Computer Housecalls

This is the third time I've used Bruce's (Computer Housecalls) services over the past three years. Each time I've been completely satisfied. I consider his $70 hourly charge (which has remained the same over the three year period I've known him) to be a very good value. Plus he always trys to solve the problem and give advice over the phone at no charge. I will continue to call upon Bruce for all my computer service needs. If you need a "computer guy" , I highly recommend him.

We actually had the wrong kind of printer. He waited while we went to get the correct one. We have used him for about 3 or 4 years. He generally answers the phone himself. He will call right back if you leave a voicemail. He is very good at what he does. He has done work at our office as well. I have recommended him in the past.

Bruce Stokes, the owner of the company, responded to my phone call. He tried to help me solve my networking problem on the phone and suggested several steps I could make to resolve the issue without a house call. After those measures failed to solve the problem. I was able to schedule a house call for the next day. He arrived right on schedule and worked in a timely manner. While he worked he was very generous with advice and helpful information to make my computer work at home more efficient and enjoyable. His standard fee is $70/hr. After working for almost 2 hours, my charge was only for 1 and 1/2 hours. After he had been gone about 15 minutes, Bruce called back with another piece of advice that occurred to him on the drive home. This, to me indicates a genuine interest in the best service for the customer.

After attempting to upgrade my Outlook password I found myself unable to use my e-mail at all. A message left with Bruce mid-afternoon brought a phone call about 7:00 P.M. Bruce has been my go-to computer guru since 2005. Because I trust him he has the ability to login to my computer remotely to help with issues. He did this, guided me through the process and had me up and running in about 30 minutes. As always, Bruce provided prompt, patient, courteous and professional service for a reasonable price.

We had two (2) laptops that needed cleaned up from viruses and tuned up. I was ready to buy new laptops. Remember this was during the holidays. I left a message and received a call back within minutes. Computer Housecalls was ready to come to the house that day but I scheduled the service for the next day. (I'm sure you are aware it would have been weeks if I had gone to one of the box stores and hundreds of dollars). Anyway, Bruce showed up on time and ready to work. He was very professional and shared some ideas to help us understand the cybor world. And before he left, he had both machines in top notch condition. I highly recommend this company. I will not go anywhere else for computer service. I'm about as picky as they get and I was very impressed. Thanks for a job well done!!

I called Computer Housecalls late in the afternoon. Bruce Stokes (the owner) answered the phone and I explained my computer problem to him. He graciously suggested how I might be able to correct the problem without him having to make a service call. That evening I tried using his suggestions to solve the problem but the problem did not get solved. The next morning I called Bruce and he said he could be at my house by 10:00 am. He arrived promptly and started working on the computer meticulously and gave me some suggestions at the same time as to how to keep the computer in good condition. Also he put some programs on the computer to protect it from viruses. He finished his work in one hour and I had a very cleaned-up computer. I was thoroughly satisfied with his work. I would highly recommend him.

Like I said (above) he fixed my computer. restored its operating capability to its original condition. For $70. That's a bargain since I did not have to disconnect anything and leave it in a strange shop somewhere.

I found this company on Angies List. I contacted Bruce and was quickly put on his schedule. Bruce arrived as scheduled. He quickly got to work and had everything up and running better than it has ever run. Bruce was very pleasant and helpful. I had read on other reports that people found that he explained things well to those who may not be as tech savy, and I too found that to be the case.

Bruce was available in just a day or so and arrived at the scheduled time. He guessed that all of this would take between one and a half hours to two hours, and that turned out to be accurate. I can't believe how fast he works though. In addition to moving everything to the new computer, Bruce removed the unnecessary programs that had been pre-loaded by the manufacturer...such as trial versions of Norton software, etc. He then set up Microsoft Security Essentials, a free anti-virus program that was very adequate for my needs. He also got the router moved and completed everything within his estimated charges. Another reason for my A rating on "price" is that Bruce has communicated with me several times by phone or email to "tweak" a few things that were needed to make everything work perfectly...at no additional charge. There are almost always "unintended circumstances" that result from such a major change. In our case it was the back-up software that didn't act quite right. Bruce was especially helpful in staying in touch until I was satisfied. I would definitely use him again.

My computer had become infected with some spyware. I contacted Bruce of Computer Housecall since I had used his services about a year ago. Over the phone he told me if I had access to another computer I could download some instructions from his website and try fixing it myself and save a service call. I decided to give it a try. However the firewall of my computer at work prevented me from acessing his website. I called Bruce back and had him come out to fix the problem. As I watched him clean up my computer, I'm glad I had a professional do it. A short time later, I had another little problem and I called him after hours expecting to leave him a message. He answered the phone and told me how to fix my problem. I'm 2 for 2 in having a good experience with Computer Housecalls and definely recommend Bruce for all you computer problem needs.

