Champion is locally owned and operated and we have three branches to serve your location. We realize that for most people, your home is your greatest investment; so trust your repairs to a company that knows the area inside and out.
To start, I want to say that this company did $2000 dollars worth of damage to my home. The way it happened was not that Tim or the Foreman brought it to my attention, but I had gone down into my basement and found the damage. Then I had to bring it up to them. I was told that they were going to have a contractor come out to give an estimate to determine the cost to repair and this person never came to my home. During this company doing work at my home one of their employees ran over my neighbor's mail box and they have not made that right with them. Since Luke Harie the owner has said he is done with me I will have to fix this issue myself. I had a new patio installed and when Tim Kirchmer came out to sell the job I was promised that they would cover the patio so it wouldn't be damaged. The company did not insure that as promised & I had to on two occasions tell the employees to cover the patio. Before you hire this company you need to ask to see the pits that they will use. The pits that they used on my house were the cheapest pits you can buy. I also feel they are unsafe to have in a home with children because the lid is almost impossible to close. It is sad that a company would use this kind of pit when there are much safer and better pits are available. But I guess that would cut into their profit. One of the issues I still have at my home is the drainage line. The line that this company put in was done wrong. I can say this because I have had 2 plumbers and 2 other contractors come out to my home to evaluate what was done. I also know because I stood out on my patio with my plumber & Luke Harie for over an hour & we discussed how the existing line wouldn't work & how to correct it. The amazing thing to me is how someone can be in this business and not know or understand how the water should flow in order to drain properly. How many homes has this company run discharge lines incorrectly if the owner does not understand this. The way Luke's company ran the line would have caused the pumps to quick working sooner & replacing them would be another added expense that would have been unnecessary which apparently Luke Harie does not care about. At this time Luke has said he will not correct this and I will have to hire another company to correct this issue. We had also agreed that the ditch next to the footer would be 10 inches. Instead of the 10 inches, they only dug out about 7 inches. The only reason I knew about this was because I had checked on their work & they had to redo it after I brought this to Tim's attention. It's hard to figure the 10 inches without something to measure with. They had to borrow my tape measure because they didn't have anything to measure with. One evening I went down to check how things were going and I found that my pit was not done yet and the pump had been unplugged and was setting down in mud. We were suppose to have a big rain that night which would have flooded my basement. I will say I called Tim and he came out at 1 AM to fix the problem. The issue I had with that iis that if I had not checked their work, my basement would have flooded & there would have been much much more damage to my home due to their neglect. I had a problem with one of their employees that got upset and used inappropriate language like God D---- and the F word. I have a 3 year old granddaughter in my home that could hear and even after I went up to the employee and said, "Hey, I have a 3 year old in the next room" the employee continued for almost another 5-10 min. using his foul language. I had a problem with the Foreman that they had on my job. The reason I had an issue was because he had made 3 big mistakes and also he was not obeying the agreement not to smoke on my property. So I told Tim that I did not want that employee back on my property. Believe it or not that employee showed up at my home the next day even though I was told he would not return. The most interesting thing is I called the owner Luke Harie about this and he said you can't fire or lay off my employee. The thing that Luke does not understand is that I was not saying he had to fire the employee, I just did not trust this person and I did not want him back on my property and this was not honored. I was told that the few items that I had in my basement would be covered so they would not get dirty or damaged. I went down in my basement more than once and had to ask that they cover the items. My wife has an antique chair that is white in color and the employees were using it as a clothes rack for their dirty sweaty clothes and I had to ask them to remove their items and cover the chair. I was told by Tim on a number of days that he would show up and make sure everything would be running like it should. He would not show up until the end of the day or not at all. I expect when someone says they are going to do something that they will do it.. That was not the case with this job.If I had not been having any problems maybe this would be OK, but I was having many issues. It was Tim's job to oversee the job & make sure everything was going as agreed upon. Maybe if he would have shown up & really looked at the situation we wouldn't have had all of these problems. I have a pit in my basement that has a 4 inch hole in it that should not be there and has the potential of draining water back under my basement floor. Luke Harie (the owner) says he will not make this right. I have a pit that should have a check value installed according to Zoeller which manufactures the pumps. This is the company that Luke Harie uses in his waterproofing & yet he told me he will not install a check valve. The interesting thing is that before Luke arrived at my house, the employees had a check valve that was going to be installed. But when he showed up things went from bad to 10 times worse. The day that Luke arrived at my house he came with Tim and they went down into the basement and I thought, "Good, now maybe things will improve & be done right!!" I did not go down right away so Luke would have time to look things over. Next thing I realize, Tim left and then I see the employees throwing my discharge line into the back of their pickup. So I went downstairs to find out what was going on and nothing that was agreed to was being done. I brought this up to Luke and his response was " This is what it is going to be". I couldn't believe this. Of course Tim was not present and I could have cornered him with what he had agreed to do. Tim never has returned to my home since that day. Part of the agreement was to run a line for a second pit and they were suppose to run both to the same area. Luke was changing things that I did not agree with. But after some discussion with Luke, my plumber, & myself, we came up with a solution and Luke said he would come out the next day to run this line. Luke assured my wife that he would have everything hooked up on Monday evening. We have been unable to do any laundry at home for 1 1/2 months because of this. Before leaving, Luke pressured me to pay $8000. Against my better judgment, I did this even though the agreement was that payment would be rendered after the job was completed. Luke did not come back to finish the job before I left for vacation. But he had no problem cashing my check immediately. II called him and left a message suggesting that Luke, Tim, and I meet when I get back and figure out what to do. I would have thought that Luke would have called me back but he did not. I called him back again and Luke said he will not come back to my property to fix the issue. He said to hire someone else. He was extremely rude on the phone and this was not the first time. My plumber and my son witnessed the way he was talking to me & raising his voice. He was very rude, arrogant, & unprofessional. Since Luke said he was done with me & would not come back to my house, I had no other choice but to hire someone else to complete his job that he left unfinished. Since the original contract was not fulfilled, I had no reason to believe that his warranty was valid. I hired another company to trench the outside drainage line & hook it up correctly. They also replaced the 2 pits in the basement. One of the pits was NOT even an actual pit, but a culvert they had cut & placed alot of concrete in the bottom of it. The agreement was for a pit, NOT a culver. The 2nd company couldn't believe what Champion had installed. While they were here, I showed them several wet places in the basement where Champion had done the waterproofing. We had several days of rain & noticed that these wet places kept appearing. It was determined that something was wrong & the 2nd company I hired agreed to redo the waterproofing too. While doing the job, they constantly pointed out the errors that Champion had made. I documented these in pictures & movies. It wasn't one or two errors, but the entire job!! There was no way that the basement was waterproofed correctly. And it was evident with the wet places around the basement walls. Some of the errors were the outside discharge line was not hooked up or sealed & was leaking right outside the basement wall. The drainage line on the inside was run like a roller coaster. There was no consistent slope to ensure the proper drainage to the pit. Therefore water was sitting in the line causing the leaks. The fiber lock strips were not installed correctly. They were coming loose from the wall & you can put your whole hand between the strip & the wall. The 2nd company was very professional & got the job completed in a timely manner. The difference between the two companies was night & day. What Champion put my family through should not have happened and Luke Harie should have made everything right. I would most definitely NOT hire this company again.
