Horrible. Amateur work. Uneven application, paint on the windows, runs drips onto the concrete patio, failed to paint some areas, spilled paint on the roof of the house, took too long (over a month), and bickering among the workers. I didn't pay them. Instead, I called in a real professional to clean up the mess.

Very responsive to e-mails and phone calls from the beginning. Did follow-ups to make sure we were satisfied. Crew did a good job cleaning up at the end of the day. Very quick painting!
Description of Work: Had most of the interior of our house painted. They did a great job! They did a walk through at the end of the day and addressed any problems I found. They also power washed the exterior and replaced pieces of worn wood.

They were amazing! Their employees were clean and respectful of our home. I thought they worked quickly, efficiently, and professionally. Once they completed painting an area, they’d move all of our furniture back to its proper place. I was really pleased by how thoroughly the cleaned up. We even got a neighborhood discount because so many of our neighbors used their service last year.

They were absolutely wonderful! I initially contacted CertaPro through their website by scheduling an appointment. They then called me directly to confirm the appointment and follow-up. The gentleman who provided our estimate had a large variety of color selections. He was very helpful and professional. The crew who performed the work was equally as good. Everything they painted looks crisp and fresh. They cleaned up after themselves very well, even vacuuming areas where they had worked. We’ll definitely be using their service again! I’d give them an A+ if I could.

We figured it was going to be a whole full day because it needed a lot of scraping and things like that. They were done completely in two days. It's a ranch so they had a lot of work to do. There was a lot of scraping and some repair work to do. The workers were very nice and very courteous. They were thorough. We were very happy with the painters that the company sent. They had to remove lead paint so when they scraped, they had to contain everything that they scraped. They had to wear the suits for the lead paint abatement. The price was more because of that. They were very responsive.

We agreed with your sales representative on the price and to use the “higher quality” paint, the Porter “Permanizer” with the 3 year warranty, and chose the color, etc. (“Permanizer” has a lifetime guarantee.) The painters showed up about 9:00 AM on the agreed date to start to work. First, they power washed the entire exterior, then left for an hour for lunch, returned and after a while proceeded to paint. If they scraped, I never saw any indication of it, and they definitely did not sand and prime. (Porter Paint recommends an oil base primer for the “Permanizer”.) The crew left about 8:00 that evening. When they didn’t return the next day I called and was told they were finished. I went out to inspect the job and was amazed at the completely terrible job they had done! The top part of the 5 bottom boards around the entire house were not painted, they used a spray gun and didn’t bend down for the underneath parts. (Porter recommends using a brush on Cedar wood.) But they did manage to spray paint a lot of bushes, flowers, grass and my shed. Altogether they came back twice, finally doing the caulk, which they never did the first day, and painting the bottom rows that they missed with the spray. Of course a phone call was needed to get them out the third time. Finally after a third call, CertaPro sent their “Best” guy, Juan, out. I then learned that the original crew was a sub-contractor. I agreed for CertaPro to paint my house not All U Need, Inc. The original painting took 4 visits, 3 phone calls and about 2 weeks. Every year since we have had peeling, etc. and CertaPro has done touch ups. In fact, 3 areas have been touched up each time, showing a lack of sanding and use of a spot primer by CertaPro. This is the third year.

Response from CertaPro Painters® of Indianapolis
We have made several attempts to rectify this situation. During my inspection with the homeowner, we looked at a couple areas in which the paint had begun to crack and peel. After closer investigation, I noticed the paint was not peeling, but the top layer of wood was beginning to delaminate and peel. The coating we applied in 2008 is sticking to the substrate. It was explained to the homeowner that this was not considered a warranty issue; however we would schedule a contractor to come out and address the issues regardless of the cause. He agreed to allow us to come out and repair the areas we discussed. The day before we were going to send a crew out to do the needed repairs, the homeowner requested we repaint the entire home.

CertaPro was the successful bidder out of of many. In my opinion, this project could not have been executed any better from start to finish. The Sales contact, Ryan, was extremely informative and patient while working through several obstacles associated with this project. The Project Leader, Scott, was excellent. His planning, communication, suggestions throughout the process, and selection of the painters, headed by Dennis, could not have been better. He always kept me informed at every stage of the project, sometimes hour-by-hour. Since this project involved compliance with Federal regulations, State and City authorities as well as working around the needs of adjacent business owners, it required Scott to "jump through many hoops". He did that, and then some, with disciplined method and precision. To say the least, I was extremely impressed with his work and professionalism. Dennis was a joy to work with. He and his crew worked from the moment they arrive until the moment they departed at the end of the day. They are all professionals and it became clear that their mission was to perform this job the best that they knew how to do. The quality of the work was outstanding, and the results have been complimented by many in the surrounding community as well as passers by. I can recommend CertaPro, Indy to anyone without any reservation. I will not hesitate to contract with them for my future painting needs.

