Deck Works came to my home and took my ideas and fine tuned them into a beautiful deck. Andy listened to what we wanted and sent us a drawing within a few days that captured exactly what we wanted! The project started on time and moved quickly until we hit a snag with our HOA that stopped work. Andy was proactive in resolving this problem that was my fault and got the guys back quickly to finish the job. Oh, the crew was fantastic as well. We would not hesitate to use Deck Works in the future.

I spoke with several Angie's list companies and Deck Works owner Andy stood out as a really honest good guy. This was reinforced when a gentleman's handshake was good enough to secure his services. Andy and his crew showed up on the day and time agreed and gave me a time line for the work to be completed in. The crew were super friendly and very polite. They were fantastic with my dog and the children loved them. The project was completed on time with the clean up afterwards being outstanding. Apart from the great remodel you wouldn't know I had contractors in the yard. The final price had no hidden surprises in just as promised. What we shook hands on was what I paid; something which I'm my experience is a rarity these days. Neighbors are already asking for Deck Works details. Overall DECK WORKS and Owner Andy are an exceptional company who deliver what they promise to a very high standard. His crew do amazing work. I can't wait to get Deck Works back for my next project. Andy West and his crew are extremely professional, courteous and very easy to work with. We gave Andy our design ideas and he "tweaked" it and gave us a drawing for approval prior to construction. The quality of workmenship is excellent and my wife and I are very happy with the results. We requested some changes and several additions that were not called out in the contract but Andy and crew were extremely accomodating with all the changes. We highly recommend Deck Works for those seeking a quality, well built outdoor deck structure.

Andy was very pleasant, showed on time for the appointment, and offered great ideas on what we could do with the deck. We're just waiting for him to folow up with an estimate at this point.

I did not hire Andy only because I was not expecting the price to be as high as I thought. Not his fault, I just had no idea.

Never called - never emailed - nothing. If they were booked or not interested in a low-budget project, a simple thanks but no thanks would have worked!

Andy West was prompt, friendly, and business-like in listening to our requirements and then providing a neat, professional proposal. His was the best price of three vendors we contacted. His crew was friendly and diligent and cleaned up thoroughly each day. Andy dealt with the city inspectors patiently and made required corrections without complaint or delay. Our deck looks neat, stylish, and solid.

Excellent! We were pleased with the workmanship and quality of work Deck Works did on a prior Pergola job on our old home. They were our first choice! We provided our ideas to Andy and his crew did an excellent job completing the privacy panels/planters and we will follow up in the spring with the Pergola. Nice work and we'd highly recommend them to you and all our friends!

He made the proposal and was very friendly on follow up and offered any help that I needed, I said we were going to go ahead and tackle the project ourselves.

We had four bids to replace a worn wood deck. We thought Deck Works' bid reflected the best balance of quality, responsiveness to our needs and price. After some back and forth, we decided on a wood frame, metal rail spindles and a composite floor. They also constructed a bench with storage at one end of the deck, and an access panel for under-deck storage. The three-man crew did the demolition on July 2 and completed most of the construction on July 3 and 4. (Yes, they worked on Independence Day!) The next week, the crew completed the work. The Deck Works crew was talented and a delight to work with. They checked with us frequently to make sure we understood steps that they were about to take. They also addressed our concerns readily, e.g., a concern about visible nail heads in the composite was resolved by pounding them down further. Scrap was hauled away throughout the process. They reseeded the areas of the lawn that had been worn down. We contacted the owner, Andy West, a couple of weeks later because a rail board had warped badly, and though on vacation he immediately sent the crew leader to take a look. That board was replaced along with another we hadn't even noticed!

Andy was quick to respond to my initial inquiry and provided a free estimate within the same week. He gave us an estimated start date and was able to start the project a day earlier than expected. The craftsmen arrived early, installed the deck exactly as requested, and finished the project within a couple of days. We hired them to come back and replace some rotted exterior wood paneling. We paid the amount as quoted. Our neighbors even hired them to do some work after seeing our finished project. We will definitely use Deck Works again for any interior and exterior carpentry work.

Never heard from him. It's been a week now.

