Overall, we are very pleased with the project. We would definitely use them again however may do some things a little different. Hindsight is always 20/20 so it is easier to look back on a project and say if only we knew at the time.... In the beginning we met with Brandon and he walked us through the process and expectations. He offered suggestions and what we could do with an existing wall we didn't want and a peninsula we didn't like. He was very professional and offered ideas we hadn't thought of. After we decided to go with this company we met with the interior designer, Megan. We had been pinning ideas of what we wanted and what we liked on Pinterest and shared these ideas with her and Brandon and they were able to draw it out so that we could see it; we are visual people. They were able to create our ideal kitchen based off of what we had been pinning and we were all set to get started. Darrin was assigned to us as the project manager and there is nothing but great things we can say about him. He was very professional and seemed to be looking out for our best interest. He pointed out things during the process that we would have never seen. He was all over the project as if it were his own. He was also the one who came up with the pocket door / pantry idea that we had never even considered and know we can't imagine it being anything else. As with any project there are bound to be some hiccups. These were few and far between and we appreciated the communication Darrin provided to us to keep us in the loop of what was going on. Every question we had was answered and any concern we had was dealt with. This project took approximately 8 weeks and it went smoothly for about 5 - 6 weeks. We had some miscommunication over the backsplash but the company took care of it. We had received an estimate at the beginning of the job and made a couple of changes during the process. We had an idea in our heads about how much the project was going to cost and they had done some "extra" work while we were waiting on a delay in receiving some cabinets / counter tops. When the final bill arrived we were a little surprised as it was a tad over what we had calculated in our heads. We called to get clarification on the line items and after a little back and forth we understood where the costs were. We had no problem with the bill after the explanation. We must add that during the cabinet installation our brand new stainless steel refrigerator had been noticeably scratched on the front right door. At that time we had pointed this out and we were told they would be able to buff it out. After a few attempts it wasn't getting any better, actually, it looked much worse. Now, back to the final walk through...We mentioned that we had gotten a price on replacing the refrigerator door and offered to order the door ourselves and install it ourselves so they wouldn't have to deal with it; so we asked them to deduct that from the final price. We ended up speaking with the owner about it and needless to say he was not very happy. He mentioned the backsplash ordeal and that he had eaten that cost and basically implied that we should just accept the damaged door and call it even. We thought it would be cost effective for them by doing it ourselves so that is why we offered what we did. He finally agreed and we cut them the final check. We were still expecting the final clean that next Monday however no one showed up, no one called, and we had to contact them. On Wednesday we were told it would be Friday which came and went and we still have not heard from anyone and we have not received a return call/text. It's disappointing that we had such a great experience until the end. We ended up having to do the final clean ourselves and we can't help but have the perception that the cleaning was withheld due to our last conversation about the final bill.

From the initial consultation to the final installation, everyone we worked with was professional, prompt, and of the highest quality. The interior designer made a visit to our home to see where the built-in was going to be, the finishes and textures in the surrounding rooms, and provided ideas to make the final product look like it has always been there. We have a new construction home and it was important to us that the finished product look like it was there when the house was constructed. Honestly, it looks better than what the builder might have offered! Price was as expected, and the quality exceeds the price. I would not hesitate to recommend to a friend.

The basement remodel went very well. It started with Jared coming the house and discussing our needs and ideas for the basement. As promised, he provided a detailed estimate for the work. After receiving multiple bids, we opted to go with CMH as they offered the best value and quality of service. The project started on schedule and was completed in seven weeks. The CMH workers thoroughly cleaned up the work area every evening before they left for the day, and were careful to minimize dust infiltrating the rest of the house during the working hours. The CMH designer provided excellent advice in helping us decide on the finishes for the basement, including granite for the kitchen, tiles (bathroom shower and floor, kitchen floor and walkout entry area), and kitchen fixtures and cabinets, We were kept fully informed on the progress of the work and planned next steps by Joel, our Project Manager. At the end of the build, Joel was meticulous in helping us work up the final punch list for minor fixes, primarily for painting touch-ups, and carpet. He ensured that all of the punch list items were addressed. Overall, the basement remodel was a success and fully met our expectations.
Description of Work: Finished a walkout basement to give 1,400 square feet of finished living space and 600 square feet for a workroom. Removed a door and walls at the top of the stairs to create an open and inviting entry to the basement. Installed wooden and iron railings to the basement along the stairs and along a cut-out that provide an open feeling the the basement entry. Put in a full bath, kitchen with sink and peninsula, and finished the rest of the basement creating a large family room open to the game room and play area.

