Description of Work: My wife and I began looking for deck builders in mid April and called several companies on Angie's List the same day. Andy, the owner, called back that same day. I informed him we had a drawing of what we wanted and were going through several companies to get an idea on price and quality. We emailed him our drawing with dimensions (25 x 28 with 4 planter boxes, benched seating around 3 sides, 2 - 6ft sections of railing and stairs on 2 sides) and he had an estimate to us within 2 days. After interviewing and looking at portfolios of the companies we chose, prices ranged between $6500 and 12,500. After about 2 weeks of estimates I called Andy back and asked that we meet because he was one of the most competitive in pricing and to meet to look at his portfolio. His portfolio far exceeded any of the others I saw in regard to range and quality. I also got a very good feel from Andy. Although price is important, the feel I get from a person and their qualifications do matter. He was very personable and engaging without being pushy. He offered other suggestions on ways to tweak our original design and left everything up to us. With his Angie's List discount, he came in under our best bid and we signed a contract. I would have gone with him anyway, just because of the good feeling I got from our conversations. He let us know that he could start within the month based on his current schedule. We wanted to have something done prior to Mother's Day and he informed us that he would try, but he had us on his schedule for the 14th. He called on 5-7-12 and said he could start ahead of schedule and his crew would be out to start marking and digging holes on Wednesday 5-9-12. The entire project should take about 5-6 days from start to finish. Lumber was delivered that night and they (Jose, Tino, and Walter) began construction on Thursday. Due to the size of the deck and to give the guys the day off to spend time off with their own mothers, the deck was completed on Tuesday 5-15-12, right on schedule. I also had them install 2 electrical outlets next to 2 trees they built around to add extra lighting. We couldn't be happier with our deck and highly recommend Andy and Deckworks. Andy also has other remodeling and building businesses and we should be using them to install canned lighting, backsplashes, and HVAC venting.

Description of Work: Called to obtain a quote for deck replacement. Returned call with in 24 hours. Set up an appt. that was best for me. On time, very professional. The job was simple, quote delivered on time as promised. We ended up going with a family friend who is an independent but would call Deck Works again.

However, please know that Andy responded to my call immediately and came out to give an estimate promptly. He was very professional and followed through as he said he would. I would keep him at the top of the list.

Description of Work: DECK WORKS...LAKESIDE INSTALLATION OF A 10 X 20' ON 10/28/05. PROFESSIONAL AND COMPLETED WORK IN A TIMELY MANOR...CLEANED UP WELL...AND WILLING TO COME BACK TO PAINT AS AGREED... WE ARE HAPPY AND WOULD ENGAGE DECK WORKS AGAIN.

Description of Work: ANDY WEST DESIGNED AND BUILT A DECK OVER AN EXISTING PATIO ON THE REAR OF OUR HOME. HE SUBMITTED A DETAILED QUOTE FOR A DECK ON THE BACK OF OUR HOME IN CARMEL, IN. WE WANTED TO HAVE TREX (A DECK THAT IS A PLASTIC MATERIAL REQUIRING LITTLE MAINTENANCE) INSTALLED ON OUR DECK, AND HE WAS A CERTIFIED TREX INSTALLER. IN THE QUOTE PROCESS, HE WAS NOT THE LEAST EXPENSIVE, BUT WE FELT THAT HIS EXPERIENCE INSTALLING THE TREX MATERIALS, AND HIS MANNER IN EXPLAINING HOW THEY LAID OUT THE DECK WAS WHAT IMPRESSED US. WE HAD ABOUT A 3 WEEK WAIT FOR INSTALLATION, WHICH HE HAD EXPLAINED IN THE QUOTE. HE AND HIS CREW ARRIVED ON TIME, AND COMPLETED THE DECK IN THREE DAYS. WE ARE EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THE FINISHED PRODUCT AND WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO OTHERS. THE COMPANY WAS GREAT!
