Community Exteriors was a pleasure to work with. I have never before has such wonderful customer service. They inspected my roof which showed hail damage and then worked with my insurance company from start to finish. They were hands on through the entire process from checking the roofing materials that were delivered, to checking in several times while the roof was being replaced and again when the job was completed. I highly recommend Community Exteriors.

On Monday, August 12, 2019, 07:21:21 PM EDT, Cindy ****** Hello again, Im just getting home from work and have yet to hear from Community Exteriors on the subject of our roof install via phone or email. I did get the opportunity to speak with the City of Lawrence inspector, Chris XXXX, who is assigned to this site and asked if it was indeed Lawrence code to have a rolled roof installed on a roof with this pitch. He wasnt completely familiar with the term "rolled roof" so I elaborated. His response was as I expected. There is no code in the City of Lawrence requiring this to be installed on our roof nor did he instruct anyone in the crew that there was. I dont feel comfortable speaking for him so I attached his business card that he left along with the attached inspection report. And I am seeing that there is ventilation missing that should of been installed for the garage if Im reading this correctly. Im hoping that you have made a decision on how to move forward with this. Clearly, in order to pass the inspection you must install the vent but I hoping at the same time you will lay our shingles that we purchased at the same time. As mentioned below, the shingles are primarily cosmetic for this particular roofing job since the rolled roof as already been installed. We do require this work to be completed before considering this job done. The Lawrence Police officer who assisted me during your teams far-fetched actions is also here. I would think that would be available to you via the report that he granted your "sales guy". My work hours are X-X through the week. Im hoping someone will be reaching out to me tomorrow to discuss the provisions that need to be made. Thank you, Cindy ****** On Sunday, August 11, 2019, 02:18:22 PM EDT, Cindy ****** Hello, Just quick review/update on our roofing project being preformed by Community Exteriors. Happy with Chris Faulk as a sales representative. I think he shared almost all details needed for this to be successful project with only one missing gap. Sadly, its a pretty big gap. My guess is he wasnt explained the situation until after a decisions was made without getting our approval. Just not sure. Worked with Chris on getting estimates for roof, gutter, soffit replacement. He suggested attempting to file "hail and wind damage" with our home insurance company. Great idea and we did have some success with that. Still had to pay for some of the repair but value was definitely seen. Our original contract even states "homeowner to pay zero out of pocket". Chris answered all question in a timely fashion and when any kind of decision was pending he always kept us up to date. We felt we knew what to expect and were happy with our decision. Prior to beginning the project we were told that our township required full decking replacement on roofing projects and Community went back in to get that approved and covered by insurance. The price we were quoted for soffit/gutter replacement was misquoted by about $2000 but Chris told us prior so we could make our own decision on whether to follow through or not. Weekend before project was to start got a very informative vm from whom I assume was the install contractor. We got our home ready according to this call and really appreciated that info. Crew arrived at the exact time that we were told and began working. The crew as great at cleaning up after themselves with the exception of throwing chicken bones in our back yard after lunch (we have a garage can readily accessable for things like that) At this point ALL communication ended with the contractor doing the install. We had no idea of dates and times that they would be returning, IF they were returning, no feedback on the damage to our shutter and trim on the bay window, just said nothing. Again, Chris would take a call or text from us and follow through with details up until the end of the project (we're at day 4 at this time). When I got home from work on Friday 8/9 I noticed there was still a large gaping hole in the siding over the bay window and there were no shingles on the back 3/4ths of our garage roof. I reached out to Chris for an explanation and this is where we were in utter dismay in the lack of communication on such a crucial subject that hadnt been shared with us by Community Exteriors. It was explained that this portion of the garage roof needed what was called a rolled roof and that it is "code" in our township and that there would be no shingles installed. This isnt going to work for us. I have called a home inspector to get follow up on this "code" and was told specifically that it very well could be a city code but that has nothing to do with laying shingles on top of the rolled roof. This can be easy done and is sound due to the rolled roof being made of asphalt it would expand after installation and seal the roof and any penetrations in it. I have reach out to the City of Lawrence inspector that was assigned this case but with it being late on a Friday and followed by a weekend I dont think we will be able to speak to him till Monday. This was NEVER discussed or explained to us prior OR DURING this roofing installation. We would like to have shingles installed on the rest of our roof. If your company has an issue with "warrantying" this process we will forgo the warranty on this portion of the garage. I might also suggest that who ever quoted this/added the speculation to our contract clearly hasnt seen the 6 exact duplicate houses/garages within a 1 block radius of our house that all have a fully shingled roof. All governed by the same City of Lawrence and the same "code". I am attaching pictures of the damaged shutter and bay window here along with the remaining investment that we are in possession of from the build. I dont want to go into the humiliation your representative put me through when trying to recover the materials that were delivered to us for our job. The job, that in our opinion, is not completed. These 2 guys.............. well, lets just say they need some training in customer service. They are an embarrassment to your company that frankly Ive removed the whole experience from my memory and work with the favorable experience we were having up until Friday. Thank heavens there is a police report recapping the incident. Hope to hear from your company asap with the dates and time when you will be back on site to complete our roof. At that time we will sign off and pay any remaining balance for our work. Not sure if we should move forward with the gutter install that we wanted after this. We are considering selling our home soon and at this point I have to show interested real estate agents the embarrassing remains of the work we hired Community Exteriors to do. Ive also removed your advertising sign from the yards so no one thinks this is representative of the work that your company sells. Cindy ******

Community Exteriors put up new gutters without replacing the bad fascia as promised. They are now asking for $1,600 to fix their botched job.

Came out and identified hail damage. Worked with my insurance company and met them and everything was paid by insurance. It took about 2 weeks from start to finish. They delivered the materials one day and then started the work on roof the next day. This is a large roof and it took them 2 days to do put on. Looks really good. They cleaned up after themselves. This was easier than I thought it would be since they talked with insurance company and handled all the paperwork.

They were fast. A whole crew came in and did it. It was an experience, it was good. It took 2 days to complete. They cleaned up pretty well. Communicating was good. Our insurance agreed to it.