contacted Cmh for an estimate on a basement remodel. Worked with Brandon to get a price to compare with other companies. In the end, we did go with another company, but only because of a timing issue. Brandon, at Cmh, was very professional and kind. I asked him if he could hurry up a bid for me and even though he was currently working on other projects, he responded with a bid as fast as he could. Brandon, was easy to talk to and provided a phenomenal 3D drawing/design of what we were trying to accomplish with our basement. He also was very competitive, if not on the lower end on pricing. I will, definitely think about Brandon and Cmh for future projects. They must be good because they were booked out a little longer( although reasonable) than we needed for our situation. Even when I had to tell Brandon we were going a different way, he was very understanding and professional. No work was done but if the quality of work is similar to their sales rep than this is seemingly a good company!

Thank you for your kind words about our company and our project consultant.
The crew at CMH were very responsive throughout the process. They were very professional and carried out the work well. We had custom cabinets installed with laminate and quartz countertops, and we are very pleased with the results. The only snag we encountered a delay of 2-3 weeks because of the laminate countertops. The project started in December, and the manufacturer was offering a certain type of laminate (which we selected), but in January they discontinued the product. Because this happened around the holidays, we weren't notified until January, so we had to reorder, which caused a delay. But that was an issue with the manufacturer -- CMH kept us up to date and later helped with appliance install, which was not originally in the plan. If I was doing it again, I wouldn't start this project around the holidays - but I would definitely use CMH. Megan was especially helpful in the design of the project, and others were all friendly and professional. I would recommend them and I expect I will use them for a basement rework in the future.

CMH Builders were fabulous to work with from the very beginning. They were always on time, respectful, and paid attention to the details even more than we did! Their quote in the beginning was honest, fair, and reasonable for fully finishing so much square footage. There were no hidden cost, and the final price was exactly what we expected. They were very helpful in the design process, and listened to our vision and were able to help put that into the design. They were happy to modify things in the design, and did a great job helping us take our ideas and make them reality. Of course, there were a few glitches along the way, but we were never worried about this because we trusted that they would work above and beyond to make it right. They worked very hard to finish this project on time, especially as this was to be finished the week before Christmas! Permits were obtained, and all work was done to code and passed inspection, which is a great peace of mind for a homeowner. All the workers were kind, respected our home, introduced themselves and their plan for the day, and cleaned up the job site and my entryway at the end of the day. We would definitely recommend this company to others, and will definitely be our first "go to" for future projects.

CMH was professional from start to finish. They kept all appointments and followed up as promised. They made me feel confident that everything would be done right be saying that all work would be permitted and inspected by the city. Many of the contractors we met with said - we will worry about that if someone reports us! Not the way I like to do business. The job went as planned and finished on time. There were a few hiccups along the way, but nothing we could not work through with the project manager who was always available by cell and on-site often. All workers were respectful to me, my family (2 toddlers), my home and my neighbors. I have no regrets about the project and would not hesitate to hire them again.

I was very pleased with the work that was done and the professionalism and politeness of the CMH employees. I told Craig Huckstep, the principal of CMH that I had wondered if his employees had been to finishing school. The work that was done was first rate and I am very pleased with the way the bathroom turned out. After the job was over I noticed a leak in the roof of the garage where the base of the shower was and emailed their project manager. He was out the next day, cut out the drywall and fixed the leak. He came back later ( a day or two later) and repaired the drywall in the ceiling. The work that was done was great and, as I said, I am well pleased. Unfortunately, there was some problems with missing personal property. The company that did the flooring in the bathroom was an independent contractor. The day they were there, there was also employees of CMH there. That day some prescription drugs came up missing. I reported that to CMH and they took it quite seriously. I could narrow it down to the four workers that were there that day, one employee and 3 independent contractors. Since I couldn't narrow it done more than that, there wasn't much that could be done. Later on, I noticed that a knife that had been a wedding present was missing from my garage. It was not an expensive knife, but it did have some sentimental value. I was able to find one just like it on eBay and I asked if they would reimburse me. It was inexpensive, i.e. less than $15.00. They said they would. When they didn't I asked it they still intended to reimburse me and they said, yes, but never did. The question would I hire CMH again is tough. Everyone that worked at my house clearly knew what they were doing, and I am happy with the result. On the other hand I am not happy with being robbed, although I would have felt differently if CMH had followed through on reimbursing me. Later: After posting this, I received a very nice email from the owner, Craig Huckstep, apologizing and explaining that he had gotten very busy and the reimbursement had fallen through the cracks. He accepted all the blame for this. I received a check shortly thereafter. Thanks!

