Everything went fine except the electrician. They did an outstanding job, we checked with three different company. Everyone is apart of the company except the electrician. The electrician said we needed a new box and then left without completing the job. I would not have this electrician back in my home.

I did not select them for the work. The man they sent out was impressive. He was an artist. I was amazed how he drew on paper, as good as any artist, exactly what my screened-in porch would look like. You knew exactly what it was going to look like based off his drawing. I had never seen anything like that. He was also good at communication. They could not compete with the price I got from the company that eventually did the work. I also did not want the most expensive glass because I was not making the room a 4 season room and their less expensive glass did not qualify for an energy rebate. Those were two reasons we did not go with them. There window is better except for the rebate because they could custom build them. I called and told them I needed them to come down on price, which they did. But it was not near enough. They were responsive, just not to my lower cost request.
Description of Work: I got a quote from them for new windows and an entry door for a screeend-in porch.

They were on time for the appointment and weren?t late. That was a plus. My experience with them was good. They were very professional and explained in detail what they would do. They just gave me a feel of what it would cost and what the work would entail. They didn?t do any work and didn?t push me to get things done right away like some people do.

The guys that did the work were excellent. The room looks wonderful, it is fantastic. The professionalism of the foreman is why we would not use them in the future. He changed things and was not very good at communicating with us.
Description of Work: They built a patio room for us.
It was expensive. I had come into an inheritance after a relative passed away, so we decided we wanted to get the nicest sunroom we could. They had to really completely tear out and build the concrete slab that was back there. They had to put new footers in there and pour new slabs. It was a big procedure. They did an excellent job. We have got neighbors around here who have patio rooms that were built by other companies and ours is by far the nicest one of all of them. We don't even have heat or air-conditioning out here. We had them put in the whole entire patio room with sliding glass doors so we can get air circulating any way we want to. It really is wonderful. It has kept us pretty much warm. It's fairly warm in the wintertime. We have a little space that we use out here. The windows don't fog up. The glass doesn't fog up. You don't feel the cold or the heat through the glass. The company is very reliable and responsible and does nice work. We would use them again in the future if we needed to.

When I hired them the patio door needed to be done immediately. My husband had already begun digging out the rotted wood beneath the door. Around this time my husband had passed and it was tough time for me. The sales person was very high pressure and I didn't like his attitude. At one point, he had told me "I didn't come out here for nothing." I am very satisfied with their work and their product even though its a little bit expensive. My only complaint would be that they are very high pressure with their sales tactics and their price.

The original salesman arrived on time, was congenial, and gave me the detailed estimate I requested. I gave an order and paid 1/3 down. A rep came on time, assessed what was to be done and measured internal and external dimensions for each window. We received notices on the progress of the window manufacture. The installers came on time and installed the windows in two days. They cleaned up all debris. We were given care and operation instructions on the windows. Appearance is very good. Operation is very good. No signs of leakage either air or water. Screens are sturdy and easily removed and replaced. Price is 0 because we had very unusual windows.
Description of Work: Replaced 18 older single pane, double hung windows with 12 windows; a combination of sliders and casement. Some windows were 50+ years old, others were over 25 years old.The replacement windows are dual pane with inert gas and a film to relect heat. . .

