The crew with the team leader Joe, performed effectively and meticulously to insure a complete and excellent finished product. We had a dehumidifier running constantly that we removed and scrapped. I was a manager of an Electric Utility before I retired. We were constantly working with our customers to resolve home energy complaints on high bills. I have never seen this type on installation before, I wish I had known about them for it would have provided much help for all Utility Customers. The cost appears high, but it will provide a 100 % payback within 5 years in energy savings. Plus the additional clean spotless storage space free from any mositure. Great People; Great Company; Great Job... Well worth the cost.
Description of Work: The provider removed the old insulation and installed new then applied a 16 mil covering to seal/encapsulate the crawl space under the house. They also sealed up 5 vents to make the crawlspace moisture free and sealed from everything. The other thing it did was give us a clean expansive place for long term storage sealed from ALL the elements. They securely attached the insulation with a nail gun and anchored it solidly to the concrete walls and blocks.

Great people to do business with. Owner Matt Deiters came out and inspected my crawlspace. He gave me a no nonsense proposal to fix my water problems in my crawlspace. Joe and Casey came out on the date and time agreed upon. They explained to me what they would be doing. They both were good workers and anytime I had a question they answered my questions fully and politely. On day two along with Joe and Casey, Matt and fellow employee Shannon came out, ,grabbed shovels and started digging. I thought it was neat the way they all worked together. The Crawlspace Doctor team did everything they agreed to and more. There were a few little things they did above and beyond. They did a good job of cleaning up after the job daily.
Description of Work: Cleaned under house, dug and installed drainage pipes and sump pit with pump. Dug from house to middle of yard and put in drain pipe. Then they encapsulated the crawlspace. They also insulated my box headers.

These guys were outstanding, extremely knowledgeable, punctual, and polite. This was a big, two day job and they kept me completely informed throughout the process. They had a huge mess to clean out and at the end of the first day they had completely removed everything from the area and loaded it on their truck. They did a fantastic job and kept all areas completely clean at all times. They laid tarps over my rug from the entrance to the crawlspace. At the end of the second day my house was exactly as they had found it and they even insisted on vacuuming the rug! I wouldn't hesitate recommending them.
Description of Work: When inspection was done prior to selling the house, he found a large area in our crawlspace which raccoons had inhabited and made a huge mess. It is a very large crawlspace and they came in and completely cleaned out the entire area, sanitized, spread a thick treated plastic covering on the entire floor and wall area and re-insulated the entire crawl space.

Matt was wonderful on this job. He and his crew were efficient and skilled. Because this is a rental property, Matt had to deal with our renter, which wasn't always the perfect situation. Our renter did create some communication problems and tried to stir up trouble, but Matt was patient and understanding throughout the job. Also, Matt was professional and respected my wishes to only speak with me or my husband as the property owners about the job (cost, details, schedule, etc). The renter was very curious and asked a lot of questions, I'm sure. For this, we really appreciate how Matt handled everything. He was very responsive to our emails and calls with questions or concerns. I would highly recommend Matt with Crawlspace Doctor. We did receive two other estimates for this job prior to hiring Crawlspace Doctor. Matt was the most professional of the three, and the most reasonable price to boot. Great guy and great company!

I contacted Matt on July 2nd to find out how much it would cost to repair the floor joist in the crawlspace. He called me and gave me an estimate, but stopped by the next day to take a look at it. Due to the extent of the damage he needed help with the repair as the joists are 2' x 10" boards. We are trying to refinance and closing date was rapidly approaching, so Matt did the repair on July 8th. I had to provide the loan company with an inspection report. The inspector came out on July 10th and was very pleased with the work Matt did. I highly recommend The Crawlspace Doctor and if the need arises I will most definitely use him again.