The project was smooth and easy from start to finish. The estimate was accurate. When they came to bid the job they paid closer attention to details and to what I wanted than the other 3 vendors who bid the job. Work started on time and they finished the project ahead of schedule. I was in contact with Zach, my project manager at least weekly but really it was whenever I needed him. He responded to calls, texts, and emails promptly and communicated everything I needed to know in a clear and professional manner. Every worker who came to the house was courteous and professional. Better yet, they were craftsmen. They listened to my input, worked hard, and cared about their product. If something wasn't right, they took the time to fix it. "Good enough" was never good enough for them. I could rely on them to finish my basement as if they were finishing their own. I couldn't be happier with the result.

The builder was responsive, attentive and easy to work with when the work was going on. I even referred the builder to my friend. After a few months there were issues with plumbing in the basement. The wet bar sink was leaking and the water supply to the washer in the basement would freeze up during winter, thus we could not use the washer for decent amount of time. The builder sent his crew a couple of times to address the issue. They basically shut down the water supply to the sink and said they would get back to me after talking to their owner. I started emailing Mr.Craig Huckstep, the owner about these issues and also for the referral fee since at least Nov2014. There was hardly any response and still the issue is not fixed. So I can't use the wet bar nor the washer. I am extremely disappointed with the professionalism and the quality of work.

The issues that this customer is writing about were caused by the customer not removing hoses and a hose splitter from his exterior hose bib during the winter. This caused the inside of the hose bib to freeze and cause damage. We contacted this customer a few times offering to come back at my expense to resolve this issue and never received any communication from him. This was after we fixed the other issues and then found we were unable to fix this problem for him because he provided the wrong parts. The current issue is with a reverse osmosis system that is under the customers sink in the basement. We offered to fix this issue for him at no cost to him, as long as he ordered the correct parts that we needed. We have made 2 more trips to this home to attempt to resolve without the correct parts being on site. Not sure what else we can do to resolve this issue for this client.

The experience we had with CMH was phenomenal! We could not have asked for a better experience. Back in late 2014, we requested an estimate to have CMH finish our basement. Jared Kennard came to our home, asked us how we planned to use the basement, provided suggestions, measured it and took a look at the overall structure. He then provided very impressive renderings of the proposed work along with a detailed estimate based on the full scope of work. He included additional potential costs but did not include them in the total estimate amount as they were only potential and may not have been needed. He was very polite, professional and a pleasure to work with. We were up front about the fact that we wanted to wait until the spring to start work and he did not push us. In the spring, we returned to CMH after having obtained a few other estimates. Using the drawings Jared provided, we personally met with the owner, Craig Huckstep. He was extremely personable and helped us understand the scope of work, gave us an understanding of what we could expect regarding quality and expenses. He was also helpful in explaining what we could expect during the construction process. He was VERY clear in explaining about the amount of dust and boy was he ever RIGHT! After paying our deposit, we met with Megan to make selections. Megan was fun to work with and was very patient with our indecision. We ended up having to come back a couple of times and she was very clear each time with what our timelines were with our selections. They are very busy, so if you want work to start/end by a certain timeframe, you MUST get paperwork signed early in the year. We didn?t have a specific timeline, so the fact that work started roughly a month later was not a problem with us at all. Each of the guys that came were friendly, polite and incredibly nice. They did their best to minimize the impact of the work on the rest of the house or on our family. The guys cleaned up after themselves at the end of every day. They encouraged us to see the progress daily. The project manager, Mike Vish was AMAZING to work with! He was easy to reach and was open to talking to us about any concerns that we may have had. If he couldn?t answer any particular question, Craig was quick to get back to us as well. We opted to have a lock box on our front door to allow them to come in and go as they needed. This also allowed us to not have to be there to let them in/ out. We tried to stay out of their way as much as possible, but when the kids or even the dog went up to the guys as they came in and out, they were very gracious with them. Even our dog loved them! I cannot emphasize enough how true their warnings were about the dust from the drywall. It was EVERYWHERE! However, CMH even set up a plastic barrier to try and lessen the impact. Just be prepared for it with purifiers if your family has issues with dust. Check/change the furnace filters too and you may even want to consider getting your air ducts cleaned afterward if your family is sensitive. This is not something they or any other company can really prevent, so go in informed! The contract spelled out exactly what the costs would be and even included potential additional costs. In every construction project, there are potential changes that must be made when you start tearing into the existing areas. As stated earlier, we knew in advance and we were prepared for the eventuality. For example, we ended up having to add $650 for a sub panel, replacement insulation for the walls because our existing insulation in the basement was falling apart due to the humidity ($1,100) and adding insulation to the basement ceiling to lessen sounds between the first floor and the basement ($1,178). Each one of these costs were listed as potential and discussed with us at the time we signed the contract and before the change was made to the scope of work. The best part? They finished on the promised date! We love our basement now! CMH lived up to the Angie?s List rating we saw when we first saw them. We were very nervous about how it would turn out, to say the least. However, every single person at CMH was incredibly helpful, kind and patient. They explained everything we didn't understand and communicated everything we needed/wanted to know every step of the way. I cannot say enough how happy we are with CMH!

