I am writing this review so that no one has to go through what was easily the worst experience I?ve ever had with anyone working on my home. I definitely DO NOT recommend Jeff Cranor from Circle Satellite. I have never left a review for any company who has come to my home, but I feel like it?s my duty to let everyone know he is the most unprofessional, unprepared, and rudest service person I?ve ever had to deal with. I contacted him to do a simple swap out of the LNBF on my satellite dish (located on the roof) for my elderly father. I included measurements and pictures. He said that he could come out on a certain date and time (he was late), that it wouldn?t be a problem, and gave me his rates and how long it would take. Not only did it take him over 3 hours to do it (way above his estimate), he had me HOLD THE LADDER for him the entire time he was up there! I was astonished?when I called him, I specifically told him I was hiring an actual company to do this (read: him) so that they would have all the necessary materials and I wouldn?t have to deal with holding a ladder like I had to do for the guy who cleaned my gutters. He didn?t even finish the work I hired him for. Shortly after he left, the satellite stopped working. I called/texted/emailed him and he gave me a couple suggestions on what to do to fix it, none of which worked, and said he?d come back out to check it out. As long as he was willing to back his work and come fix it, that was fine with me. Well, he never came. I gave him 2-3 months in case he was busy, so he had more than enough time. The last response I got from him is this: ?You the guy who brought the hatchet outside? Probably why I didn't return.? This is simply absurd and evidence that he was grasping at straws for any excuse to not come back and fix his mistake. For the sake of transparency I?ll explain why he even mentioned a ?hatchet?. After about an hour of holding the ladder for him, I saw that UPS came and dropped off a package. I told him that I couldn?t hold the ladder for him so that I could go sign for my package and that I was excited about an expensive axe I had purchased and asked if he wanted to see it. He responded in the affirmative. So, I showed him my sheathed axe, that I had just received, that he told me he wanted to see, in an attempt to be cordial. There was nothing to indicate he was scared in any way, shape, or form. He held it and commented on how nice it was and we both laughed about how a person like me living in the suburbs has no real use for an axe. None of the text messages or emails I have stating that he will come back and fix the incorrect installation, or the fact that he had me hold a ladder for him for another hour afterwards (which implies trust and was incredibly unprofessional on his part and dangerous for me) indicate any such feelings of fear. It was just totally ridiculous of him to say that. It kind of stings that he would even suggest I was doing or would do anything inappropriate?my mother and I were nothing but nice and accommodating to him. For heaven?s sake, if I 'intimidated" him so much why did he trust me enough to have me hold a ladder he was standing on for over two hours!? What started out as a simple LNBF swap so that my elderly father could watch his satellite turned into the worst experience I?ve had with a service person in my home. I?ve never met an installer more inept, unprepared, or unprofessional. Our satellite is worse off than when he came. He told me his ?company? was insured but I sincerely doubt that. If you?re looking for a person to take advantage of your old parents, then by all means, call Jeff Cranor from Circle Satellite. If you want someone who will leave your property in worse condition than when he came, call Jeff Cranor from Circle Satellite. If you want a person who will scam you, call Jeff Cranor from Circle Satellite. In response to my criticism of his (lack of) service, he called me a Muslim (which I?m not) and told me I tried intimidating him with an axe, which is patently false. He was awfully happy to accept my money, though--and charged me almost double the going rate he has listed. Make of that what you will. I understand that he installs security systems. Does this sound like a person you can trust with your safety?

I first called Jeff on a Friday and he accommodated our schedule by coming two days later on Sunday afternoon which was a huge help since the walls and ceiling were going to be dry-walled the following week. Great service. Thanks!!
Description of Work: We are doing some remodeling in our basement; turning two storage rooms into a media room and a workout room. Jeff repurposed an unused cable wire leading out from the splitter for the media room and ran a new cable for the workout room.

Kept losing picture on satellite. Called direct TV and they could send someone out for a fee, but I wanted to hire my own since I have had their guys out before. Called Circle Satellite and Jeff Cranor came out same day, actually 5 minutes before his due time.He discovered our satellite dish was loose. He re-tightened and reposition arms so the dish would not be wobbly. He also removed an old dish that was above the new one. I thought it was pretty hard to get to but he was successful. He was also concerned about not getting dirt on our floor and rug. We have had a couple storms and high winds since, but we have not lost picture.
Description of Work: Tweaked our satellite. Tightened and repositioned arms holding up satellite. Removed old satellite dish that was above new dish on the house chimney outside.

Our directv satellite went out during a thunderstorm on Friday night. On my third call to directv I was finally able to convince them I had done all the troubleshooting steps and really did need to schedule a service call. Although it was opening weekend of the NFL and I had paid a great deal of money for their NFL package I was told a repairman could not be at our house until Tuesday sometime between 1 and 4 pm. Saturday morning I turned to Angie's list where I've been a member for several yrs and found Circle Satellite. I phoned them about 8 am and Jeff, the owner, said he had a full schedule already but he would be at our house at 4:30 that afternoon. He called about 3 pm and said he was ahead of schedule and would I mind if he came early! Jeff suspected what the problem was right away but we had trouble locating the box coming into our house. He had to crawl thru our attic and crawl space following wires until we discovered it concealed in a built in cabinet behind our 65 inch flat screen. The first place Jeff had suspected but we couldn't get to it! Jeff was prompt, patient and very thorough. It cost us a little more than it could have because we didn't know where the original directv installer had placed the box that sends the satellite out to all the other rooms. In the future I will call Jeff for directv help and am so glad I don't have to deal with the automated phone system at directv or their inconvenient policy of showing up within a 3 hour window of time.
Description of Work: Jeff repaired our directv satellite after it was struck by lightening.