Shannon, a job site supervisor, was early for the appointment. After going into the crawlspace and inspecting the sump pump, he said that it was working and that I did not need to do anything at this time. I asked him for an invoice for being called out and he said there was no charge for the service call. I was absolutely amazed as I have never had any company come to look at something and not charge! I want to thank Matt for his very prompt response and for Shannon's honesty and professionalism. I would definitely use them again and also be very happy to refer them to my friends.
Description of Work: I had not heard the sump pump in the crawl space working for a couple of days although we had had heavy rain. I called Crawlspace Doctor early this morning. Matt was in a store at the time but said he would call back. He returned my call promptly. When I spoke to him again, he said he would send someone out to inspect the sump pump in the afternoon.

Let me start out by saying that I am extremely selective when it comes to who I choose to work on my home and this experience was no different. I did a lot of research on several companies before I decided to give the crawl space doctor a call. Matt Dieters, the owner, answered my call and took the information. He told me he would send out someone to give me an estimate and the following week as promised a gentleman named Shannon came by to provide an estimate. Shannon went under my crawl space, took pictures and provided me with a detailed estimate and suggested solutions. I had several other companies out for an estimate but far and away the crawl space doctor's estimate was the most detailed and thorough. I decided to use the crawl space doctor and I am glad I did. Once the work started it took less than a week to complete the work. 2 gentleman, Joe and James, came out to do the work and they were wonderful. I asked a lot of questions and Joe was very patient, answered all my questions and did wonderful work. I can not say enough about the quality of the work and how pleased I am. I would highly recommend them if you need your crawl space worked on. Thanks to Matt, Joe and James for a pleasant experience. I would not hesitate to use them in the future.
Description of Work: I had a french drain installed, a new sump pump with alarm installed, the crawl space encapsulated, and insulation placed in box headers throughout crawl space.

Unfortunately, Matt does not service the area in which I live. My loss! Matt was quick to respond to my request and directed me to the correct person for my area. While I had communication issues with the other contractor (not Matt), Matt was kind enough to offer to help. I thank Matt for all his help, his time, his responsiveness, and his professionalism in helping me with this issue even though he is not my contractor. I would definitely use Matt Dieters' company.

They did everything that they said they would do. One thing they couldn’t get done just right because of the way my crawlspace was set up. He did a lot of work for me, but he included a second sump pump for free because it wasn't in the original estimate but it needed it. I had another gentleman take a look at the work, and he said it was done well.
Description of Work: All my wood underneath my seal and bandboard had rotted, as we built the house before they had treated lumber. He replaced all of that and some of the floor joists that needed to be replaced. He put in plastic everywhere, put in two sump pumps and a vent in my heating ducts to help keep the temperature stable. He sealed off all my outside vents.

Matt was great! He was honest with us that there actually was NOT a crack in our foundation (just our morter joints that were a little roughed up) Someone could have taken advantage of this situation but Matt came out right away and told us no work needed to be done since this was not a structural issue. A lot is to be said about his honesty and integrity, if we have any other issues we will definitely use this company again.

We had sewer problems in this house for most of the 12+ years we lived here. The house was on a septic and when it was connected to the city sewer the work was not done well. In AUG 2012, we had another sewer backup and asked another contractor to come out and fix it. They came out and said both the sewer plumbing under the house AND the sewer pipe from the house to the street need repair/replacement. This was not a big surprise to us - so we "bit the bullet" and hired them to do the work. WHAT THEY DID NOT TELL US was that they did not clean up after themselves! The day the plumber came out and redid the piping under the house he told us when he finished that "they do not remove sewer pipes with sewage" and we would have to find someone else to do that!! That would have been nice to know! Anyway, we called crawlspace doctor and they came out to take a look. After seeing the amount of work that was needed, they charged $1500.00 to clean it up, disinfect it and relay a vapor barrier. They did EXCELLENT work. They were always on time an very professional. They even took before and after pictures with out own digital camera! We will definitely work with these guys again when we have needs for crawl space work!
Description of Work: Sorry this is so late! Removed old sewage pipes from crawl space. Cleaned up and disinfected the crawl space. I think they also laid down a new vapor barrier.