The company was very professional in their approach. They were very straightforward and punctual. They were also very flexible when we made changes to the project. The estimate was very reasonable. The onsite project manager was very thorough and kept us regularly informed of progress and was always available to answer queries and resolve issues. They also took care of any inspections and adhered to code. The work done was of a very high quality and we are very happy to have hired CMH to finish our basement.

We would like to thank this Angie's List Member for allowing us to work in their home and help them with this project. Please contact CMH Builders if you are interested in finishing your basement.
We had a wonderful experience with CMH builders. I gathered quotes from 7 companies to finish our partial basement (800 sq ft). I threw out the highest and lowest quotes. CMH and 2 others were all within 1-2K of each other but we chose CMH because of their quality of work and the fact that all their workers were CMH employees. If I remember correctly, from the time we signed the contract to the time work began, it was somewhere between 4-6 weeks. CMH was even able to start a week earlier than planned but we declined because of friends visiting. They estimated 6 weeks for the project to be completed. The project went a few days over expected but only because the electrician got sick and the carpet scheduling took a few days. We weren't in any hurry so we didn't mind the delay. Workers came to the house 4-5 days a week, on average about 5-6 hours a day. Our project was a pretty simple "finish" and some companies did quote 4 weeks which I'm sure would be possible if it were 8 hrs/day 5 days/week. However, we knew this ahead of time and didn't mind the 6 week timeline. I was home 99% of the time that the workers were here. Without exception, they were all professional, polite, and clean. I did not have any concerns with them in my home. I felt very safe. I also appreciated that our project manager (Zach) or the workers, would tell me when they would be arriving each day. Zach was a great project manager to have. He kept us informed of the progress and plan every 2-3 days. He was easy to get a hold of when I had questions. All the workers did a great job and I felt like they gave 100% while they were here. They would rarely take breaks. John, the electrician, did a great job, especially as I had a fair amount of electrical specifications that I wanted done in the basement. Mike, the painter, was absolutely fabulous. Best painter we have ever had. His work looks perfect and many people have commented on how good the painting looks. Megan, the designer, was kind and professional but we didn't utilize her as much as others may need to. I already had the basement planned out how I wanted and had my paint colors and carpet picked out. We went with the standard Shaw level 3 carpet and it is so much better than I was expecting. No need to upgrade. The carpet is super soft and plush. The carpet guys (not CMH employees) were great. They worked incredibly hard and long to get the job done in one day. I can't see any carpet seams. Our basement looks amazing and we are completely thrilled with the results. Everyone that sees it loves it. The stairwell had drywall existing but we had CMH cut down one wall in the stairwell to make a half wall. Really opens it up and gets rid of the tunnel feeling. The rest of the area is a circle layout surrounding the stairs and we kept it all open. One area is a "theater" room with a projector/wall screen, pendant light fixture, and 2 wall sconces. The other areas are play areas/homeschool areas. We had CMH cut out a miniature door frame and install a dutch door for the kids to have a playhouse under the stairs. That is their favorite part!! We left a relatively large area in the basement unfinished next to the crawl space so that we have plenty of extra room for storage. Leading to that area, we had double doors installed (makes it easier to move in/out big boxes). We love the layout and it's very functional for us at this time. We considered the idea of a bedroom but since we don't need one we didn't go that route. However, in case we wanted to do it in the future, we had CMH put a smoke detector in the area that would become a bedroom and those lights are on their own switch. Zach was great helping me think through all those details so it's not a headache in the future. We felt like the price was fair. The quality of the work was exceptional so we were happy to pay the price since we don't have those skills. We paid pretty much what was originally estimated. I overlooked the fact that a new sump pump wasn't on our original estimate so that was my own fault. Plus, I added a few touches (new hand rail in stairs, etc). But other than that, we paid what we were expecting to pay - no big surprises thankfully. We will continue to recommend them to family and friends. We also hope to use them in the future when we renovate a bathroom. Exceptional work from start to finish.

