ComfortPro Indianapolis was hired by our general contractor when we added a two-story additional to our house in 2014 so my elderly mother could live with us. I waited to review because often you don't know how a good a service is until you need maintenance. During construction the company was punctual but the general contractor supervised that. We chose them because their price was a few thousand dollars less than another quote we had, and we weren't wild about having two systems which the competitor recommended. We also thought that since they were working with the contractor we should use them. So we decided to get one system with 3 zones and they installed dampers in the ducts and three thermostats – which was programmable, so the air would flow from one zone to another as needed. It worked ok for about a year and we thought that it had solved the long-standing problem with an upstairs that didn't heat or cool well. We were sold a “highly efficient unit” from Carrier. However, our heating/cooling bill nearly doubled, although the size of the addition was less than a third of the original house. And it the brand new air conditioning unit compressor was LOUD! (The 30+ year old one we’d had forever that it replaced was quiet – but we were told we needed a new one). Right under our bedroom window so we couldn’t sleep. We asked them to move it to the other side of the addition to solve the problem and they said they would do it for cost of materials (which was over $600). We agreed. That solved the sound problem (which wasn’t their fault because it was on the plans, but maybe they should have known that such a unit in a 2 story corner would do that.) Sometime after the move the AC failed due to a leak and we had to pay for that to be repaired. Over time I noticed that the zones would come on very fast and not for very long – which probably explains the high electricity bills. And the units controlling the dampers would fail and when that would happen it was expensive to fix (there was one unit on each duct). At one point we asked them to come out and fix my mother’s unit and Darnell told my husband that he wouldn’t have done it if wasn’t her unit. I don’t think it was in jest because with me, he was argumentative or dismissive and didn’t like to answer questions. (His staff was nice, though). I’m not sure exactly how many times they came out to fix our new state-of-the-art system, but Darnell, the owner actually argued with me about that when I asked why this kept happening. Our experience since the first year has been that some parts of the house cool or heat correctly but often a different zone doesn’t work at all. And it switches, so we never know where the problem will be. We tried to get him to come out and repair this over the winter (2017-2018) and he just disappeared. We called several times, and one time a woman working for him called back and said he would come out but he never did. And yet – I would receive frequent emails from their marketing service soliciting check-ups - which was upsetting since we were desperately trying to get his attention. We limped along through the winter by buying space heaters and moving them to whatever part of the house was cold, but now it is summer and my 89-year-old mom has no air conditioning in her unit and we’re looking for someone who is capable and willing to fix this problematic system. Our conclusion is that the zoned system was an experiment, and the owner does not have the necessary skills to maintain the system they built and that is why he won’t return calls. Now I wish I had paid more for the two systems recommended by a company we knew and trusted and feel completely that I was “penny-wise and pound-foolish.” I also anticipate that sometime in the next few years I may have to replace the entire system and dearly hope that isn’t true.

It went well and quickly. Duct work could have been a bit better since I went down in the crawlspace and found a leak to which they quickly sealed.

They were much more reasonably priced than some other companies. He even followed up 3 weeks later to check on the work and offered the same warranty that a lot of the bigger companies offer and included it in the overall price. He helped us research units as well to provide one that was best for our home and with a mind towards finding the most cost effective solution.

Comfort Pros were subcontracted to do the work in our 2-story addition. They were professional and courteous, showed up on time, and came back (on a Friday evening, no less) to make a change we requested. We are very happy with the product and service we received and would use Comfort Pros in the future.
Description of Work: Installed new supplies and returns for 2-story addition. Tied into existing HVAC system.

Darnell and his crew were better than we could have hoped for to work with on this project. We requested 4 estimates. His price was the best and he was the most responsive to our requests for certain specs. From the initial contact through installation, he always called when he said he would; showed up when he said he would; and went above and beyond during the installation process: covering the floors and their feet so as to not track in dirt, having everything completely prepared for installation, providing our utility rebate paperwork, and registering our warranties for us. We've done some major renovation work over the past year-and-a-half and Darnell has been the one contractor that has been the best to work with. Please call him!!

They were completely professional, they took their time, really seen what needed to be done because I didn't upgrade to a 96% furnace so it included new piping and everything. They took a lot of time to figure out the best route to go and if they could use the old area. He was extremely informative. They were great.

Darnell did a wonderful job and he's a super guy. I have had three water heaters and not a single person has noticed this issue before Darnell. The work was excellent. They were here on time and got everything done within a few hours. The price was reasonable.

The technician and his assistant arrived promptly and place a covering over their shoes ( to protect my carpet from getting dusty). He informed me of the estimated time that it should take to complete the entire service and invited me to ask questions throughout the process. During the inspection, he discovered a minor gas leak and informed me that it was so minor that had it remained undetected, that my family and I would not have been in immediate danger. Nevertheless, he corrected the problem at no additional charge and installed a new filter. He ended the service with a suggestion that I have my air conditioning unit inspected soon and asked if I had any further questions.