I am very pleased with the way the job looks and functions. I am a particular person and hard to please. I think my crawlspace looks fantastic. It's almost too nice to crawl around in. I will be sure to make all other workers be sure to not get the crawlspace dirty. Shannon called me to ask if I was ok with him doing the work on the weekend. He said since they were so busy that he was going to do the work himself and wanted to start on the next Saturday. I was glad that we did not have to wait a month as earlier advised. I don't think that the work could have went any better. Shannon was done in three days. He left me a CD with pictures of the work as it progressed. He also left me an additional roll of the special tape and some extral 15mil material in case I needed to unseal the sump pump pit to have work done. I would be sure to get the 15mil material on the entire job. The thickness is much better and is very hard to puncture. On the original quote they gave me a $300.00 discount for being an Angie's List customer. This covered the additional expense of the 15mil material on the floor.
Description of Work: Crawlspace Doctor came to my home on 03/22/2013. They contacted me the same day when I left an inquiry about their service on the internet. They showed up at the ageed time. Shannon was the job site supervisor that came. He spent about 2 hours at my house inspecting the crawlspace and going over his estimate. I had done a lot of research and I felt that Shannon answered my questions to my satisfaction. Their price was below my expectations and the work that he quoted appeared to be beyond my expectations. Shannon explained to me that they were experiencing a great deal of work and were about a month away before they could start our work. I am awaiting further contact from Matt about partial payment before they start the work. This was my first contact with a contractor after joining Angie's List last week. I am very pleased so far. Shannon came out to start the work on Saturday April 13, 2012. He worked All day on Saturday, Sunday, and finished on the afternoon of Monday April 15th. Shannon provided me with a great deal of useful information. He made several changes for me with no problem or additional cost. I did pay an additional $300.00 to have the thicker 15mil plastic put on the floor. It was well worth the extra expense. They normally put 15mil plastic on the walls and 10mil on the floors. The company removed excess foam insulation from the crawlspace block and sealed the existing vents for the crawlspace. They then insulated with R-19 the top of the crawlspace interior. The walls were covered with 15mil plastic and secured below the sill plate with 2"x1" wood trim bolted to the concrete block. The floor was then added with the 15mil and was then sealed to the wall seams. All seams were taped with a special 4" wide water proof tape. All pipe going in and out of the block walls were covered and sealed with the special tape. Both of the sump pump pits were sealed and all the TV cables were secured to the floor joist. A special insulated crawlspace door and frame were installed with a special locking system. Shannon also advised that the door could be tied into the alarm system if I wanted. All of the old plastic on the floor, old insulation, and materials were removed and hauled away by Shannon. The vent was also added to the plenum for the heating and cooling. This allows for the crawlspace to be heated and air conditioned. Shannon advised that this actually saves heating and cooling cost.

Shannon came out to look at the crawl space and take photos. He then set up a time to show me the photos and estimate for what needed to be done. He was very professional and I was impressed that he had the photos in a slide show on his laptop, which made it easy to show me specifics as he went through the estimate. I called Matt to schedule the work, and he said they would be able to come out about two weeks from the day I called. Two weeks later, they called and said they would be out the next day, which they were. They kept me informed of the progress and did the work in the time they said they would. I had some questions in the middle of the project and Shannon answered everything. I didn't feel like I was bothering him or asking stupid questions. When they were finished, they took after photos and left a CD of these with me. I received estimates from three different companies. Crawlspace Doctor was about the same price as one, and about half the price of the other one, but was also the most responsive of the three. I felt like they wanted my business, but did not pressure me. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Removed all insulation and debris and hauled it away. Installed drainage system, insulation on box headers, new sump pit, and reinforced an area where the floor above was sagging. Took care of erosion around the sump pit. Tied up all wiring that was on the ground and reattached heating vent hoses that had come off.

We did not hire Crawlspace Doctor to insulate our crawlspace due to other issues which had to be taken care of in the house. The gentleman that called on me was one of the partners. He assessed my house's saging foundation problems and proposed a preposterous solution to my woes. He wanted to dig a French drain around the perimeter of my crawlspace with a sump pump to remove water. He totally missed the fact that my foundation was sagging as a result of downspout water migrating directly (in high volume) under my foundation. I then found out he installed a French drain in my neighbor's house as an additional "safeguard" during a repair of a ruptured sewer waste line in their crawlspace. I would not recommend this charlatan to anyone with any kind of problem in their foundation or crawl space. He's slick, smooth and, in my opinion a dishonest contractor and I'll bet he makes a lot of money on French drains!!

