 + -1 moreSix years ago, Matt removed soggy insulation and the plastic sealant in front of it that had been place for the previous 7 years. He replaced the sealant and fixed various vents to bring crawl space up to code and made a more effective crawl space well cover than the one that I had (app $2500). Since I don't have any way of checking the state of my crawl space and I have been having some problems recently with gutter leaks, I asked him to check on it. I was very pleased that everything was as it should be. Since I had not seen him for several years, he considered this visit an initial one for which he does not charge (per website). Highly recommend.
Description of Work: recheck/update work done app. 6 years ago. inspection was free. asked him to check my crawlspace to see that everything was still in place and as it is supposed to be.

 + 0 moreGreat to work with! They arrived in the morning and worked until it was finished. There were a few final touches he came back to do just as he promised. They were very courteous and made sure not to hit our electric wire for the dog fence when they were digging. We were very happy with the price and the work that was performed.
Description of Work: We have a sunken living room and moisture was getting in from outside below ground level. They dug a trench next to the house, waterproofed the exterior of the house and then installed a drain pipe. The drain pipe ran along side the house and to the backyard so that water would do away from our home.

 + -1 moreThe estimate process went well. Matt Deiters was the technician that came out. He was ready to crawl into the crawlspace until he saw broken glass and wisely chose not to. He suggested pouring cement pads and placing jacks under the beam. He was also going to replace the support beam. He also suggested regrading the lawn so that water drained away from the wet corner of the crawl space. His estimate was written on the spot and his price was reasonable. He would remove the debris. We will probably use him if we decide to sell the home and repair is required by a house inspector.
Description of Work: Provided estimates for assement of a crawlspace which appeared to have missing supports. The crawlspace also needed morter repair.

 + -1 moreThey thoroughly inspected our crawlspace and made some repairs to the vapor barrier caused by some pesky chipmunks. When I offered to pay, they indicated that there would not be a charge for this hour of work! We were very pleased with everything...from the initial assessment and estimate provided by Kevin to the completion of the very major upgrade to our crawlspace. They installed a new outside access door, complete with bolt lock, removed all of the old insulation and vapor barrier, installed a new french drain and sump pit and pump, and installed a new 60 mil/R5 vapor barrier. Also, since we did already have an interior access door, they built a two step ladder to enable my wife and I to now use the crawl space as a tornado shelter. It was a terrific experience and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their crawlspace.
Description of Work: I asked Matt/Crawlspace Doctor to come out to do the annual inspection of our crawl space. We bought our home on a lake in 2006 but didn't really move in until 2009. We experienced some water in the crawlspace due to a faulty sump pump and the original vapor barrier and insulation were no longer effective. Contracted with Matt and his firm to provide all of the services necessary to update our crawlspace to properly protect our retirement home.

 + 0 moreSpectacular--I got terrific service. They came and performed the job and gave me a 20 year warranty. Photos before and after. He commented that my crawlspace was incredibly humid and recommended I run the air conditioner for a few weeks, which I did. But the house remained very humid, so I checked to see whether any of the torrential rains had seeped into the enclosed crawlspace. When I opened the door to check, there was some water right inside the door. I didn't have the ability to crawl into the space to check further, so I had them come back. They did and found the space still dry except for the little bit inside the door, which they repaired and caulked. Then the technician asked if I would like him to bring in his humidity meter and check the house, which I welcomed. He discovered that incredibly humid air was coming out of my air conditioning vent. Then he asked to see my furnace and discovered I had left the humidfier on maximum--I had totally forgotten that. So he turned it down, and now the humidity is lowering in my house. He did this without being asked and did not request any payment for this service, which had nothing to do with the job they did on my house. Above and beyond the call of duty!!! I am very grateful to the company and the young man who works for them.

 + -1 moreMatt Deiters and his crew worked efficiently and cleanly. Since the crawl space is in the middle of the house, keeping the dirt off the carpeting was a concern. Mr. Deiters placed a drop cloth to contain the mess that they were making in the crawl space.
Description of Work: A new drainage system was installed under the vapor barrier in the crawspace of my Mother's home. A new sump pump with a 5 year warrenty was also installed.

