 + -1 moreTHE OWNER TOOK THE CLOCK APART BEFORE US, DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM, GAVE US A GREAT DEAL OF INFORMATION ABOUT OUR CLOCK AND THE MAKER AND GAVE US AN ESTIMATE. SINCE THE REPAIRS COST MORE THAN THE MECHANICAL CLOCK IS WORTH, WE OPTED NOT TO HAVE IT FIXED AT THIS TIME. WE ARE HOWEVER GOING BACK TO PURCHASE A NEW CLOCK ONCE MY HUSBAND AND I AGREE ON A STYLE. THEY HAVE A VERY LARGE SELECTION OF CLOCKS, INCLUDING HOWARD MILLER. THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE OWNER AND HIS DESIRE TO HELP US MAKE A SOUND DECISION ABOUT OUR CLOCK HAS EARNED OUR TRUST AND LOYALTY.

 + -1 moreTHE PRICE SEEMED HIGH BUT I HAD NOTHING TO WHICH TO COMPARE IT, PLUS IT APPARENTLY INVOLVED SOME VERY INTENSIVE LABOR SUCH AS MACHINING SMALL PARTS THAT ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE COMMERCIALLY. HE ALSO TOOK A VERY LONG TIME TO DO THE WORK--HE PICKED UP THE MOVEMENT ON JANUARY 30 AND BROUGHT IT BACK AND REINSTALLED IT IN THE CASE ON JULY 10. THIS ALSO SEEMED EXCESSIVE EXCEPT THAT HE APPARENTLY HAS LOTS OF WORK (A GOOD SIGN) AND OUR JOB HAD TO WAIT ITS TURN. ALSO, ONCE HE COMPLETES HIS WORK HE RUNS THE CLOCK IN THE SHOP FOR SEVERAL WEEKS TO MAKE SURE IT'S PERFORMING PROPERLY. SO ALL IN ALL, I GUESS THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE CONSIDERING THE LABOR INVOLVED AND THE CONDITION OF THE MOVEMENT. WORK QUALITY APPEARS OKAY, BUT THERE'S REALLY NO WAY TO TELL BECAUSE THE PARTS ARE SO SMALL. THE CLOCK SEEMS TO WORK FINE.