The new sump pit cost around $3300 when we put it in July, 2011. It included 2 new sump pumps, one which is a battery back up pump. He also put in 2 sealed lids that are screwed down to our cement. It is very professional looking and worked very well when we got around 4" of rain over the weekend. The pumps easily handled the load...we could have even gotten much more and it would not have been a problem.
Description of Work: Matt and his crew had put in another sump pit with 2 additional sump pumps that ties in to our other sump pit, because we live by a creek. They put this in over a year ago, but it really got tested over the weekend when we got 4 inches of rain. Everything worked as planned. Matt stopped by today because we asked him to re-check one of the pumps and change the float height. He came over very promptly, as he always does. He is always very nice to work with and answers all our questions when they arise. He did not charge us for this service call because he said he was just rechecking things.

The service and professionalism of this company was great. Shannon Blazwich provided me with the estimate. He took his time describing the process to me. I was very impressed with the fact that he placed all the photos from his inspection onto a CD for me. This gave me the opportunity to show my husband what was deficient and needed to be corrected. The project was scheduled for 5 days, but it only took 4. The crew was very easy to work with. Since having the encapsulation completed, we have no more spiders, millipedes, crickets & snakes lurking in our basement. Plus, the chipmunks can no longer burrow into them either. The humidity and temperature in the whole house has improved. The cost of this project was well worth it. I would definitely recommend this company to family and friends.

Shannon, Troy and Crawlspace Doctor are to be complimented for doing a great job. They were on time, patient, professional, and I cannot thank them enough for the fine job they did. I would recommend the company to anyone having issues with their crawlspace. Ryan & Herb
Description of Work: The crawlspace at my renovated home has had an odor coming up through the house for the past several months. The odor seemed to be getting worst and I was not sure who to call. I went through Angie's list as to see what company best to call to resolve the problem and the reviews of Crawlspace Doctor encouraged me to call them. On Thrursday, 1/10/13, Shannon from the company arrived promptly as scheduled. He checked the house and the crawl area thoroughtly and was certain it was sewer gas. He called his associate, Troy, to come and assist him as Troy was at another job site. Troy went down and thoroughly inspected the crawlspace and found in a far corner an old uncapped sewer vent. He provided a cover for the sewer vent and sealed it. Immediately, there was a significant improvement in the overall air quality of the house. They made some additional suggestions regarding the foundation that were helpful.

We had an issue with water in our crawlspace that we have been having a problem with for some time. I also had a odor in I was smelling and did not know where it was coming from, our bedroom doors did not shut anymore. I joy angie list again and I look for someone who dealt with crawlspace and the found them. They gave and told us that our crawlspace had a lot of water in it. They recommend a drainage system. One the water was pump out they notice that we had a hole in our gas line. We call in the the gas company & it was confirmed. Once we got the gas line fixed they proceed with the drainage system and then our ducts were completed rusted out, we had to get ducts done and well. They did the wood repair. Matt and his team were great and knowledgeable obout the whole problem that we were having. They are a great bunch of guys and seem to work well with each other. Thank a bunch!

Overall it was a very pleasant experience.
Description of Work: Called Matt to just come out and double check to make the sure the sump pump was operating okay as it has been almost two years since he completed the work. Everything has been working fine since completion but i just wanted assurance that everything was still okay. He came out the next morning and went under the house to double check everything and assure me that it was fine. I really appreciated his immediate response to my request. Matt Dieters is a fine person to work with and very honest. I hardily recommend him for any craw; space job. Bob Grover

It took Matt and his team 2 full days to clean out and haul away dust and debris from the basement and crawlspace of our 100 year old remodeled home. He used spray foam on the entire perimeter. A vapor shield was put on throughout the crawlspace. We have already noticed a huge difference in the musty odor and how much better the house is insulated. Could not ask for a better company to do this work for us! Very professional any very responsive.