We bought a house and during the inspection, the inspector found mold in the crawlspace. The home's previous owner had hired Crawlspace Doctor for some improvements to the crawlspace a few months before, so Crawlspace Doctor was contacted about the mold regrowth. Matt Dieters was fantastic! Very responsive and willing to come back to remove the mold. Even though we weren't the ones who paid for the original work, Matt stood by their work and took care of the problem at no cost. We would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing crawlspace work done!

 + 0 moreOne thing that impressed me was their concern for my problem (in addition to everything above!). My space was already water logged and it was suppose to rain again for several days. I was worried about more water causing damage. Even though they were working on another job at the time, Matt and his crew made a special trip in between to get my sump pump installed and start pumping the water out. This was a huge load off my mind since they could not start my job officially until the following week. Giving me the satisfaction of knowing more water wasnt piling up was a thoughtful and professional move. They provided quick attention when I had a concern about the door installed. Kevin came the next morning to address the issue.
Description of Work: Installed new drainage system thru entire crawlspace, new sump pump with alarm, re-routed sump pump drainage, new vapor barrier installed with total area encapsulation, sealed old crawlspace vents, insulated foundation walls, enlarged crawlspace door opening, cleared old debris from space, installed lighting in crawlspace, tacked up all existing cables and wiring to floor joists so they were not hanging down, secured a broken beam. 3 days worth of top notch, professional service. I have a large crawlspace that had flooded and was in worse shape than most disaster areas. I went for the total package for two reasons. First, I wanted to do it right and be done with it the first time. Second, even though it was a good chunk of change, the work Matt and his crew did was FAR more indepth and covered items that other (higher) estimates I received did not. The warranty is unbeatable and transferrable to new owners. What a great perk that is when selling a home these days. One of the best features I liked was Kevin, the estimator, took his time checking everything out and then sat down and showed me digital photos of everything in detail. I could actually see what no one else thought about showing me. He answered all my questions very patiently, spoke in layman terms and went over anything I didnt understand. Matt was onsite during the job to answer questions and the crew was friendly, informative and very punctual. I was very pleased with the crews attention to my yard and their efforts to pile materials, and trash very carefully, contain things and pick up all debris daily. I know I wont need their services at this house any longer, but if I ever move and have crawlspace issues, I only have one phone call to make to Matt and his crew!

While installing the vapor barrier, they discovered two additional problems and they performed this extra work at no cost. All individuals were courteous and professional.

 + 1 moreThey were an outstanding company. I called them and they sent out a young man that performed the estimate. He told us exactly what the problems were and how they would correct it. He gave us a price and we decided to move forward with the work. The owner and 1 other technician came out and did exactly what they said that would do and the price was exactly what the estimate was. Since we are unable to crawl under there, they took pictures to show us the work. They did an outstanding job. I would highly recommend them. They provide a 20 year written warranty, and the warranty stays with the house even if you move! They are the best company I have dealt with in a long time.
Description of Work: They did extensive work in our crawl space. They installed insulation around the walls, new vapor barriers. They installed new visquene. They permanently closed up the foundation vents. They also built a wall to keep some squirrels from getting into the crawl space. They also rerouted the sump pump pipe.  + -1 moreI had suspected there were significant problems in the crawlspace, over the past few yrs I had noticed an area of floor gradually sinking lower. Unfortunately for Kevin his was the first estimate and I was completely overwhelmed with the report of mold, sill/joist rot in two areas, standing water, the cost involved, etc. I went ahead and got four other estimates from other companies. These results ranged from "everything is fine down there, it would pass inspection with no problem" to varying degrees of problems and solutions. After a very long decision process I decided that Crawlspacedoctors seemed to offer the most comprehensive estimate, they were the only company to take digital pictures to show me the problems they were seeing. They were going to address ALL the issues going on down there, not just the ones their company specialized in like the other guys,( i.e. the sump and drainage system only). I felt their pricing was in line with the other companies, but they were going to do more actual overall work on the area for that price. I felt they completed the work in the estimated time and in a very professional manner. Matt was very good about keeping me updated, they kept the area tidy and the final clean-up was great. I really like the before and after pictures that were put on a disc for me, it helped lessen the pain of writing out the checks to get to see the actual improvement. I do wish they had some form of financing available, these are not easy times to get a loan from the banks. I would recommend them without hesitation and will use them in the future as needed!