Let me start by confessing that I can be a builder's worse nightmare. I price shop, I am a Former Marine, and my last job was as production manager, then estimator for a leading construction company in central Ohio...and now am a stay at home dad, who likes to observe everything while it is going on, and not scared to speak up while doing so. With that being said...THESE GUYS WERE AWESOME!!! After my wife convinced me that we 'just had to join Angie's List' for this project, I grabbed the top five, drew up my site plan and requirement list, and called for bids. 2 didn't call back, and out of the 3 that did, Deck Works blew the price of the others out of the water--by $1,000+ The politeness on first appointment, follow up contact, willingness to work with our requirements and vision were what every customer should expect from a professional company. They picked up nightly, kept us informed of the schedule, and were constantly checking in on specifics of the project to make sure we were satisfied. And when it comes to the final project, I wish we could post pictures, because for this 'slightly anal Former Marine' it was PERFECT. You can't begin to believe how much lumber they sent back because it was 'not good enough for our deck'! From shooting all the nails in the decking with a straight edge, to hand plumbing(vertically leveling) EVERY spindle, to hand sanding all edges, THESE GUYS WERE AMAZING!! Please, give Mr. West (owner of Deck Works) a call and chance to bid your project. You will not be disappointed with the price or project!!!

My deck was not a normal installation but an addition to a 2 year old lanai type deck that was under roof. First of all I want to be clear in that I am completely satisfied with the finished structure. There were minor problems in getting there but I am happy with the deck itself. Because it was not a typical installation, it originally did not pass the building inspection due to the method in which the new deck was tied to the existing structure. Because I was the one that had to get the building permit, I had to talk to the Fisher building dept and Andy to try and get it worked out between the two of them. This took some time but after a couple of attempts, Andy contacted the building dept directly, met the inspector out at my home and they came to an agreement on how the two structures should be tied together. He then did as the inspector wanted and it passed with no further problems. The other issue was that because this all took so much time, dirt from the footer holes was left in my yard and the grass was killed. Andy sent his crew out to fill the holes back in but they did a very unprofessional job, left a fair amount of dirt in the yard and just mounded up the dirt around the posts and threw the sod on top of the mounds. I finished it up to my satisfaction and when I emailed Andy the pictures of what his crew had done, he sent them back out and they did an excellent job of getting the remainder of the dirt off of the grass and the reseeded the area where the grass had died. In summary, price was good, quality was good, took more involvement from me that what I thought it should but I am happy with the finished result.

I gave up thinking of using this contractor.

They were able to do the job earlier than expected, which was great. They were professional, efficient, and cleaned up the area. We were very pleased.

From the initial meeting to the final clean up, Deck Works was professional and built fine quality product. We had our first meeting with Andy and went over what our ideas were for the design of the deck. He made a suggestion or two that we worked into our original plan. So glad we did. The employees of Deck Works are all very pleasant, professional, hard working individuals. They cleaned up the project site each night. I was so impressed with the finished deck! Now I wish I had done this sooner! I would not hesitate hiring Deck Works for any of your outdoor building plans.

Update to my original post. There were a few repairs I asked Andy and his team to address. I must say Andy and his team went above and beyond my expectation in addressing my concerns. Not only did they address my concerns they found a few other items that they thought needed some some touch up and took care of those proactively. It has been a pleasure working with them and it is nice to know that there are still companys that take pride in thier work and not always looking for the easy way out. I highly recommend Deck Works, they are a company of integrity.

Andy worked the project in to his schedule very quickly and was working within a few days of finalizing the contract. Materials were dropped without any issues, demo was one day and the 3-4 person crew were professional throughout. His team lead in particular was excellent. I changed the scope on them at least once and Andy adapted quickly without issue which is always appreciated. His crew also came through with a couple of nice ideas/details as they built the structure and just made them happen as part of the process. For example we ended up with some nice unexpected storage with a hinged lockable door. The whole thing took about 4 days, which was on time and overall we are very pleased. We feel like the end product turned out better than we had originally envisioned.

I was very pleased. They were fair in their estimate, prompt in their work, did exactly what said would, and cleaned up afterwards.

Deck Works came in at a very good price. They completed the work fast and created a very clean design. After the deck was completed a board shrank, beyond expectation. Deck Works came out replace it and also changed out 3 other boards they were not happy with, boards that I didn't even notice anything wrong with. I would definitely feel comfortable using them again.

Impressed my wife with design. Very professional, skilled, and hard working crew. We receive may compliments on our new deck.

I hired Deck Works based on their reputation on Angie's List and they did not disappoint.

The building and design of the deck was well done. The Job was done within the time frame. DECK WORKS INC prices was fair. The guy constructed our deck was very nice.

They did a good job. I like the way they made two sperate sets of steps on the corner. I like the way it looks. It is a little different.
