It was a poor experience, and I was unhappy with their service. They told me that they would charge me $50.00 dollars for the work which would be added to my monthly bill. However, I found hidden fees and charges when I received my next statement. Ultimately, they provided me with a refund after I complained to the attorney general's office and to the Better Business Bureau.

I am happy with them. I have been with them for probably 5 or 6 years. I pay $137 a month. I had the service guy come out and he was great and he was punctual. I think he is a contractor for them.

I am writing about the way Dish Network operates. My mother in law lives alone in an over 55 community. Many of the people in her neighborhood are closer to 80. My mother in law is 86. I arrived at her home in July 2011 to find a dish on top of her house. We have known for some time that she is suffering from dementia and we were working on moving her to a nursing home. When we asked her about the dish she said a "nice young man came around and told her the neighborhood was switching to Dish Network". Now I realize she has dementia and may not remember exactly how things transpired but at the time she had Comcast as her cable provider. She never left her house, we had taken away her car, and there is no way she would have contacted Dish Network on her own. She never even used her phone except to take incoming calls. We are not sure exactly when the dish was put on the roof or when someone came in and hooked up the transmitter. All of this was done when my mother in law was home alone. She was so confused she didn't know she had to cancel Comcast and continued to pay for both networks until we discovered what was happening. (We are not sure of the service date as we can not find the paper work for Dish Network.) We moved her into a memory unit at a nursing home in December 2011. When I contacted Dish Network to discontinue the service, explaining that she no longer lived in her home, I was given the run around. I had to jump through several loops to get it disconnected, but what adds insult to injury is I now have to take the dish off the roof myself, or pay someone to take it down, and pay to return the equipment. I am really upset with how Dish Network took advantage of an older woman living alone with door to door marketing and left the family holding the bag. I intend to inform anyone who will listen about these shabby practices.
Description of Work: A dish was placed on the roof of my mother in laws home for Dish Network Cable service. At the time she had Comcast. There is no way she would have pursued a new network service. Someone came to her door and convinced her to switch services. Someone came in and hooked up the network to her TV with two remotes and a receiver.
