Description of Work: Replaced sliding patio door, repaired rotted wood at threshold. They did a great job. The new door works well and they showed me the damage and the repair prior to enclosing the repair.

Description of Work: Installed a 4-season room in a former screened porch. Room is bright and sunny. Brings the outside into our home. The crew did an excellent job on the installation plus a few extras not included the original job order.

Description of Work: Champion replaced a door to the backyard that our dog had destroyed. We choose them because we felt that the door would be a better able to with stand any future dog attacks. It has done so with flying colors. |The day it was installed was very cold. The installer brought tarps and heaters to try and minimize the amount of cold air let into the house. He also brought trim that replace what the dog had destroyed.

Description of Work: The siding was improperly installed. Cuts were sloppy, no space for expansion in warm weather. There was no underlayment or house wrap under siding. They finally removed siding and reinstalled with house wrap to stop window leaks... in the process, they trampled my roof. They said they would repair. They took a shingle sample and never returned.

Description of Work: Installed an all-glass sunroom. Excellent workmanship. Had a minor leak after the 1st rain - they came the next day and fixed it,

Description of Work: We called to have three quotes regarding our garage windows to be replaced. Champion windows was more expensive, even with the coupon that I had to use towards the windows. Due to the difference of cost we chose a different company to install windows for our garage, and decided we would use the certificate that we purchased with Champion windows at another time since it didn't expire. The rep from the company was Matt McDermitt 317-579-6300, per his business card and quote package left with us. His price was $2,235.00 and the company we went with did the windows for $1,650.00 a big difference in the overall price and did a fabulous job. We were shocked to find out that the certificate was redeemed. So, I am requesting a refund back to my account for the certificate and am rather nervous about even using the company in the future after this experience.

Description of Work: Contract signed in October, 2013. Champion windows was to replace the siding on the front of my home to correct a leak around a large, oddly shaped window on that wall. They were also instructed to make the transition from decorative scalloped siding at the peak to horizontal siding without the use of J-channel, for a nicer look. Approximately 6 weeks after the contract was signed, champion replaced the siding on the front of my home. When I returned from work, the first thing I noticed was that they had used J-channel for the transition from scallops to horizontal siding. Not only was there J-channel, but the spacing was terrible such that it appeared to be 3 rows of J channel when looking at it from the ground. When I complained about this, I was told that the transition I wanted from scallops to horizontal siding was not possible without J-channel. I printed installation instructions from the internet and showed them it was possible. They first attempted to "clean up" the transition with painted aluminum flashing, then gave in and ordered the correct pieces to do the transition correctly. Upon closer inspection, there was no effort made to fix the leak around the front window. I could see structural wood between the siding and the window, indicating the leak was now worse than it had been before. I insisted they correct this. Champion removed the siding from the front of my house and "flashed" around the front window with seaming tape. I had them remove this and use flashing tape. I also had to ask them to seam the Styrofoam underlayment together, which had not been done previously like they said they would in the sales presentation. The final issue was damage to my porch roof caused by the siding installation. The installer walked on the peaks and valleys, damaging the shingles. He also poked holes in the valley shingles with his ladder. Champion told me they would fix this. They picked up a shingle sample in mid February, and I've not heard from them since.

Description of Work: I had a patio room installed several years ago, I am very happy with it. I have had a few problems with window and door locks breaking, these items are covered by the warranty. I called to request the lock parts and was told I would be called when the parts would be available to pick up in their showroom. I asked if they would send the parts to me, they said they can not. It is a 90 mile round trip to their showroom for me. Gas is $3.50-$4 a gallon. I asked if I could pay to have them shipped, no, can't do that either. I understand the warranty only covers the part, I think if they want a better rating for customer service they should allow the customer to pay to ship the warranted items. Shipping fees would be far less tan the amount I spent on gas to drive over there to pick up parts that weighed a pound or two. I marked Professionalism an F (there is not a customer service grade block). I think shipping warranted parts to a customer (even at the customers expense) is a professional way to conduct business. This grade is only for the warranted parts, all other aspects of my dealings with Champion have been an 'A'.

Description of Work: We had a glassed-in patio put in last year by Champion. Is it so enjoyable to sit on the patio, and see the flowers, vegetables and the nice lawn.

Description of Work: They came and replaced 6 single hung window with double hung windows. Everything went great. We called and set up an appointment with them. Since I was a repeat customer I knew the quality of the window we were getting. One of the windows would not stay up and when I called they came right out and replaced the broken part.

Description of Work: We have 17 Champion Windows in our home, a steel front door & storm door. When we decided to replace an 8-foot sliding patio door, we went to their show room. After considering the various options/costs, we decided on a vinyl door with mini-blinds inside the panes of glass. We hadn't realized this would be an option until the store manager assured us that we could have this door made and that it would be installed in 6 weeks. I called the office a couple of days before the 6-week mark and was told that a shipment was coming that week and our door would be on the truck. A couple of days after the 6-week mark, we received a call advising us that it would not be possible to have a door made in this size if we wanted the mini-blinds. When asked why we were just being made aware of this situation, we were told that they weren't aware this was no longer possible. The options they gave us were to either have just plain vinyl doors - or have their crews chip away 6 inches of brick on either side of our door opening so they could install three 3-foot panels. They told us that they weren't aware that anyone could make such a large door with mini-blinds inside. (Fortunately, Pella made and installed the exact door we needed in 4 weeks.) We were extremely disappointed because it was now a few days before Thanksgiving and we had wasted over 6 weeks to learn that the door we wanted wasn't even a possibility. When their technician came to measure the door initially, they also checked out two broken sashes in other windows in the house. One window was repaired about 2 months later and the other took nearly 3 months to get the part and repair it. The process was fraught with delays, oversights and even appointments cancelled at the last minute. These most recent situations were the opposite of our experience when the house windows were ordered/installed over 15 years ago - an error-free and delay-free experience. We will still go to Champion if our current windows need servicing since we have a lifetime warranty - but likely not for any other door or window needs.