I called Bruce about one month ago and told him I was in the process of buying a new PC and asked him if he would set up the new PC and he said yes and took my name and phone number. When all of the components of the new system arrived, I called Bruce and left him a message. He called me back promptly and we set up a date and time. He called the morning of the scheduled installation and said he was running a little early and asked me if I was ready for him. He arrived within ten minutes and immediately started working, with me asking questions as the process progressed. He was very friendly and readily answered my questions very thoroughly and went out of his way to be sure that I understood the answers. The whole process went very smoothly, although I'm sure I slowed him down somewhat by my questions. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and would definitely use him again. Before he left, he suggested that I use the new PC for a while and jot down any questions I had while using the new system and call him so he could answer them. Again, a great experience with a real professional.

Contacted Bruce with the issue and he was out to fix the problem the next day. In less than an hour, we were able to regain access to our computer as well as receiving free anti-virus software which was more compatible for older machines. Bruce was also available for consultation after the visit at no addtional cost to ensure that my machine was running properly. Kudos for wonderful customer service at a great price!

I reached Bruce directly and told him my husband's laptop was non-functional because of a virus and asked if he repaired that kind of thing. He said he did and could be here later that morning and was. He called when he was on the way and was able to fix the computer, much to my husband's relief since he was in the middle of a report and feared he'd lost it. We were very pleased with the promptness.

Overall it went very well. I told Bruce that I would certainly call him if I had any more problems with my computer.

called late evening on 09/30/10 explained to bruce what was happening and what i had done like picking up this virus shortly after down loading this farmville game. Bruce said I know your problem a virus . and it was we have used bruce on 09/01/10 and was pleased with his service and price. thanks to angies list and hats off to Bruce he came through again. thanks angie list . thanks to Bruce for taking care of this problem.

Bruce answered the phone when I called and came out the next morning. Neither computer would turn on and he checked both to see if a new power supply would solve the problem. Both computers were old (15 and 8 years old) and neither were helped by the new power supply. He was prompt, polite and seemed knowledgeable. He spent a lot of time trying different ideas to get the computers working and then explaining our options. He patiently answered our questions and overall spent about an hour and a half with us.

Very prompt and responsive. Overall, a good service experience.

He knew what he was doing. Explained it all to me and my computer was running without the virus. He had removed the virus.

Bruce evaluated and fixed the problem in about 15 minutes or so. He then performed various checks, got rid of a lot of stuff that wasn't being used and slowed down the computer. He gave various tips and set me up with a prescribed maitenance plan. Overall he spent about an hour & 15 minutes but only charged for an hour. I selected Computer Housecalls because of the impressive reports on Angie's list and the fact that business is fairly close to my home. I was not disappointed. I will definitely contact Bruce the next time I have a computer issue. My wife & I are going to make a list of things we need help with and plan on contacting Bruce in the future for some training.

Mr. Stokes promptly returned our Friday evening call & gave us a slot Saturday morning--just what we asked for. We saw how wise were the other comments from List members: Yes, Mr. Stokes is competent, calming, & helpful. While we're not technically senior citizens quite yet, we noted on his Website that he specializes in helping seniors. From this, we suspected we wouldn't be subjected to the ruthless kidding we sometimes take from the computer-savvy. We were right: Mr. Stokes is both polite & kind to our Luddite segment of the population. He didn't take an hour to fix the problem--but he did stay behind & walk us informatively through some other decisions we'd made with the computer setup we have. He was generous with his time & professional yet friendly, & he hadn't been out of the house for more than 5 minutes before we found ourselves making a list of other questions we had for him on what we're planning as a next "computer training" visit. Terrific experience. Thank you, Mr. Stokes!

Called him to look at my computer. He told me it was a Spyware problem and told me how to fix it and did not charge me anything for this information. Bruce is a great guy and very knowledgeable.

Outstanding service. I called on a Friday after hours and left a message. The call was returned within minutes. Arrived on Saturday morning. I couldn't get that kind of service from anyone including the store where I bought the computer. And most important the price was right. Thanks Computer Housecalls.

He is great to work with. He is happy to answer questions by phone as well, which we appreciate. We will contine to work with him in the future.

I have used him enough times that I am on personable basis with him. I have recommended him to a couple of friends. He charges $70 an hour and that is usually how long he is here. One time I needed a fan and that took a little more time to go get one and put it in so I paid $150 or $160 but I don't care because it was necessary. He was very knowledgeable and was able to fix whatever he was fixing every time I called him. He usually can get to me within 3 or 4 days sometimes right away but I am usually not in that big a hurry. I would give him A's on all categories and would definitely use him in the future.

Our laptop was running slow so Bruce gave it a good "tune up" and improved the speed. He also checked on several things on the desktop computer to make sure the backup program and other features are working properly. I very much appreciate Bruce's expertise. I feel much more secure using my computer with Bruce checking on it. Bruce has me set up with multiple levels of backup so I don't have to worry about loosing info that is essential to my small businesses continued success.
