortable with since the roof is such an important part of the house. I have no doubt they do good work given the Angie's List ratings, but as stated earlier, the quote did not give me a level of comfort that I wanted. I would recommend that Elk include the following with their quotes, an insurance certificate, the price for decking if required once the tear off is done, the price for gutter boards if required, etc. The company was easy to deal with, they returned calls and got me a quote very quickly.

I know they are busy with all the hail damage, but there is no excuse for service this poor. I was told someone would be out to look for hail damage within one week. After two weeks I called to see where they were and was told there was an inspector "up in my area, with a stack of addresses to look at", and I should be in that stack. It's been four weeks now and they are "no call - no show".

The significant hail damage in the area this year made getting a roofing contractor to even estimate the job difficult. Jeff was able to get the work done in a timely manner and on budget, and was very courteous and thorough in explaining what he was doing and why.

I thought they were very professional, and punctual.

Elk was timely and did an outstanding job. Hand nailed everything and used an EXPERIENCED crew to do the job. Highly recommended.

The owner and crew was very responsive and did an excellent job. The work was done in the cold of winter and they still got it done in a timely manner and with only one problem. I called them concerning the problem and they came right out and fixed the problem with no issues. The crew did a great job cleaning up each day and made very little mess. I would use this company again.

During an early spring wind/thunderstorm our roof had several shingles blown/ripped off of our roof. We were very concerned about the possibility of a leaking roof with another storm forecast for the following day. Elk was able to come the same day we called and replaced 8-10 shingles on our roof. Very happy with the response and prompt service. We have already contacted them for another roofing estimate and are considering their very comparable bid on the project.

I called Elk to get an estimate on a roof repair. The guy that came to give the estimate was very helpful and examined our roof and told us of an even larger repair, that it had hail damage and really needed to be replaced. Since we were also working with our homeowners ins. co. they sent an adjuster to come measure and meet up with the Elk Roofing guy. When I got the estimate from Elk and the estimated cost from the ins. adjuster they were vastly different in price (several thousand). I knew I'd call the homeowners ins. but first I called Elk to see what they would tell me. When I explained it to the woman (Lucille I believe), instead of helping me problem solve (Well, let's re-calculate and see if there's a mistake, or maybe you should call your ins. co...) she got into confrontation mode with me, arguing that the price was reasonable, etc etc, which wasn't even what I was calling about! Even though I liked the guy that came out, I got a bad vibe from that and went w/ another co.

An Angie's List company, with a good reputation and recommended by another Angie's List company that we do business, it turned out to be a very pleasant experience. They came out, inspected the problem area, told me what was needed to repair the problem and fixed it the next day. The work is guaranteed and I couldn't ask for better service.

ELK CAME TO OUR HOME TO GIVE US AN ESTIMATE TO FIX A LEAK ON OUR ROOF. THE ELK EMPLOYEE CLIMBED ONTO OUR ROOF AND CLAIMED WE HAD SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE HAIL DAMAGE AND THAT WE WERE IN NEED OF AN ENTIRE NEW ROOF, AND HE EXPECTED INSURANCE WOULD COVER MOST IF NOT ALL COSTS. WE RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE IN EXCESS OF $12,000.00 FOR THE NEW ROOF FROM ELK. WE THEN HAD TWO OTHER ANGIE'S LIST APPROVED ROOFING COMPANIES TO COME OUT TO REVIEW THE SCOPE OF DAMAGE AND BOTH COMPANIES AGREED THERE WAS ABSOLUTLEY POSITIVELY NO EVIDENCE OF ANY HAIL DAMAGE. WE HAD THE ROOF REPAIRED FOR $700.00 BY ANOTHER COMPANY, AND THE LEAK HAS STOPPED.

THEY WERE QUITE RESPONSIVE. THE WOMAN WHO ANSWERS THE PHONE IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HELPFUL. WE GOT TO CHOOSE THE ROOF COLOR THAT WE LIKED. WE HAD NUMEROUS QUESTION BEFORE THE JOB AND SHE WAS ALWAYS ABLE TO ANSWER THEM WITH A GREAT DEAL OF PATIENCE. WE ARE QUITE PLEASED WITH THE WORK.

THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO COME ON A THURSDAY NO CALL, NO SHOW. I CALLED THEM BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME TO SET A NEW APPOINTMENT, THEY NEVER RETURNED MY CALL.

DID GOOD WORK, THEY WERE FAIR IN ADJUSTING THE PRICE, AFTER FINDING THE WORK WAS MORE INVOLVED THAN ANTICIPATED. PLEASED WITH THE PROCESS & THE RESULTS.

EXCELLENT. THEY WERE PROMPT, COURTEOUS AND WORKED WELL.

THEY WERE LATE FOR THE INITIAL APPOINTMENT, AND THIS CAUSED US TO USE ANOTHER PROVIDER. THEY DID QUOTE A LOWER COST, AND WERE MOSTLY PROFESSIONAL IN ALL OTHER ASPECTS, AND SENT A PROPOSAL RATHER QUICKLY.

IT'S ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

THEY CAME ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FIRST CALL FOR AN INITIAL ESTIMATE, THOUGH IT TOOK A COUPLE OF PHONE CALLS TO GET THEM TO DO THE JOB. WORK AND CLEANUP HAVE ALWAYS BEEN GOOD.

HE WAS VERY PROMPT IN GETTING THE WORK DONE AND I WAS PLEASED WITH THE PRICING. ALSO THE QUALITY OF WORK SEEM TO BE HIGH.

THE ROOF IS ACTUALLY IN GOOD SHAPE, SO THEY REFERRED ME TO ANOTHER COMPANY TO REPAIR THE CHIMNEY, AS IT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. ELK ROOFING WAS VERY HELPFUL AND I WILL CONTACT THEM FOR ROOF REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENT WHEN TIME COMES.

I CALLED THEM TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL BACK TO MAKE THE APPOINTMENT AND I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK AFTER 3 WEEKS.

DIDN'T RETURN CALL TO SETUP APPOINTMENT TO EXAMINE MY ROOF.

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE.

WEVE ALWAYS BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THEM. THE PEOPLE ARE REALLY NICE, THEY ARE FAMILY OWNED AND I REALLY LIKE THAT THEY USE HAMMERS AND NAILS AS OPPOSED TO A NAIL GUN. THE WORK IS EXCELLENT AND THE ROOF LOOKS GREAT. THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD WAS THAT THEY LEFT NAILS IN THE GUTTERS AND WHEN THEY CAME BACK OUT TO CLEAN THEM UP THEY STILL MISSED QUITE A FEW. OTHER THAN THAT WE WERE VERY PLEASED. WE WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN AND HAVE USED THEM IN THE PAST. THEY DO EXCELLENT WORK!
