Elgin Water Care

The man that installed the softener for us was very personable and nice. Overall, the job went completely smoothly. It is working fine and we have very soft water! They are a conscientious company and very pleasant to work with.

I spent $1200 on that job. They were prompt and responded quickly. I have been happy with their products and work in the past.

After finding out that the water was hard, they told us we needed a new circuit board. Since we have a culligan softner, I asked if we should call culligan. They said they were able to work on this brand, but since they would have to order the part from culligan and mark up the price, it would be cheaper if we got it. Since we were not sure if we'd get the right part, we decided to deal directly with culligan. It took them a only a few minutes to diagnose the problem----and it was not the circuit board. Both repairmen missed the problem, but they tried hard. We called this conpany since it got such good reviews. They may do good work on Elgin sottners, but I would not call them for a different brand.

The technician was late, did not remove or cover his shoes and tracked snow through my house. I had to move the silk drapes up off of the floor in order to avoid his stepping on them. A few minutes after he arrived, his cell phone rang. He talked on the phone (personal call, not his office) almost the entire time he was at my home. I was surprised to find a fuel surcharge on my bill, even though I live less than five minutes from Elgin. I was also surprised to find that the price had gone up $10.50 from the previous year. The filter itself does not cost half of that. I will be calling a different company when the filter needs to be changed again.

Doug at Elgin went over all my options and answered my questions about water softners and helped me to understand why my Easy Water system was working as expected. They came out and checked the space and plumbing and let me know that I would only need to install the softner and get $100 discount on my original quote. I called back a couple weeks later to install the equipment and they worked on my schedule. The gentleman who installed did a quick and professional job and went over the equipment with me and answered my questions.

As explained above, everything went well and this Company demonstrates a high level of customer service. I will most definitely call them again for their services.

The gentleman who assessed the old water conditioner and provided me with options and estimate was excellent. Prompt, efficient and truthful. He told me that he would give me a good price for replacing both the water conditioner and the drinking water system. Then when he checked the quality of the drinking water, he said the membrane seemed to be working very well and that I could probably go another few years with just changing filters once a year. I appreciate that honesty. The man who did the actual replacement performed the work efficiently, but it took about 90 minutes longer than I had been quoted. In fariness, he did have to put in some extra pipe that required soldering and such - but I had not arranged to be that late for work. However we are very pleased with the professionalism of the employees we encountered and signed up for salt delivery, too. I would definitely recommend them and use them again if I needed to.

We had several people come out. These guys seemed very laid back and wanted to be informative rather than give us a hard sell.

Technician arrived on time and installed the water softener. He reexplained how it operated and removed our old system.

Great experience with the installer ... visited Elgins showroom on a Saturday morning ... talked with the installer/service tech (Greg) ... installatrion made by Greg the following Monday afternoon.

Had a different company to come and service our water softener first time but not only did they not fix the problem, they wanted to come back and charge us another $200. I did not trust them and called Elgin who got me in touch with a very kind and helpful person, Dale, who said if I could come to the store he would show me what to do to get it fixed so the water would be down as it should be in the water/salt bin. He only charge me 3.75 for the parts and told me to call him. Well I did, but it still didn't work so I called to get a technician to come out the very next day. Tom came and looked it over and determined that the reason it wouldn't work is because the original tech from the first company did not set and c*** the valve seats he installed. So he removed and reseated them and put the system into regeneration and it started drawing brine and working properly. He only charged me a service call which is $89, but with the $15 Angie's List coupon it was only 75.75. He also gave me his number to call since he lives close by if I had a problem with it. He was very careful to wipe his feet before he walked on the carpet. Such a nice person. I felt comfortable with him and his knowledge and their fair prices. So wanted to tell you too!

Very prompt in getting it, our and getting installed. They were good because they sold me a refurbished product at a good price. It was an easy decision. After the installed it, I had a leak, and they were very prompt in getting the leak fixed.

They come once and month and we have had no issues; it works perfectly. They call beforehand, are clean, and careful.

I called several water softener dealers to inquire if there was a system that used less salt than my old system. Everyone wanted to sell me a new one for $1200 or more. Elgin said that I should just change the recycle time to every 4-6 days instead of every other day, and that a new system was not needed. Honest people, and that is why I continue to use them over the years.

They were fantastic. The person who came out was professional and was on time. He was patient with my questions. It is a strange experience having a water softener but it works well.

They were very knowledgeable and professional. His estimate was MUCH lower than their competitors, by at least half as much. This company was great because they did not market themselves too highly. I hate when companies push extra services, and they were really good at just doing what I asked them to do.

I was really pleased with the honest assessment of my old water softener and recommendation for a new softener. Trip fee from initial visit was waved. The new softener is performing much better than the old one.

Tom was wonderful! He was able to fix my softener and saved me from having to pay for a new one! He showed me some things that I can do on my own and fixed some things. I was very pleased.

It is nice for me. I call them when I need the salt and then they call me when they are in my area of town and then they will bring it by when it is convenient.

An install tech came out (I think it was Tim). He spent about 2.5 hours doing the install. He was polite and considerate of my house. Didn't make a big mess and cleaned up after himself. When it was all said and done, the softener was installed and working. He tested the water at various locations in the house. I was a little disappointed to find out that my kitchen sink faucet and fridge water dispenser were not tied into the system. I had thought the only questionable water sources were the outside faucets, Regardless, it's not a huge deal. I am very satisfied so far.

The water from the "cold" faucet showed it not to be soft at the time when I took the sample. The president suggested that he have a serviceman stop by when he was in the neighborhood and check the softener to see if it was working properly. Within a couple of days, a serviceman called and came by to check the system. The water was soft from both faucets. He adjusted the settings to make the water softer, checked out what kind of shower filter I had purchased (not from Elgin), and told me he thought the adjustments would make a difference. He did not try to sell me another filter that would be placed between the softener and wanted me to follow up in a week to let him know how I felt things were going. He did call and leave a message. I have to give it a bit more time before I know if the hair color is improving. (It certainly is no worse at this point, and I believe things are moving in the right direction.) It will just take time. I appreciated them coming without having to pay a service call and their willingness to work toward a satisfactory solution to my problem. I wish I had talked to them first before spending a lot of money on hair products and stressing about the cause!

They give good service and are consciences.

They did a great job. They helped us choose one that would meet our family's needs. Three days after installation we had a leak. They were very responsive and had someone at our house quickly to make the repair.

He was able to to give me several reasons as to why the unit was not functioning properly. He was able to make some very minor adjustments in a short time. A service call is usually $89. He said he was going to see if he could get that rate reduced because the job was so minor. They have not billed me yet. I had positive results with this company.