CMH Builders refinished my basement from scratch several years ago, and they did such a great job that I wanted to use them again. Like before, Jared was super quick to respond to my request. He scheduled a visit within the week, and had the initial plans drawn up a few days later. After some discussions, he revised the plans and turned them around right away. Their quote was the first one I received, and it was very competitive. It was a tough decision, but given that the investment in a kitchen remodel is thousands of dollars, I felt that I needed to get a few bids. Although CMH wasn't awarded this job, I am confident that they would have provided excellent service and a beautiful new kitchen. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Jared measured for a complete kitchen remodel, then he prepared 3-D renderings to show the new cabinets, appliances, and layout. Finally, he prepared a detailed quote of the cost of the construction.

Jared obtained all our space needs in the basement upfront and provided a great initial design. He was very patient with several changes during the design phase of the project. He also provided suggestions so that we could get the best layout for each purpose/usage (i.e. gym, game room, theater, wet bar, pool area, etc.) Craig, the owner, was involved upfront and was in touch several times throughout the project to ensure it was going well. Megan is a fantastic designer. She listened to what we liked and helped bring all the design elements together. The end product exceeded our expectations. Zach was our construction project manager. He was very professional and ensured the construction was on schedule and helped resolve issues quickly. The construction crew was very professional and their quality of work is excellent. In addition they cleaned up at the end of each day. If you want a well designed basement with high quality, this is the company to select!

I learned about CMH builders through angies list and I decided to include them among three other builders on my complete basement finish project. From the very beginning they were very professional and were quick to follow up on my emails. Brandon, the lead designer, came to the house and we went through what I wanted done and he came back with a very detailed design a few days later. There were some things I wanted changed so we went back and forth over the design over a course of a couple of days until we had a final vision for what I wanted. I took a half day off work and stopped in at their design studio and we went through all the fine level details that allowed Brandon to come up with a very granular quote for the whole project. I decided to do the finish work myself (It is winter and I need something to do), but still leave the bulk of the work to CMH, so we subtracted some items and came up with the final contract price of the whole project ended up being in-line for what I expected. I've seen other reviewers complain about their price, but to be honest you really do get what you pay for. This is not a bunch of fly-by night guys nor do they sub everything out to subs. Everyone on the team is a CMH employee and you can tell they care about the finished product. Also, all of the trades were very knowledge and in incorporated my desires into what they were doing. I had a PM assigned to my project and he was very communicative about what was going on each day and always answered my calls. When I had issues with some minor details he ensured they were corrected to my satisfaction. Also, when I waivered on choices he was very knowledgeable on offering sound advice. As far as construction process goes when they came to the house they set out drop clothes to try and contain material making its way into the living area. That worked great until we hit the drywall phase and dust was unavoidable. Not there their fault, it is part of the process, but at least they were not in the basement sanding with the door open. Everything was going ahead of schedule until we hit an issue with the wrong cabinets being ordered for the basement bar area. The original plan called for 36 long cabinets were in the first cut, but 42 made it into the final cut. I don't remember changing it, but I signed off on the final selections. In the end we split the costs and this ended up pushing the final completion out by a month. Overall I am pleased with how it turned out and I would recommend them again. I just would caution anyone on here to finalize things down to a very granular level. You are signing a contract: Nothing more nothing less.

CMH Builders was great to work with starting with Megan Watson who was a major help in making design choices. The hall bathroom is small with no exterior window. She was able to offer a variety of options from faucet selections to lighting and paint color. Megan went out of her way to find a granite slab that would work for our small vanity. The custom built cabinet option was a cheaper option than the builder grade vanity. Mike was great to have as the project lead. The crew were respectful of our house and left it cleaner than they found it each day! They did a professional job with all the details both large and small. Would we recommend them? Absolutely. We'd like to use them again as soon as we get the finances calculated. Our master bathroom could use a major overhaul!

