One of the keypads on my alarm stopped functioning unexpectedly. I was not able to get it to work after reading the manual. Since Corman had installed my system in 1997 I called them for advice. I explained the problem to the lady who answered. She looked up my name and found my records. She said that it may have just died from use, but suggested that I try a "hard reset", by unplugging the power and the battery to the control panel. I had planned to do that, but was afraid I would lose all my codes. I did what she suggested and that cured the problem. I was afraid they would try to get me to agree to a costly service call to troubleshoot the problem, but was impressed that she tried to help me on the phone instead. However, I would probably not use them for a new system based on their Angie's List reviews.

Description of Work: I have been a customer of Corman Security since 1988 in a previous home. About 15 months ago, I had a problem with my security system/phones that caused my phones to malfunction unpredictably. I called Corman Security to check out the sytem, at which time Randy Corman did a "quick fix" and told me that he would need to return to replace a wire that originated in the attic. He said the office would call me to schedule the work. I never received a call from the office but when I did call to schedule the appointment, the person answering the phone gave me excuses as to why Randy was not available - vacation, very busy, too hot in the attic to make the repairs, etc. During this time I was caring for a very ill parent so I didn't press the issue. The security system was working but my printer couldn no be "on" or my phone calls would immediately go to the fax mode. After my parent passed away and I got back to a regular routine, I called the office to schedule the repair. It was only in August, when I received the bill for my yearly monitoring fee that I called and said that I would not pay the fee until my system was repaired. It took until November to finally schedule the fix. Obviously, due to the situation described above, I did not pay for the repair. I have discussed this with Randy Corman and he was appreciative of my suggestions, but I am now using another company to monitor and service my security system.

Despite numerous calls, we're still waiting for a call back. They are a very small company that seems to have taken on way too much work. They said they are too busy working with contractors putting systems in new homes to get to our doorbell. I can only hope that the quality of the Nu Tone systems they are placing now in new homes is better than ours. Otherwise, there will be lots of disappointed customers, as the sound of the speakers aren't great, and the doorbell quit working way before it should have.
Description of Work: A few years ago, we had our Nu Tone intercom system upgraded by Corman. Despite it being expensive, the quality of the product is poor - I would not ever recommend Nu Tone. And since Corman is the only Nu Tone dealer in the area, when our Nu Tone doorbell (which is part of the intercom system) stopped working a few months ago, I called them to set up an appointment to fix it.

While I have to say this company has good quality, it took them over 2 months to schedule an appointment to complete the job. This is an extremely small company and cannot handle their workload it would appear. I had to go with a larger company to ensure timely service.

The office staff on the phone were very nice while trying to schedule the appointment. Came as planned and was professional, helpful and honest.
Description of Work: Purchased a condo with their system already installed. They came out to check the system, repaired faulty smoke alarm and replace dead battery. Also reprogrammed the security system and taught me how to use it. Although the system is old, they said it is very reliable and mentioned they felt no need to upgrade to a more expensive system.