 + 0 moreWhen Kevin came out to inspect my crawl space, he took several photos and used them to explain what his company would fix. This was helpful since I don't go into the crawl space very often. When they came out to do the work, Matt (the owner) identified three places where the sill plate was damaged and noted that the water softener was discharging liquid into the crawl space. Normally he would have charged extra for fixing these items. He fixed them after consulting with me, but did not charge extra, since missing them was their mistake. I was originally told that the work would take 3 to 4 days. Matt brought extra help and finished the job in 2 days. I was very impressed with Matt's professionalism, attention to detail, and pride in doing a complete and thorough job.
Description of Work: Cleaned debris from crawl space, hung wires & cables, insulated crawl space exterior wall, installed vapor barrier, repaired damage to sill plate, & replaced crawl space door.

The Crawlspace Doctor's people did an excellent job in cleaning up the mess left by the racoon and repairing the damage and replacing all of the damaged items. The crawl has now been secured and we expect no more uninvited guests.

 + -1 moreAbsolutely every single item was done, and done well. The residue and the smell are gone. With the heavy rain during the spring of 2009, the sump pump has worked as required and the humidity in the crawlspace is noticeably lower. I had only been in the crawlspace once since the job was finished, but a TV cable technician noted liquid water under the plastic barrier when he was in the crawlspace. The Crawlspace Doctor returned my call the same day and was out within the week to check the problem - a water pocket between two layers of plastic film. The water was drained, and the cause (whatever it was) was eliminated because the water has not returned. My experience with the Crawlspace Doctor has been completely positive for the estimate, the work, and the rapid follow-up for the slight corrective action required - at no additional charge!
Description of Work: The sewage pipe from the second floor of our home loosened from the connection and dumped sewage in our crawlspace for a couple months before we figured it out. We called the Crawlspace Doctor for an estimate which was about the same as other, quality vendors we contacted. The estimate included: removing the sewage and other debris; sanitizing the crawlspace; removing mold from the wood under the house; digging a trench to the sump pit; installing a new sump pump and piping to the back yard; and finally, installing a plastic barrier over the gravel and concrete block walls.

 + -1 moreI contacted the Crawl Space Doctor and set up an appointment. Crawl Space Doctor inspected the crawlspace and took digital photos before the work was started. They quickly provided an accurate overview of the work that would be required and quoted a price. They advised the work would begin within a week and that there would be two employees on site daily. The project would take approximately five days. The work began one week later and was completed as quoted. Photos were taken of the crawlspace after the work was completed allowing a before/after comparison. It was amazing to see the difference! The workers always left the site each day by making sure everything was clean and in order. They worked very hard and did not waste time with idle chatting or smoke breaks. Crawl Space Doctor made a number of additional suggestions to me which helped in the overall improvement of the crawlspace area.
Description of Work: Cleaned out all debris, removed old vapor barrier, hung all wires and cables, placed a drainage pipe around the perimeter of the crawlspace running to the sump pit and installed a new sump pump with check valve and sump pump alarm, ran the discharge line to the yard, placed R-19 insulation in the box headers, placed 2-inch R-10 Styrofoam insulation on the walls, blocked off the foundation vents, installed a register vent, removed and replaced approximately 10 lineal feet of band board and double sistered five 2 x 12 joist, installed a vapor barrier on the walls and the floor of the crawlspace.
