Well, of course, they do anything to get you in the door, so the obliged my concerns about my mother's ability to live on her own by assessing her for assisted living. The nurse stated that she didn't need assisted living, and she can live in the "suite life" area which is bacsically living indepent of assistance, but there is transportation, meals, and a life alert pendant. I got a call a week or 2 before move-in day stating that she needed phone service to have the pendant...we were around our max already and if they'd mentioned that, that may have changed our decision...Since we had already signed a lease, I set phone service up, and they installed a week after move-in. I dropped the appropriate paperwork by the office, but my mother never recieved the pendant. I alerted the manager, and it didn't seem like the biggest deal in the world to her, although it was to me. That was my peace of mind (and my mom's too) that she was going to be ok over there. I planned to drive from the other side of town daily to ensure her safety until she received the service that we were paying for. Long story short, my mother ended up needing to move out due to terminal lung cancer. She moved directly into hospice, and this company basically told my mother in law (with me on the phone) that if we paid her next month's rent, she would be let go of her lease. I paid her rent. We are still getting collection notices to this day. THEY DO NOT let terminally ill people out of their leases.
