Description of Work: They built a high-end custom desktop home computer for me. The project went well. I had a 9 year old dual core machine that they had upgraded twice for me over the years. That is how I got 9 years out of the old machine. I needed a new machine with much higher performance to run our most demanding applications better, such as X Plane 10 and Microsoft FSX aircraft simulators with higher graphics settings and a good frame rate above 30 frames per second. I wrote a specification for Eagle for the new desktop computer I wanted and gave them the written spec. They made a small number of suggestions which I liked, but basically, they built what I speced. It is a quad core processor, 3.6 GHZ turboed to 4 GHZ, 16 GB RAM, with both SSD and a conventional hard drive for speed. It includes a high end NVIDIA graphics card (GTX 970) with 4 GB RAM on board. It has a number of other custom features I requested. They loaded a few key applications for me beyond what I requested, but that I knew I needed. That made getting the new machine up and running at home easier. The price was right in my budget and what I was expecting. The price was competitive with any comparable pre-built machines I could find, although I never considered pre-built versus custom, so I could get all the features I believe I need and get expert service for any arising issues. I found a couple of issues when I first got the machine. They had me bring it back and had everything working in less than 24 hours turnaround. That is a good example why I prefer custom build from someplace like Eagle instead of off the shelf. I was expecting some issues transitioning some of my applications from a Windows XP machine, 32 bit, to a 64 bit Windows 7 machine. I think it went a bit smoother than I expected because they answered all my questions and fixed the few issues I found in one service. I have FSX and X Plane 10 running with very high graphics settings and high frame rate, and they look fantastic. I have not yet found the limits on the graphics settings for these two applications on the machine.

 + -1 moreI originally had my computer custom built by Eagle Micro in Sep 2010. I do a lot of photography and was looking for a computer that could handle fairly demanding photo processing work. Mike Taylor, who is also a photographer, and his staff knew exactly what I was looking for. The computer performed perfectly in the time since then until around Jun 2012. The computer had picked up a virus and started acting up so, I took it back to the store for repairs. They fixed the virus for $105. I have typically replaced my computers every couple of years because they get slow and balky. Also, the many photographs can load them up pretty quickly. Not so with this one. Since it had been running well up until the virus, I decided to take it in and have it repaired and upgraded with the intention of keeping it a couple more years. So, in addition to the virus repair, I had them install a new graphics card and I got a different anti-virus program. I have been happy with it ever since and see no reason why it won't go a couple more years with only minor repairs and upgrades.

 + -1 moreI contacted Eagle Micro about laptops and Dan suggested a couple. I chose the laptop that had a good reputation and the best warranty. Dan compiled all of the stats for about 3 different laptops and presented them to me. It made my decision much easier.
Description of Work: Eagle Micro sold me a laptop. They offered a better price than the competition and offered a better warranty without paying anything extra. The general manager, Dan, was very knowledgeable and helpful. I will definitely use their services again.

 + -1 moreAwful from start to finish. I dropped my dead Dell computer off for them to confirm that the motherboard was fried. The guy behind the computer immediately started giving me an attitude about my having bought a dell, how dells break down all the time, how we see you people with broken dells all the time. I should have just left, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. They said they'd order the part and get back with me. As the weeks went by I called and was told the repair would be done the following week. I got this answer two weeks in a row. By week four, they didn't have an ETA and suggested I call back during the following week to speak with someone who might know what's going on. I did and was told the part I needed was on indefinate backorder. So I mulled it over a few days: waiting for an unending backorder or just have them tear the guts outta the machine and make me a new one. I decided on the latter. I called Thursday. No one answered. I left a message. No one called me back. I called Tuesday. No one answered. I left a message. No one called me back. I called Thursday. No one answered. I left a message. No one called me back. Finally, I just picked up my broken computer and, after six weeks of hassles, will take my business elsewhere. Let me put this in perspective: If you, yourself, the person reading this right now, ever thought of running your own business, and you thought about all the experiences you had in a retail setting, and you thought about all the things you would do and all the things you wouldn't do running you're own business.... basically this place does all the things you *wouldn't* do. I just can't imagine how they stay in business. Good luck.

 + -1 moreAs part of a business that was closing, I was given the task of selling off some assets. That list included 2 laptop computers which I had never used and knew little about. Having used Eagle Micro in the past for both sales and service, I contacted them by phone and explained the situation. I was told that if I looked up the specifications and brought that list in along with the computers, someone would give the computers a once-over and tell me what I might be able to sell them for. I did was I was asked, and traveled during my work day from Carmel to Castleton to bring them the computers. When I arrived, I waited for one other customer to finish and with no one else in line explained the situation again to someone at the counter. I was told "It would be a waste of his time to look at my computers." He said it was of no value to him so why do it. I told the man what I had been told on the phone, showed him that I had found all of the specs and explained I had driven across town. He said I hadn't talked to him on the phone and he wouldn't have told me to bring them in. He then emphasized again that what I was requesting would be a waste of his time. I have been shopping at Eagle Micro for about 4 years. With they're expertise they could have looked at the specs and the machines and probably given me an accurate estimate in less than 60 seconds. Instead, after driving across town, I was told I was wasting their time. I believe they wasted mine.

Finally, they gave me a list of things that needed to be done and the price was quoted at $214. I didn't use them, but they kept the $35 I gave them up front. I was able to get the job done by another company for several times less.

 + -1 moreThis is the the third time I have had them build me a computer in the last 10 years. Their computers last a long time before any replacement or maintenance needs done. They have an unsurpassed warranty and always respond to questions and help in a timely manner. This build was particularly challenging and had some issues but all were addressed by Nathan and staff to more than my expectation. They are not the cheapest but product far surpasses anything big chains can offer. As far as Indy goes there is no other quality local place.

 + -1 moreTook the computer to a repair shop and they said we needed a new mother board for $500+. Then took the computer to Eagle. They found a chip on the mother board that had dropped off. The soldered it back on and the problem was corrected. The computer works fine now.