The quality of the product and the service of the sales team and installation teams was excellent. There was a significant delay from the time we placed our order to the time the installation was finished. Better updates on the delay and the expected completion would have been nice but they worked with us on the final price and we couldn't complain about the promotion they had in place when we bought the windows and doors.
Description of Work: Replaced all windows in our home including walkout basement, main floor and second floor. The windows turned out to be so heavy that I can hardly open them. In addition, they are actually dangerous because since there are no springs they are like a guillotine when they are being moved from the closed to the open position. I would never even think about letting a child or elderly person mess with opening or closing these windows due to the hazard they pose. In addition to the safety issue, it appears that the manufacturer has surpassed the performance specficiations (if there are any) for the materials used to make these storm windows. I belive that if you ordered a storm window 6 foot by 6 foot, Champion would sell it to you, even though it would never work. The windows have been in for a year now and all the screens are sagging which leaves gaps for bugs to get in, the windows leak when I hose them down to wash them, they are dangerous and almost impossible to operate. The manager, John Richardson, came out to discuss the problem and the only solution they would offer was to put thermal windows in that were as large as the opening (I would need a hydraulic jack to open thermal windows that large). And of course this would be at my expense. I informed him that if anyone was hurt by these windows, we would be seeing a doctor, then a lawyer. I called them recently to complain about the sagging screens and the only solution was to add more clips. This only complicates the operation and maintenance of the windows even more. I would not recommend Champion because I feel they are only interested in making a sale, not finding solutions to the customers problems.
Description of Work: 6 replacement windows for my house and 9 storm windows for my gazebo were ordered and installed at my residence. The sales pitch is very high pressure and scripted. During the sales presentation the salesman continually pointed out that Champion manufactures their own windows and that they are all "custom" made. In addition, he made a big deal out of the caulk they used and showed me a tube with the Champion name on it. Said it was a proprietary recipe made specifically for them. The house windows turned out fine, but after seeing the installation process I doubt these were custom made for my house. The way they are configured these windows could have fit quite a range of opening sizes. Since they fill in significantly with this caulk and adjusting sides of the windows, the type of caulk would be very important. During installation the workers were using some off the shelf caulk (and lots of it) and I asked them about the Champion product. They said they were out of stock and that this was the same stuff anyway. In addition, there are many problems with the storm windows and during subsequent conversations with Champion, I was informed that Champion does not manufacture the storm windows. In regards to their pricing negotiations, that process feels like you are in Mexico haggling with the beach vendors. There is no fixed pricing and in hindsight, I feel like I overpaid for the product I received. During the course of the sales presentation the salesman was informed of the arthritis in my hands and that the most important feature of any window was ease of operation. Selection of the house windows was a no brainer since they were pretty much the standard thermal window with no size issues. I have a gazebo with large window openings approximately 56"X56". I was looking for a solution to cover these openings to keep wind and rain out and provide screening. Since thermal windows of that size was cost prohibitive, the salesman suggested storm windows. We discussed the issue of weight and he insisted that they would be easy to operate. He seemed to know his products and convinced me that this would be a good solution to my problem. Installation day came and they did the house windows first. Their installation team is top notch and do a marvelous job of installation. This part went fine. They installed the gazebo stowm windows and immediately there was a problem. They were supposed to have full screens, but came with only half screens. I was told this would be corrected. The full screens came and were installled on the inside of the window. This meant that in order to open the windows you first had to remove a very large screen. This was not acceptable and they came out and in order to put the screens on the outside had to cut away an entire section of framing and then added a clip to hold the screen in. "Whatever" is about all I can say about that.

I went to Champion's showroom to look at the sunrooms and I asked if they could build one in my price range because all of the ones that I saw were too expensive for me.The salesperson worked out a price and told me what the size would be.I chose the color carpet and whether I wanted the sunroom to be on the ground level or higher,I chose higher.

Lack of clean-up drops Champion into the "B" category. We had to clean our deck and outside doors/windows ourselves after the tracking and splashing involved in concrete cutting and pouring, and we had to clean the mud and dirt from our new concrete floor after the room was built before we could carpet. Otherwise a very positive experience from sales call (Greg Adler) to completion. Though completion seemed to take quite a bit longer than we were told, a holiday may have slowed things. Work crews showed up when we were told they would, we just didn't often know more than a day in advance when that might be. Competitive pricing, good quality and workmanship and extensive warranties win our recommendation over the several other companies we had bid for the job.

