Edwin Holmes Roofing

We used this company 10 years ago for a standard shingled roof on our primary residence, detached garage and outbuilding and were very pleased with the work. We recently had a need for a custom 18' x 14' x 11' wood based, metal roof cover structure for our permanently parked travel trailer. We received a couple of quotes and landed with Edwin Holmes Roofing. The project was complete in less than 2 weeks and we're, once again, very pleased with their work.

He started the repair job paid him $22,000 and I cannot reach him and he will not return the multiple messages that I have left for him. Please don't considered this contractor. He will not finish work or return calls

All work was done in a professional manner and completed on a timely basis.

I had used Edwin Holmes in the past based on past ratings and Service Awards. Following the high winds This past week I came home on a Friday evening to find a section of shingles missing or lose. I left a message on Saturday and then called cell number on business card Edwin had left before. He answered the phone on a Sunday and came straight to my home on a Sunday afternoon after returning from a trip out of town. He completed the repairs in less than an hour at a very reasonable price. I was pleased to see that Edwin Holmes was awarded 2015 Service Award, adding to awards for each year since 2012. Would definitely use again!

Mr. Holmes team did a great job replacing our roof. We were out of town when the roof was replaced, returned to a brand new roof new gutters and no mess left behind! Very competitive pricing and a pretty nice dude to boot. I will use again the next time my roof needs to be replaced.

Ed responded quickly to my request for an estimate for gutters. He emailed an estimate right after seeing the house and called me a day after he sent it to make sure I realized that my chimneys were in poor condition and were allowing water penetration into the attic (which was true). After discussion about chimney repairs and the condition of the current roof (just bought the house, and the inspector had rated it in just fair condition), we decided to replace the roof. As soon as we had worked out the contract, Ed brought materials to the house, and the crew started the job the next day. The crew were punctual, polite, and professional, and they worked diligently for two long days (11 hours on day 1 and another 9 hours on day 2). Ed did the chimney work himself and explained a lot about the repairs and roofing as he went. He is dedicated to using high quality materials and doing things the right way. He used the proper ridge cap shingles on the ridges, instead of regular 3-tab roof shingles, which many roofers use to cut corners, and installed extensive ice and water shield around chimneys, valleys, and the porch roof. The crew cleaned up the yard each day and collected all nails, and Ed checked everything and did additional clean-up himself before leaving. He gave notice of expected arrival times, and he kept in touch about all aspects of the work. His color suggestions for shingles and gutters were great, and the house looks fantastic.

Holmes is the contractor- the roofers who did the actual work were wonderful. Roofers were very professional and did excellent work. The gutters were ok, but 2 of them had screws come loose- will fix them ourselves. Would only re-hire the roofers! Get EVERY DETAIL in writing!

Excellent - Mr. Holmes has been very prompt at giving us an estimate and getting the job done. He has been hands on with the work, working along side his employees on the roof. We are very pleased at how prompt he answered our request for the estimate and getting our work started. He provides quality service.

I was very impressed by Edwin. He took time out to make sure I got the product that I liked best. The crew did an excellent job. They were here on time and were was nice and polite. When they said they were going be here, they were here. When they left everything was cleaned up. They did a beautiful job. My home looks 99% better. I would highly recommend their service.

The job was done in a very professional manor and looks great. We had some very minor issues with some of the aluminum wrap around one window and Mr. Holmes responded promptly to repair the problem. Overall we were very satisfied with the job completed by Mr. Holmes and would definitely recommend his services.

I contacted Ed to repair shingles blown off my fourteen year old roof. I asked him to inspect the roof for other damage and overall condition. The roof was quite worn, but not damaged to the level for an insurance claim. While repairing the roof, he took the initiative to paint the rusted furnace vent pipe. I asked him to give me an estimate to replace the roof and gutters. I agreed to the terms for the project. He delivered the materials later that day and the crew installed the roof the next day and the gutters were installed the following week. I went with Ed?s color recommendations and am very pleased with the results. It is a major improvement to our property. Ed and both of his crews were punctual, professional, courteous and meticulous in their cleanup. A roof may be the largest investment you ever make in your home and Ed Holmes will give you a result that you will be proud of. I would recommend him without hesitation. I intend to utilize his services for additional home improvement projects.

