The salesman was straight-forward and direct. To be honest, I wasn't even planning on buying that but he was able to explain exactly how this new technology works and I felt good about him and I felt the price was fair - maybe a slightly higher than others I looked at but Iiked Defender's protection package better. They were able to get the equipment installed and running right away. They also showed us a of couple of tricks (which I have now forgotten). We haven't had any problems with the equipment so far and it's been almost a year, No false alarms which was my biggest concern.. Overall, I'd say it went pretty well. I don't have any major complaints. The upfront price was reasonable and I think the service is in line with the other major companies.
Description of Work: Defender Direct installed my home alarm system. They set up sensors inside the house and explained how to use the alarm when we are home, at work and how to set it when we go on vacation.

ADT good. Nathan Hall bad. Do NOT have Nathan Hall come out to install your ADT alarm unless you would like to pay for someone else to come in and fix everything that he broke. He wrecked the sliding glass door in my house by blindly drilling holes in the side without having any knowledge of the mechanisms behind the doors. I came home from work on 7/28/09 and noticed it was extra hard to move the door in the rail, it no longer latched and lastly, the door was crooked such that the top was flush when closed but the bottom had about 1cm opening. I called him the next day to ask if he had done anything with the door because it wasn't working nearly as well as when I left in the morning. He did not volunteer any information that he had a lot of trouble with that door at all and just merely stated he would "take a look". Once he came over and installed the rest of the alarm, I stood over hime while we took the door down to find that he had drilled through the wheel mechanism along with the wheels completely destroying this piece. Instead of taking ownership for this grave mistake, apologizing and then making it right, he did all the wrong things. 1st he began by saying that I could just go to the store and fix this myself. When he saw the unhappy look on my face, he then stated that maybe one of the other contractors working on my house should fix the door. It got to be more and more unbelievable. Next he stated that he might be able to fix the door but he had a really full day the next day and it might take awhile to return. I said nothing and then he asked me for several screws, nuts, and washers and tried to jimmy rig the door instead of truly fixing it correctly. I watched him as he pouned and scratched the h*** out of the door and the jam. In the end, I had to put a stop to this and tell him that I would just fix it myself. Still no apology. Once he finally got the alarm system hooked up, you would think that he had broken enough and taken enough of my time after work but then he tried to sell me more add ons for the alarm system!! Unbelievalbe! I was shocked that my sliding glass door was rendered useless, could not lock [thereby defeating the purpose of the alarm system] and he was trying to push more wares on me. Finally, on the way out, he offered to give me an extra key fob for breaking my $500 patio door. I told him I would go to the hardware store the following day to find the broken piece to replace. I spent the entirety of the following day going to Home Depot, Lowes, Spokane Hardware and finally Torminos to find the piece. It was about $22 and then I had to install the item. It was no easy task because this was a 2nd hand piece and I had to have my wife help. Finally, after about 45min of fighting with the piece, the door and 90degree heat, I got the door to slide and lock. I called Nathan to tell him that I had spent my entire day off driving all over town and all I got was "It wasn't at Home Depot huh?". Still no apology.
Description of Work: Called ADT to get alarm installed in my home. They subcontracted the installation with Defender Direct and the installer Nathan Hall came to my home on 7/22/09, 7/28/09, and 7/29/09 to install a security system. He returned the 2nd and 3rd time because he did not have the parts necessary for the complete install on the 1st visit.