We met with Champions representative, Greg Adler, who walked through wtih us what we wanted. He wrote it out including drawings. He gave us information about the company with samples of previous work. Once the work started from taking down the old porch to building the new room we found everyone to be friendly, professonal and very qualified. We appreciated the communication letting us know when they would be here, what to expect and what was currently going on with the room. They worked around a backyard birthday party we had for our grandson and went above and beyond to make sure the grounds and room were clean and safe. In fact we were very impressed and pleased with the clean up everyone did each day. Everyone worked hard while here. At one point during the construction there was a miscommunication/misunderstanding in which we were very disappointed. At this point Tim Young, Division Manager spoke with us personally and worked with us to make some changes and make sure we were satisfied. We were very appreciative of their willingness to work with us this way. All in all we love our room! We feel it is one of the best decisions we've made as we've increased our square footage in a way that is truely enjoyable on a daily basis. We want to especially note that Jim and Greg are amazing skilled carpenters. And we especially appreciated Greg's suggestions, problem solving ideas and instructions regarding our windows.
Description of Work: Removed existing 10x10 screened porch and built a 12x21 all season room using 4 star energy glass, aluminum frame and vinyl kneeboard siding. The room peaks around 12' high. It has shingled roof with gutters. AC/heating unit and four electrical outlets. Custom vertical blinds on all panals around room. Indoor and outdoor lighting.

The salesman was pretty long-winded and took a lot longer than was necessary on his initial visit. However, the rest of the process was very smooth, and these are very, very good quality windows. We checked Energy Star's ratings, and these were the best. Our son's room used to heat up with the midday sun, but now he can open his blinds and not worry about the sun. We are very happy.

We had used Champion before for siding, which they had done a very good job with, so we really weren't looking for the hard sell, we just wanted the price. Despite that, we had to sit through the 2 hour sales pitch. We went with Champion because of the price (and good prior experience). Our windows are great. Our doors are the problem. We use our sliding glass door like a regular entry door because we park behind our house. These doors are apparently not made for this (despite the assurances of our salesman to the contrary). The lock is so stiff that my key has literally bent 45 degrees from the pressure of trying to open it. It takes 2 hands to turn the keys. My elderly mother, or a child, would not be able to lock or unlock this door. I had a service call to try to adjust it, and they informed me that the doors are not meant to be used this way (to walk in and out of?!?!?) and suggested that I attach a dowel rod or use pliers to turn the key to get more torque on it. I'm not kidding. A month or two later the lock on the screen broke. It's a small metal piece that we could easily replace ourselves, but they wouldn't just mail us one, we had to wait for a service call. This is very problematic for us, as my cat can open the screen if it's not locked, so we had to keep the door shut for the week waiting for the service call. When he came and fixed it, we asked if he could leave us a couple extras of that lock, so we could just replace it ourselves if it happened again, and they would not (it's just a little metal latch, it can't be expensive). Now that latch is broken again. In addition, the handle on the glass door has gotten looser and looser, and now one of the screws has pulled all the way through, causing the handle to be very loose and unsecure. I had service out again. He blamed the broken latch on us, saying we must be pulling on it when locked. It's just my husband and I here, we don't have kids or anything, and we always know it's locked, so the only other possible culprit is the cat, but shouldn't a door latch be able to stand up to a cat? He also blamed the loose handle on us, or suggested maybe someone was trying to break in, but the loose screw is on the inside, and there is no other evidence anyone attempted to break in. He had to order a part for the handle, which we've now waited 2 weeks for, and in the meantime, he didn't even fix the screen latch; I guess he's waiting to do both at once, but why not do it while he was there? Bottom line, the windows are great. The doors are great, except for this whole lock/handle debacle. We feel that the salesman misrepresented the product, if it can't handle heavy traffic, we should have been told that honestly. We were very upfront about how we use it. Champion has fixed everything so far, but we feel it's been ridiculous to have all these problems in the first place. We have 3 more windows to replace, and don't know if we will use them again.