Do not use this company. They put the new flashing on. From day one, it leaked around my fireplace chimney. I had them out numerous times. He looked at it and he always said it was the chimney. He put a dab of calk here and there and he was on his way. The next time we had a good rain, it leaked again. I had him out six times. I just gave up on him. He might have been clueless to what the problem was or else he did not want to fix the problem. The brick was never the problem as Edwin Holmes said it was due to his shoddy flashing around the chimney and yes it was his responsibility to correct which he didn't do. I had to hire and pay someone else to take up the shingles around the chimney replace the water damaged decking again and do the flashing correctly. He should have reimbursed me for the work he couldn't/ wouldn't do.

He did a great job working with my insurance agent to determine actual damage. Workers were on time and did a great job cleaning up the work area. Mr. Holmes was always available for questions throughout the process.

He was in time, stayed in contact with the whole process. Answered all questions and addressed all my concerns. Replaced my whole roof, replaced a 2x8 board I had concerns with cleaned up area. In and out in no time.

My phone call for an estimate was returned promptly and an appointment scheduled in a timely manner that fit within my busy schedule. Mr. Holmes arrived for the inspection as scheduled and provided a written estimate per my request. The work was performed in a professional manner, I was apprised of changes in the scheduling due to weather conditions, my questions were answered, and phone calls were returned. The work area was organized and cleaned to my complete satisfaction. Thank you for making the situation as painless as possible.

Ed has replaced 3 roofs for me over the past 16 years. He has always done a great job and been punctual and professional. His finished product is always great, and if I have any concerns, he has always been quick to respond.

My wife and I have been very pleased with Holmes Roofing. We heard they were an Angie's List award winner. They talked to the insurance company, and did all the work. I didn't have to worry about anything. We picked the colors and Holmes did the rest. The work was fast, clean, and professional. We have already recommended them to friends.

Edwin Holmes provided a quote within a few days of initial contact and scheduled our service within one week. After 4 straight days of rain, his team was primed and ready the first dry day. The roof and guttering were professionally installed. Both were completed within the same day of starting, before returning home from work. The product provided a wonderful facelift to our house, kudos to the color recommendation by Edwin.

My house, barn and garage were damaged by a bad hail storm in May 2014. I remembered seeing many Holmes Roofing signs in yards all over the south side before the storm hit. I went and talked to a couple of the people that had there roofs and gutters replaced by Ed Holmes and they were extremely happy with the workmanship, quality of the work and Ed himself. I walked around their houses with them to inspect his work and it looked great. I contacted Holmes Roofing and they came out the next day and provided me with a very detailed estimate which I forwarded to my insurance company. Ed even met my adjuster on site and walked out the entire scope of the damage. They did such a great job on my garage that I can't wait to see my house when it is finished. Thanks Ed.

Redid my WHOLE house. Amazing job, Roof was done in a day. Everything was cleaned up and have still yet to find any nails or leftovers from the roof. Siding and windows look awesome. It looks like a new house!

Mr. Holmes is very responsive and easy to work with. I called his office after a bad hail storm in our area several months prior once I saw everyone in the neighborhood were getting new roofs. Note: I turned away all the "storm chaser / door knocker" roofers who came after the hail storm. Mr. Holmes had done a small roof repair for us in the past and I knew he was the roofer for us. Once I called Mr. Holmes, he was out to our house within a day to inspect the roof. All I had to do was file the original claim with the insurance company. Mr. Holmes took it from there for us. He met with the inspector and I didn't even have to be here. He is taking care of everything. I watched him replace the roof of our neighbors house and was very impressed at the speed and cleanliness of their work. Every evening he was out checking for any debris left in the yard. I never saw any mess or debris. Our neighbor's roof looks perfect. I will write another or update my review once our roof is completed. Awaiting the insurance check. I'm sure it will looks as good as our neighbor's!

They said had a death in the family and they didn't contact me for three months. They claimed Angie's List never contacted them with my purchase information.
