+ -1 moreTerrible. The installation errors cost me $894.00 in excess electricity costs. I was offered $200.00 compensation. As a result of my request for the full amount Mr. Duncan has threated legal action, insulted this complainants national heritage with ethnic slurs (one was: Canadians don't belong in America) and threatened a smear campaign. "My plan will be too smear you", are the words in his latest e-mail Mon 8/27/2007. The $200.00 offer has been withdrawn and states he will not compensate the complaintant in any way for the electricity bills. Mr. Duncan has stated he will not honor the 5 year parts and labor warranty he contracted for, nor perform the fall tune-up which was part of the contract. Comfort Doctor offers Customer Satisfaction Guarantee: Complete removal of all equipment for any reason within first year of installation. I've asked 3 times (installation was 9 months ago) and was told it didn't apply to my installation. I would never deal with this company again.
Description of Work: Installed new heat pump and air handler. Three install errors. 1st: The On/Off Switch for heat pump outside was in left in "OFF" position. This caused the unit to run non-stop 24/7. The original installer came to the house, showed us the error, apologized for it, admitted he was the one who installed the system and made the error. 2nd Error: Once the heat was turned on in the house, there was no hot air circulating through the house but the utility room was boiling hot. Mr. Duncan personally came to the house to fix this problem. He rewired the air handler and admitted it had been wired incorrectly by the original installer. Third Error: Serviceman from Appel Heating wrote on bill: Found suction line on outdoor unit had not been opened. Compressor NOT pumping freon. Goes off on internal relief in heat mode, goes into vacuum and shuts off in cooling mode. Heat pump cannot heat or cool. Opened valve appears to be working properly at this time. Installation Error.