If I could give him an A++ I certainly would. Jeff installed a video security system for my home. He worked non stop in 92 degree heat and the majority of his work was outside and in the attic of my home. He is knowledgeable, professional, kind and focused on customer satisfaction. We are very pleased with his service!

Jeff did a very thorough, professional job from the initial phone call to final programming the receiver. When I first called Jeff I left a voicemail and he responded the same day to set up the appointment. He showed up on time to take down the existing satellite dish. He made quick work of it and filled the empty screw holes so there would be no later leakage. Since our new home was close by he loaded the dish into his truck, took it over and immediately started working on the re-install. The roof is very steep and difficult to access so Jeff spent time to investigate alternatives, consulting me on what would be acceptable aesthetically. It was a difficult application because the dish had to be located on the opposite side of the home from where the main receiver was to be located. He found a creative solution involving using part of existing surplus wiring, routing new wiring through basement ceiling and crawlspace and drilling 3 holes through masonry. For the amount of work he had to do, the quality of his work and the hot conditions he had to do it in I think it was a real bargain.
Description of Work: Takedown, transport and re-install of a satellite dish used for foreign-language TV (free-to-air satellite). Required 1) removing the satellite off the house we were moving from; 2) transport of the dish to the new home approx 1 mile away; 3) reattaching the dish to the new home; 4) drilling and routing cable.

I called and made an appointment. Jeff was on time and professional. He identified a problem with the upgrade. The new dish contacts more satellites than the old dish so the it had to be relocated because of trees obstructing the view. Wires had to be relocated to accomodate the move. The install took about an hour and I was happy because i could watch prerecorded programs on Tivo, while he made the switch. Everything went smoothly. A week or two later there was a bad storm and I thought we were going to have to have him come out again. He talked me through a reboot on the phone and that fixed it.
Description of Work: Jeff upgraded our DirecTv satellite dish to the large HD dish.

Jeff was very professional and knowledgeable. When I called him about the problems we had after DirectTV supposedly installed our new system he came out the same day. After looking at the problem he returned on a warmer day to cement the pole which was holding the satellite dish. He correctly connected the boxes to the TVs so we had good reception and a good picture. In addition, he connected all our audio/visual equipment (lg. screen, surround sound, BluRay) so it worked properly as well and programmed the equipment so we didn't need to use all the different remotes. He was very patient when trying to figure out the other company's mistakes and then correcting them. He was punctual, knowledgeable, and honest. I highly recommend calling Jeff to remedy your satellite and your audio/visual equipment problems.
Description of Work: Repositioned, cemented in place Direct TV satellite dish which had been improperly installed by DirectTV installer, as well as connected satellite box to TV which had also been improperly installed by DirectTV installer.

I live in Indianapolis (Center Township) and have a 10-foot dish in my back yard that receives C- and KU-band reception. At both times, I called Jeff in the morning, relaying my problems. He came out the same day, arriving with parts on his truck and an outgoing and professional attitude, things that are important to me and that I appreciate. When I ask a question, I get an answer. If I still don't understand his answer, he re-words his answer until I understand it. The actuator and feed-horn were used but still good. He saved me the cost of new parts. He came into the house and checked the dish position, skew, and polarity of the various satellites after installation of the parts.
Description of Work: Jeff came out 2 different times (once in February and once in September 2008). The first time I needed an actuator (dish mover). The cost was $224.80 for the part, labor, sales tax, and trip charge. The second time I needed a feed-horn because I was not receiving all of the channels I subscribe to. The cost was $111.40.

I checked the Yellow Pages under satellite repair and saw a few listings but when I called them, the majority of them were small-dish installation and repair. I then checked Angie's List looking for A-rated large-dish service companies with reports from large-dish owners who were very happy with the service they received. I called Jeff early in the morning and he showed up at 11:30 am as he had promised. After he had diagnosed the actuator as the problem, I told him that I had a used actuator in the garage but was unsure of what shape it was in. He found that it had died too. He had a 1-year-old, identical, used, heavy-duty actuator with him. After installing it, he reprogrammed all of the satellites on the dish and updated the satellite listing on my receiver, as well as answered a lot of questions that I had.
Description of Work: Jeff diagnosed and verified why my 10-foot C/KU band satellite dish would not move. The 15-year-old, heavy-duty, and original actuator (dish mover) motor assembly died. He replaced it with a good used heavy-duty actuator that he had with him. He then reprogrammed the dish to recognize all of the satellites, removing satellites from the program that had no programming on them.

JEFF WAS PUNCTUAL AND GOT RIGHT TO WORK. WE DISCOVERED THAT MY C BAND LNB WAS BAD AND HE REPLACED IT FOR A VERY NOMINAL FEE. JEFF BRAVED A HORNETS NEST THAT WAS IN THE FEEDHORN COVER TO GET THE JOB DONE. ALL IN ALL IT TOOK TWO HOURS TO DO WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE AND I RECEIVE ALL THE SATELLITES BETTER THAN I EVER HAD BEFORE--EVEN THOSE TRICKY KU BIRDS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND JEFF FOR ALL YOUR BIG DISH NEEDS.
Description of Work: AFTER INSTALLING A NEW ACTUATOR ARM ON MY BIG SATELLITE DISH, I NEEDED SOME ASSISTANCE IN ALIGNING THE DISH SO THAT I COULD RECEIVE SATELLITE PROGRAMMING. I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN ALIGNING THE DISH MYSELF SO I CALLED JEFF FOR ASSISTANCE.
