Elgin Water Care

He was able to to give me several reasons as to why the unit was not functioning properly. He was able to make some very minor adjustments in a short time. A service call is usually $89. He said he was going to see if he could get that rate reduced because the job was so minor. They have not billed me yet. I had positive results with this company.

It cost initially $85 to install it, and $25 a month for the softener. Overall, the experience went very good. They actually had one of the better softeners available for rental, a lot of companies don't offer rentals. The softener is very good, it doesn't use much salt at all. They were easy to get a hold of, they came when they said they would. The pricing, I felt, was very good. I spoke with the owner, who was like 84, and told me all about the different softeners and he said that he hoped to hear back from me, and they did! I would absolutely use them again in the future.

The old unit failed on a Saturday. I called the answering service and promptly received a call from a knowledgeable technician. I provided the symptoms and the technician told me to bypass the unit until service arrived. I then obtained pricing info from competitors and had some questions about difference in pricing of units available at home improvement centers vs. water softener experts. The questions were answered and the job was scheduled. They called and arrived as scheduled and performed the job.

They did an okay job. It wasn't installed correctly the first time and they had to come out again to fix their mistakes. I think I probably paid a little bit more than I should have. It is a good water softener, though.

Everything was fine. I dealt with the owner with no problems agreeing to the contract. I thought the two workers who came out were a little careless. They left without turning the valve on to the water softener. They shut off the valve under the sink to the RO system, which I had to turn on.

They park the truck at our back gate, walk over 400 ft down steps, across the deck, into the house, and all the way to the back basement. They do this with 14 bags per delivery. They go beyond the call of duty. Excellent Service! Their price seems reasonable, but I'm still waiting on the bill.

They were very nice when they came out. I loved the information they gave me and the tech that came out. They were very informative and respectful.

They came out to fix a leak in the water softener. He took away some old equipment. He was on time and very professional. He went above and beyond. The price was very good. He did determine the problem so that my husband could fix it because it wasn't the water softener. I would highly recommend him.

They were awesome. They had great response time and great follow up. The workers that came to do the job were very professional and friendly. The job was done in an appropriate amount of time.

We stopped at their office/showroom in Broad Ripple. The people there were very knowledgeable, honest and helpful. We purchased the system and set up a deliver and installation time. The installer showed up on time, was very neat and efficient, did an excellent job with the plumbing and gave good clear instructions on the units use. He removed the old water conditioner, cleaned everything up, all in a very short time.

They call every month to say when they are coming out and then send me a bill. They are great.

Installation went fine, but I thought the technician could have explained more about system operation. The softener worked fine for a few days but then I discovered that the system had been leaking. It stopped leaking, but I made an after hours call to the company. I talked to a company technician that evening and he satisfied me that the system would be okay until someone could come out the next day. The next morning it was fixed and we have had no further problems.

I visited the Elgin office twice while I was deciding on the water softener. I also visited one other company. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Mr. Hull, the President, spent a lot of time fully answering all of my questions, and assured me that the new softener brand was very reliable. The softener also has a very good warranty. The installer did a good job. Price was a little bit high, but comparable to prices from other companies and reasonable given the warranty. I did ask about any discounts, and was reminded about the Angie's List coupon. However, I forgot about the coupon when I paid the installer and he did not ask if I had a coupon. Also, I picked up an Elgin brochure which I did not read until after the installation. The brochure mentioned a 2% discount for cash, and I paid by check. However, this 2% discount was not mentioned to me. I should have been on top of both of these up front. Overall I am very satisfied with the new water softener and with Elgin. Their location not far from my neighborhood is a plus.

They were very good. They were very willing to answer questions. They cleaned up the mess. They went above and beyond what they were contracted to do.

The whole experience was great. I met with the owner at the company's sales room in Broad Ripple and he walked me through the different features of the 3 different water softeners I was considering. He was very knowledgeable and there was no pressure to get a particular unit. I was also impressed that this was a third generation, locally owned company. They scheduled the install for 3 days later and the technician that installed it was prompt, courteous, and thorough. Interestingly I priced a similar unit at Culligan and it was twice the price.

I felt like they were honest and helpful. They arrived on time, and it took about an hour. They took the filter away to repair it and brought it back.

They are very honest. They fill the tank with water when it needs it and they check it every time they are here. They are great. I even leave the door open for them when I am not here to let them in. I would recommend to anyone.

Our experience with Elgin was wonderful! I originally called in to get an appointment because they were so highly rated on Angie's List. The representative that I spoke with on the phone was friendly, completely knowledgable of their products, and even anticipated and was ready to answer all the questions I had. They had a rep out the next day to give us an estimate to install a rental water softener system. I espeically liked that they gave us tips to help us out with the cost. For example if we brought our own extention cord and supplied our own salt it was a little less expensive. It really shows the integrity of the people at Elgin. We had our new system installed within the next couple days and we now have spotless dishes and softer skin after showers. Bye bye hard water!

There was a problem with the water softener. They were willing to acknowledge that and come back to repair it for no additional charge.

I was very pleased that my system was installed so quickly. One of the employees of Elgin had suffered an injury and Doug was very concerned that my system would not get installed quick enough for me. I made my decision on a Wednesday morning and it was installed on that Friday afternoon. I was not expecting this quick of a response and especially with one of their staff members hurt. The installers were very competent and trustworthy. With that comfort level I left my home in their care and returned to work.

Since I subscribed in 2004, I have never had a problem. When my condo neighborhood had a water main break, the softener was damaged by the water surge when water service was restored. The result was a nasty flow of sludge into all my water pipes from the water softener. I made an emergency call for help on that Saturday and the serviceman was at my door within 10 minutes. Elgin removed all the spickets, cleared all the water lines, and had my unit replaced by the following Monday. I was SO happy I had a rental and had someone to call and SO happy that Elgin was so responsive and made my problem go away as fast as possible.

The representative at the store did a good job of explaining what their products were and getting me fit into the right produce to fit my needs, didn't feel like a high pressure sales job as I did with other "brand name" companies. Installer did a great job. I would definitely use them again.
