I would call him an artisan, but he says he is just a skilled worker who has been working with plaster for more than 30 years. Our house was built in 1922, and was neglected for a considerable period. Keith Cooper of Cooper Plastering had previously repaired external stucco for us, and because of the quality of his work, we asked him to return to work on internal plaster. I took 11 days to complete the repairs, with him working diligently the whole time Mr. Cooper did an extensive amount of patching damaged internal plaster, including walls, arches, ceilings and stairwells. He was on time every day. If there was more damage than appeared on the surface, he would tell me about the repairs that were involved. He completely solved our problems and our interior looks better than it has in years. In addition to the plaster, he did a considerable amount of carpentry work, sistering 2x12s to damaged joists. Finally, he suggested a painter and electrician who both did excellent work at reasonable cost.
Mr. Cooper was very accommodating to do the repairs in a timely manner as we were finishing painting the foyer. He went above and beyond by helping fit a door in the same space.

Keith came and gave me a quote promptly after I called him. After awarding him the job, he showed up when he said he would. IT took him a little longer to complete the job than he initially thought. There was also an entire week that he was unable to show up to our jobsite (although he did warn me about this ahead of time). His work is excellent. We are very happy with how well our stairwell looks with the plaster.

When my husband shut the door behind him on his way out, he looked at me and said "Under no circumstances, is that guy allowed back in the house." We'd had our basement gutted for mold remediation and I was getting quotes on putting it back together. The walls in the basement are plaster, so I was looking forward to his estimate as it looked like he'd done some good work for other members in my neighborhood. But he smelled like a bar, took multiple bathroom trips and generally didn't make much sense during the short time we were together. He said the floor tiles that had been under the carpet were asbestos - but then said that all the health issues related to asbestos were a bunch of old wives tales. What!? I have small children in the house, whom he met on his way in. He didn't take any measurements or notes and I never got a quote from him. My husband only needed to talk to him for 60 seconds before making the assessment that he wasn't coming back. I hope he was just having a bad day.

Keith is an artist. We had considerable damage to our stucco exterior. Keith repaired everything he said that he would. When he found additional problems (and there were additional problems) he told us how much they would cost to fix and then fixed them. The work is exceptional.

Keith Cooper arrived on time to give an estimate, gave what felt to me a fair estimate, and judged the job would take two to three days. We arranged to begin the next day, and in the event it took a day and a half. He and his assistant Tony were extremely courteous, punctual, and worked quickly and well. The wall looks terrific. There was a slight issue with excessive dust, but Keith then went absolutely above and beyond in terms of clean up, and seemed to be genuinely concerned that we were satisfied. We would use him again, and intend to for some masonry projects on the outside of the house.

Once Keith was able to start my job, he was always on time, took care to protect my carpet & furniture, was sure to introduce me to all subcontractors (fireplace repair and painting) and did a good job of cleanup. Because he is a one person operation I had to help him move some of the larger pieces back into the living room-not a problem.

Excellent - see prior comments where full story is told.
Description of Work: Cooper Plastering was efficient though out the process. Keith Cooper and his assistant promptly arrived to conduct and estimate and explain the process. My house was built in 1925 with plaster and he explained how we would repair the ceiling as well as inspected other rooms that had cracks. The room he worked on had an area where the plaster collapsed. On the date of the repairs he called a half hour prior to confirm and arrived exactly on time. He made sure the room was secured and had material in place to prevent dust from entering other rooms. The ceiling was flawless and he did an excellent job of cleaing the site as well. When I saw the finished job it exceeded my expectations. He also followed up to see if anything else needed to be done. I would highly recommend Cooper Plastering. Years of experience and a company you know will do quality work at a reasonable rate.

The workers needed to build a scaffold and protect the surrounding area. After they did that, they did an excellent job sealing the windows and then repairing and replacing the stucco that was bubbling up and cracking. It looks great and no problems so far.

He is excellent and does a great job. His craftsmanship is great and is a master in his craft. He is neither a salesman nor a people pleaser, but wants to do things right, as he knows how to do it in the right way. The thing that impressed me the most was that, if I give him a 106 year old house and ask him to fix something; he will do it the best. I have worked with him many times and he does such a great job, that I always hire him. It may get a little difficult to get him at times, as he is very busy, but he comes on time for any scheduled job. I like his services a lot and will use the same in future.

After a false start in connecting, Keith gave us an immediate price estimate, and finished the tuckpointing job in two days. Did fine work matching existing mortar color. This is the sort of job where you hopefully can't tell where the work has been done. Keith was friendly and did the job to our satisfaction.

He's very, very good. He is an independent craftsman. He is a little bit quirky but he is a master craftsman. He does things that nobody else does. I have been restoring a 1927 house for the last ten years and he has done some stuff that has been really incredible. He is very reasonable in his pricing. I use him all the time. There are 60 rooms and two separate houses. He is the kind of guy who works with me. When I see something I call him and he comes in and does it. Then he comes back a few weeks later. I spend several thousand dollars in a given year with him. He has a partner that does roofing and woodworking.

It went very well. Keith is very trustworthy. He knows his trade, and delivered work of the highest quality. I own one of Indianapolis' grand historic homes, which I cannot entrust to anyone. Keith does true historic restoration work, which he learned from his father and his uncle, both plasterers. He does all my masonry, plastering, stucco, and tiling work.
Description of Work: Keith Cooper re-did the stucco in one room that had been poorly "repaired" by the previous owner. He also re-did ceilings in three other rooms, and repaired stucco that had been damaged by water infiltrations in yet another room. Finally, he repaired a very elaborate plaster molding that had also been damaged by water.

It went very well. Keith was very responsive and came the next morning. The repair was completed within a week. Everything was cleaned up afterwards and left spotless. This is not the first time I used him. I am restoring a large house, and have used him many other times for ceilings, moldings, plastering, stucco, tiling, mosaic, etc. He is a true "old-world" craftsman. Before him, I used his father, John Cooper, who worked in many Indianapolis historic homes.
Description of Work: Keith Cooper rebuilt an outside retaining wall that had been smashed by a car. He cleaned up the mess from the accident, rebuilt the wall which is over a-foot thick, and reset the decorative stones that were encased into the wall. Then he stuccoed the wall.

MR. COOPER WAS CALLED IN BY BOB SPARKS TO ASSIST IN A TUCKPOINT JOB. THE FEE I QUOTE ON MR. SPARKS JOB REFLECT THE $450 ON THIS REPORT. A VERY POOR TUCK POINT JOB ON A CHIMNEY. IN FACT, IT APPEARED THAT ALL MR. COOPER DID WAS SUPERVISE A WORKER. MORTAR ALL OVER THE BRICKWORK AND POOR ACID WASH AFTER. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE FAULT, CONDITION AND SHAPE OF THE BRICKS THAT MADE THE JOB LOOK BAD AND NOT THE FACT THAT THE MORTAR WAS ALL OVER THEM. VERY, VERY POOR JOB. I WOULD NOT USE AGAIN!!!