My home builder uses CMH Builders to complete general repairs on homes approximately one year after move in. Since the home builder incurs the cost directly I do not know how much CMH charges for these services. CMH typically handles general items homeowners have on their list one year after purchasing a new build home. Examples include drywall touch-up, door alignment, trim replacement, etc. The builder uses other trades as needed (plumbing, HVAC, etc.) due to the warranty relationships the builder has with those vendors. The bulk of our items concerned numerous drywall items from settling and poor quality initial construction. Quality of work was good for some team members and shoddy for others. Correcting drywall issues is a bit of an art form and it was obvious which person on the CMH crew had the experience in talent in this area. Some drywall corrections looked worse after CMH worked on the area, especially those near ceilings. Other items: -- CMH was unable to permanently fix a bedroom door that would not close. -- Crew member used drywall joint compound to repair a crack in a wood door...said he doesn't use wood putty for such fixes. -- Their drywall work created a massive amount of dust and they did not take any precaution to limit the intrusion of dust into others areas. Nor did they clean up. My children were "writing" on the dusty furniture after CMH left. So glad our family made sure to have the house really clean so they could come in an mess up the place. To top it off one crew person was rude and obnoxious to my family, making snarky remarks if we dared ask questions or suggest a different approach to resolving an issue (example -- Homeowner asks to have a shower door sweep replaced and installed correctly...CMH wanted to "use a little caulk"). He seemed more focused on getting done and on to the next appointment. His lack of respect resulted in an immediate call to our home builder to say this guy was no longer welcome in our home. Fortunately our builder was able to find another company to finish the work CMH was unable to finish...with better quality and a much better attitude.

Response from CMH Builders Inc
This Member’s characterization of CMH Builders’ relationship with their home builder is mostly accurate, however their feelings about their experience are extremely atypical. As this member points out, most of the time our services are provided long after the construction of the home is completed. As the member also mentions, due to the nature of warranty service, we only arrive when something is already wrong. While we firmly believe in the quality of construction provided by this builder, our role is to repair the things that are already built. Sometimes this means walking into a situation where the customer is upset to start, as was the case with this Member. Sometimes it means that we have to cut a repair short in order to make it to the next appointment. This is usually not an issue, because another facet of warranty work is that we often need to make multiple trips anyway in order to properly complete the required repairs—especially in the case of ceiling repairs due to texture. In the case of this Member, we had seven services at their house between March 22, 2013 and June 24, 2014, six without incident. The final service trip was cut short by the Member, therefore areas that appeared substandard were because we were not permitted to finish the repairs. None of these issues apply to directly contracted CMH customers. There is no third party authorizing the scope of work and CMH is entirely responsible for all aspects of the contract. All drywall work creates dust. We work very hard to mitigate it as much as possible, and we always clean up at the end of the day—except in this case we were asked to leave the house immediately. Please see our other reviews to see how strong our reputation for jobsite cleanliness is. It is clear that this Member had extraordinary expectations for the nature of the repairs considering that they “made sure to have the house really clean” before our arrival. One of the services we provide to our directly contracted customers is a preconstruction meeting with the project manager to explain these types of issues before the project begins. This builder does not use wood doors. Their doors are a composite wood product that are veneered and painted white. Drywall compound is used to completely fill any cracks in order to provide a smooth, paintable surface. As with the caulking (actually 100% silicone) of a leaky shower door, we are ultimately responsible to the homebuilder for making corrective repairs that are effective, efficient, and within the limits of their warranty. Sometimes the solution itself is different than what the customer prefers, but the end result is always to their satisfaction. With our directly contracted customers, the absence of a third party allows us more flexibility in special requests for certain techniques. We have a dedicated and professional crew who provide service to this builder year-round. Their expertise is what makes them valuable to us, the builder, and their customers. One of our specialties is explaining the repair process and reasons for what we are doing in their homes to make them feel more comfortable. This Member had a warranty issue with pipes concealed in a ceiling, and during the conversation explaining how we were going to find the pipes our employee mentioned that “even the architect wouldn’t know exactly where they are” due to the fact that the original plumbers would have chosen their own path based on site conditions. This Member works with architects in some capacity and perceived this as an insult about her not being an architect. While we never wish to upset any customers, and indeed strive to exceed each customer’s expectations, there are some expectations that are unattainable—multiple other subcontractors are also no longer welcome in this Member’s home. The longer-term relationship with our directly contracted customers allows for miscommunications of this type to be cleared up. Each project also has a dedicated project manager to help with communication between customers and field staff. Our relationship with this builder accounts for less than ten percent of our business by revenue, but due to the volume of service work it accounts for the vast majority of our customer interactions. Unfortunately this means that a small number of the customers we meet will be unhappy. We routinely receive praise and positive feedback from this builder’s customers, and are regularly requested by their customers when they need further warranty work. We also have a steady stream of the builder’s customers sign contracts directly with CMH Builders for improving their home. We believe that this speaks for itself. Additional Points directly from the Home Builder: CMH was not contracted by this homeowner. The scope of work was determined by builder not member. This member was not paying for CMH services. CMH acted at the direction and will of builder supplying skilled labor only. Management and expectation setting was not provided by CMH.

