Citadel tradesmen appeared unannounced. Citadel tradesmen installed roof drainage system which caused basement flooding. Citadel ordered replacement doors 2 inches too short to fit in existing doorframes and then refused to re-order correct doors and demanded that the existing door frames be modified to fit incorrectly ordered doors. Citadel refused to remove garage roof eyebrow which Citadel owner verbally agreed to remove. After all this, Citadel was fired from the job owing an $800 refund which they still have not paid. Court action will be required to get this refund. I would forewarn anyone not to do business with this company.
Description of Work: Citadel was hired to repair April 2013 hailstorm damage. Repairs were to be made to roof, siding, and exterior doors.

There was a mistake made and the roofing crew showed up to do the roof a day earlier than expected. The job is done 100% on the exterior, so it really was not a huge issue. We did not install a roof drainage system that caused basement flooding. The customer has an small roof eyebrow located above the garage that due to lack of maintenance had pulled away from the house on one end. Since gutters were part of the scope of work, gutters were placed on this eyebrow in the only manner possible. Due to the fact it was pulled away, the water was draining to the one end and overflowing the gutter. We did install a gutter extension at our expense to alleviate this problem; but in no way was responsible for the problem nor the resulting water that was going into the basement. As for the doors, we had made direct contact with the company that originally installed the doors so that we could order exactly what had been installed the first time. We were given faulty information, and the custom doors came in 2 inches shorter than what had gone in originally. Our installer pointed out that the original doors were actually improperly installed into poor headers, and that the doors that came in would be better suited for the openings. Despite multiple opinions of carpentry professionals, the homeowner refused to allow us to install the doors. The doors were not returnable to the manufacturer and we have had to eat the $6600 cost of the doors. I had agree to remove the eyebrow above the garage for the customer free of charge. When the customer had become so verbally abusive and difficult to deal with I decided it was best that we not perform any more work for the customer, especially not work for free. We will process a refund of the $709.61 owed to the customer without any unnecessary court action.

We were very satisfied with the work that was completed. They had several crews working on the home and kept us up to date on the progress. There was a minor issue with the roof. We had a issue getting in touch with someone to resolve the problem. After the owner was made aware of the problem he has bent over backwards to resolve the issue.

Everything went great. The project from start to finish took a longer time than we had hoped for, but that was due to an vendors not our contractor. The work was outstanding, and we could not be happier with the finished product(worth the wait!!) Shane LaMantia went above and beyond our expectations and was always very helpful, extremely professional and and great to work with! I am a Realtor, and I would feel 100% confident in referring his company to any of my clients!
Description of Work: We had all of our old siding removed and replaced with CertainTeed fiber cement siding, all windows replaced and all gutters replaced with new- whole house painted on the exterior.

I had hail storm damage back in April. I hired Veteran Construction to do my job. After that blew up i was put in contact with Citadel Exteriors they were able to do my job for what I had left from the insurance company along with my deductable. Shane LaMantia, owner, worked with me during the whole process. He had four different crews come out during the process: roofing, gutters siding and painters. All of them were professional and I can not be any happier. It is like I have a new house.
Description of Work: I had a new roof, gutters and siding put on my house.

I saw problems from the very beginning of the project. I reached out to Shane, and had trouble getting him out to take a look at the poor workmanship. I also reached out to the subcontractors, and they were non responsive to my requests as well. On the north and south side of my house, it could tell that the lapping of the siding was going the wrong way. When I approached Shane about it, he did not want to fix it, and told me that it was done correctly. Finally after much negotiating, he sent his guys back out to fix it for me. Today, there are still small things that are still not done correctly, including the siding around a spicket and the dryer vent. When I reached out to them, they did not want to redo the work, because it would require pulling taking all the siding off the house in that area. They could have fixed it from the beginning, before they even put the siding on. I have paid Citadel in full, and am not satisfied at all with the condition that the siding has been left in. It seems as though Citadel Exteriors have wiped their hands clean of my project, and do not want to put any more work into it. I would not recommend Citadel Exteriors to anyone.

Response from Citadel Exteriors LLC
We are willing to acknowledge that there were issues with this project. However, there was not an issue with our response to those issues nor the finished quality of the job. Upon hearing of the customer’s concerns, I made it a point to immediately go personally to the job site and investigate what was going on. I walked the project with Mr. Corson and we compiled a very detailed list of items that needed attention. I then sent a different crew out to address each, and every item on the list. The siding on the south end did get re-hung properly. The spigot does remain an issue – because when the house was built, there was not an abundance of extra plumbing sticking out beyond the wall to allow for both the siding, and the trim box to be mounted. The only solutions are to have it extended by a plumber – which is well beyond our contracted scope of work; or for the trim box to be removed entirely – which Mr. Corson will not allow. We have installed an extension to the end of the spigot which allows for use of the spigot, but causes the trim box to pull away from the house maybe 1/8” more than normal. The solution is neither a function or aesthetic issue at this point. The dryer vent is located in a place on the house (the foundation) that is highly unusual. Mr. Corson had a make-shift solution in place before the project began. Admittedly, our installers were not sure what to do with it. Mr. Corson advised us to just put it back the way that it was – which we did. Because I felt the spigot, nor the dryer vent got a truly desired resolution by the customer, I offered to discount the final bill by $300 – which Mr. Corson accepted and considered the work complete. Finally, I am no longer utilizing the crew that did the initial work on this project, nor will they ever perform any work for us in the future. While there were challenges with this project, we did respond, did communicate and brought the finished project beyond acceptable standards of quality. We are committed to a high level of workmanship and quality, and I strongly feel that we have met those standards in this case, admitted our faults, and compensated the customer for the inconvenience.

From beginning to end, everything was smooth while working with Shane at Citadel. They were very prompt on returning calls and emails. They went above and beyond, even explaining how things work with the insurance side of things. The guys who did the work were professional and left the yard clean and free of any debris (which was important to me). I would definitely use them again and have referred them to friends and work associates already.

I could not of expected more. Citadel gets the highest rating. The best quality at a reasonable cost. His experience shows. From the beginning he inspected the damage and then met with our insurance adjuster to make sure we covered all the damage. He took all the worries of a severely Hail damaged home off my shoulders The contractor arranged for all contractors and explained thoroughly what the cost would be while at the same time staying within our budget. First was the replacement of the chimney and other masonry. The match was perfect and the service was exceptional with the area left clean as if no one was there. Shortly after a roofing crew was brought in and replaced the roof of both house and a storage unit in one day also leaving the area spotless Periodically the Contractor stopped by to assure the workmanship and quality. The painting crew came by the next day and painted those areas that would not be covered by the siding. They returned in a couple of days to repair the deck and pressure wash the surface. The gutters and downspouts were replaced as well New siding on our home and new garage doors. Some miscellaneous was done and then Window replacement. Upon completion we felt like we had a new home. I would recommend them highly.

Excellent experience! On the day of the installation, the sales rep was there all day to be sure all went well. The work crew was either on the roof putting down shingles, or were walking around the perimeter of the house picking up debris. The only time they sat down was to take their lunch break. Start to finish in one day. They took care to protect my wife's flower beds and to pick up any stray pieces that might have fallen into the garden. The clean up was through. The owner stopped by the next day to ask if we were pleased. We assured him we were indeed. Prior to delivery we were informed by the company exactly where our shingle order was and when it would be delivered. Open communications far exceeded most of our other experiences! They worked within the confines of our insurance coverage and still delivered quality work and materials.