This company was wonderful to work with. From Craig, the owner, to Mike, our painter and all the crew in between that we came in contact with were personable and professional with great skill and talent in their area of expertise. They all were willing to work with us and listen to what we wanted and envisioned. We already had carpeting and wanted to preserve it to cut down on costs. They were more than willing to make that happen. Their attention to detail brought the room alive and they matched the trim and doors to the rest of the house. During the construction process, they were respectful of the rest of the house and cleaned up after themselves everyday so that dust was kept to a minimum. Our project managers, Jeremy and Caleb, kept us fully informed at each stage of the five week process. They started on time and completed the project within the time frame they stated. We had several bids for this job and there was a 10,000 range in price. CMH was in the middle but their response and interest is what gained our trust. We are pleased with the final result and give them our highest recommendation.
Description of Work: Totally remodeled our basement.
We originally had CMH out for a quote last year to get an idea of what it would cost to finish our basement. Jared was the sales rep that came out. He had some good ideas originally and thought it would be a pretty easy job. When we were ready to get serious about finishing our basement, Jared revisited the same quote, and adjusted it to 2014 material costs and it actually came back more favorable in 2014 vs. 2013. Overall, we had 6 contractors come out to the house for quotes - all A-rated providers according to Angie's List. 2 contractors didn't even get back to me with a quote. For most, it felt like the job was too small for them and they priced us out of even considering. CMH was BY FAR the most competitively priced. In one instance, CMH was 50% cheaper than another A-listed provider. We felt really good about moving forward with them by their responsiveness, working with Jared and the fact that finishing basements is their core competency - it sounded like they do 40-50 new basements per year, almost starting 1 per week! We went to the CMH location to sign the contract. The owner, Craig was very helpful and great to work with. We met with Stephanie afterwards to pick out our finishes in their design studio. She had some great ideas and answered all of our questions with great knowledge. Mike was our project manager, and was EXTREMELY helpful. He was always available via text or phone. I even received responses over the weekend. We made a few small adjustments during the project (i.e. location of outlets and switches, adding dimmers, etc.) and Mike made them happen without questions. He made sure we were aware of who was coming over to the house to do what work, and when they would arrive and leave. Mike was awesome! At one point, our basement flooded prior to installing the backup sump pump while we were on vacation. CMH handled everything while we were gone and made sure the water heater and furnace were still working properly. Their plumber made sure the damaged pipe was replaced and that the water was pumped out properly. They brought over large industrial blowers to make the drying process go by faster. The ONLY negative of the project was the length. Originally, it was quoted for 4-6 weeks. The flooding held us back a few days and there were a few delays with material delivery, but there were multiple days of no work. It wasn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but we were just so excited to have the extra space finished for our family to use. At the end of the project, Craig made a visit himself for the final walkthrough and Mike still lets me text him if we need anything. At the end of the day, I would HIGHLY recommend CMH for ANY remodeling job.

CMH Builders were very professional and informative. However, the estimate was quite a bit higher than we wanted to spend.
Description of Work: CMH came to our house and gave us an estimate to finish our basement.
Overall, I have mixed feelings. Their finished product looks great for my rental house. However, because of a few big mistakes on their part during the process, and an overall sense that their timeline of getting the job done could have been much more streamlined and efficient, , I don't think they showed me that they are an "A" type rated builder / remodeler. The project stretched, from start to finish, a tired 10 weeks, plus or minus several days, when I felt it could have been done in 3 weeks less time. I was given reasons near the end , that stretched the time on and on, that were obvious to me that they were 'buying time". The mistakes I mentioned were the following : 1. I had them re-do the kitchen backsplash with 4"in square ceramic tile, in a certain pattern that I had laid out with the designer at their showroom. weeks after that decision had been made, I showed up to see that the completed backsplash was an entirely different pattern than what I had chosen. So I was disappointed that this did not get communicated properly from the designer to the installer. However, they did fix and redo it according to the original specs, costing some time as a job delay. 2. they forgot to put in insulation in an interior partition wall in the basement, that separated a bedroom from the utility closet (w/d), which I had requested for sound proofing. When the job was finally over, I didn't have the energy to even follow up on that one, since I was living overseas. There was also some theft on the job sight during the process, I believe some bathroom hardware and some other costly items, probably $150 or more. It's hard to say who this could have been, there was another contractor there at times, but the majority of the time, it was the CMH guys. Again, in the end , their finished work looks good, and I am happy with that. Do I feel that I overpaid for the service and value I received ? yes.
Description of Work: Remodeled my basement, (which included demo work, repartitioning, new doors / frames, etc. ) did some minor upgrades in the Kitchen / bath areas (new floors, cosmetic installations), some other structural repair issues in the house, such as sagging ceilings and floor issues, installed trim and molding details,

We regret to hear that this Member has such mixed feelings about the project, but are happy to hear how pleased the Member is with the final product. Our other reviews show that most Members who have completed a project with us do feel that we are an “A” rated builder. This project took longer than expected, due in part to delays related to this Member living overseas as well as on our part. The project was initially estimated in the contract as 5 – 7 weeks. While delays are something that we try to avoid of course, when they do occur our practice is to make the end result excellent rather than sloppily rush to complete the job “on time” like a stereotypical contractor. The backsplash tile was initially installed incorrectly due to internal miscommunication, and this caused some of the delay this Member mentioned. However we’d like to point to the fact that this was corrected as soon as possible with the only cost to the member the frustration of delay. As the Member states, the missing insulation was only mentioned to us in this review. We were and are in fact still willing to correct this small oversight if the Member wishes. Our warranty is critical to our reputation and we are always eager to correct any problems our customers have. The suggestion that theft was committed by any of our employees on this job is completely surprising. This Member mentioned that some bath hardware was missing, but during the project it was presented as a question of being misplaced rather than stolen. During projects of this scope and size things can get misplaced or accidentally thrown away; on the rare occasions when this happens we are happy to take responsibility and replace the items for the project. There were at least two other contractors on site as mentioned by the Member, but it is likely that they are innocent of theft as well. We take our customers’ trust in us very seriously, and would immediately respond to any theft allegation to satisfy their suspicions. It is unfortunate that this Member so hastily made the leap from “missing” to “stolen”, and we trust that Members reading this review will understand the incredible nature of that assumption. Overall, this project had a few issues that caused delays, but the end result of the project even according to this Member “looks great”. We hope other Members considering CMH Builders for their project understand that slight delays sometimes happen but great looking finished projects ALWAYS happen with CMH Builders.

Based on this and other reviews, this provider is very selective about the projects they will accept. While I can appreciate that this provider has an estabshed business model that works for the provider, I would be unlikely to select them for a major project without a relationship. I do appreciate the referral, however.

We certainly understand this Member’s viewpoint, and regret any frustration caused. We offered a referral in the hopes that we could be of service to this Member even in declining their project. We choose to decline small projects only in order to focus all of our energy and productivity on full scale remodels to better serve our major project customers. While we realize that some Members will use a small project to judge a remodeler before employing them in a larger project, most of our customers rely on their fellow Members’ excellent reviews of CMH Builders.

We had a terrific experience! We called many providers to seek out bids for our project, we chose CMH because of their price, references and Angie's list ratings. They are phenomenal. We had a complete finish of our basement from essentially scratch. They were very professional. The sales and design team were great as they are very creative with their ideas and thoughts. A very thorough design process that lays out everything we wanted and a timeframe for them. The job started in a timely fashion. The production team and the project manager are top notch. They were very courteous, polite and thorough and always left the work area in clean, safe shape after a days work. The craftsmanship was beautiful. We have a beautiful bar, TV room, full bath and an exercise room. Communication between the project manager, workers and myself was just wonderful...I always felt in the loop and was well informed! We could not be happier with our new basement and the choice we made to go with CMH. The job took some time, but well worth the wait...it was a big project!

There was nothing I didn’t like. They were professional and courteous. They did a good job as far as the construction. They were very organized and had a good project management plan. It was all-around a good experience. They were just as good pricewise if not lower than anybody else we checked. We would certainly use them again in the future.