Their sales representative came out and estimated the job for us. He was punctual. We had a good dialogue with him. We chose them on their willingness to work with us. Their workers who came to do the job for us were always on time. They were very courteous. They had five people on the crew and all of them were committed to completing the job. They asked us for a feedback everyday and they rectified everything that we pointed out to them. When the job was completed we found that the quality of work was excellent. The only issue that we had was that when we talked to their sales representative, he promised us that they would do some work, which their workers later refused to do. When I called him up and spoke to him about it, he immediately offered to adjust the price. I thought that was very fair. The crew always tried to make sure they understood what I wanted. If they did not understand what I was saying, they would stop me and ask me to explain myself again. I would recommend them to anyone. Their prices are reasonable. They did not leave a major mess when they left. I did not notice any mistakes that they might have made after the job was done. I would use their services in the future also.

The end result in the paint was good. The service itself was - well, interesting. We were disappointed that CertaPro Subcontracted our painters. Our powerwashing was not done well. Old paint chips that should have come off with powerwashing didn't. The subcontractors just painted over them... We had to point these out and have them come back to scrape and touch up. A couple of cigarette butts were found in our yard- which was unprofessional. Despite the above complaints though, the job was done in a reasonable amount of time and done pretty well. The painters were responsive to concerns and remedied each problem quickly.

They were pretty impressive. I don't know what the work is going to be like. I would recommend them from what I have seen so far from the professionalism standpoint. They spent enough time with us and didn't seem like they were in a hurry. They did a really thorough job and we watched what they did. It just felt right because I've seen a few of these other people come out to give estimates at my father’s home. It's kind of like they are there and gone.

I took down my TV, Blinds moved my furniture so paint didn't get on them and sure enough, paint ended up on recliner, both Flat screen TV's, Paint on blinds that cost over $200, paint on my newly laid floors, paint on ceiling, edges not finished. I begged to leave the paint so I can do it myself. They painted over my HVAC registers so now I can't even open or close them. I had to replace them. There were loads of imperfections I'm still working to fix myself...I still have holes in walls that weren't properly smoothed out. I never saw a Certapro individual. The work is contracted out to another company. After all the paint was dropped on everything, they offered another company you can pay for to clean up the paint they spilled. I even got paint on my storm door (the outside portion) It has taken me a week to cover up the spots they missed. I did not take advantage of the walk through because I lost trust in their work. I highly recommend other candidates...Do NOT USE CERTAPRO I AM BEGGING YOU....Over priced lack of quality. Paint over the HVAC registers???REALLY?...

This is the first time that we hired Certapro to paint our house, which has been painted four times since we have lived in it. The house has many previous coats of paint and many, many old windows, screens and storm windows. They did a more complete job scraping than any other painters we have ever hired. They were extremely neat, cleaned up every day, worked hard in the blistering heat, and did a very good painting job. The colors were dark gray and white, so it was very important that the trim was painted carefully, and it was. They were very responsive to any requests. This is the best paint job we have ever had on our house, and we would highly recommend them and use them again.

We had a terrible experience with CertaPro and would never recommend the company to anyone. They came out to give us a quote and we discussed the job and what colors we wanted. Every other company that we had met with quoted one coat of primer and one coat of paint (b/c we were going from a dark brown to an off-white), but CertaPro assured us that b/c of the high quality of paint they used, we would only need two coats of paint, and no primer. He did explain that we might need a third coat for the bright blue we chose for a couple walls, but he assured us that the off-white would cover in two coats. He also explained that CertaPro strives to provide a high level of customer service. He explained that the company had recently hired two quality control managers whose only job was to verify that projects were completed properly, including making sure that crews were on time, not parked in the customer?s driveway, and performing the job correctly. Because of the company?s customer focus and competitive quote, we hired CertaPro. We would soon regret that decision. Our job was scheduled for May 31, but b/c we were anxious to get the painting done, we were told that if an opening came available earlier we would be notified. On May 18, I was called and told that because of rain, they had a crew available that day. The individual that I spoke with told me that they had received my color choices the day before and were all set to begin work. He also stated that they would finish the job that day. About 1 hour later, three men showed up to work. They parked in my driveway. I spoke with the job site supervisor about the job and what was to be painted. They had arrived without the paint, so the supervisor left to go to the paint store while the other two set up. A while later, the supervisor called from the store b/c he couldn?t find the blue paint color we had chosen for the kitchen (despite being told earlier that they had my colors and were prepared to work). I explained the color again and when he couldn?t find it, he purchased the off-white color he could find, returned to my home to collect the sample I had for the blue, and went back to the store. When he returned with the remainder of the blue paint, the three painters all worked together. At this point, I thought things were going smoothly, but a little while later, they asked to speak with me. I was told that they had painted two coats of the off-white color on the specified walls (about 75% of the job), but a third coat was needed. I was surprised to hear this, since we were told during the estimate that two coats would cover properly, but looking at the walls it was clear we needed a third coat. Before agreeing to this, I asked how much it would cost. I was told they would have to contact another supervisor and that someone would come by the house to discuss the cost. A short time later, another supervisor arrived. He looked around and told me it would cost another $535.00 for the third coat. I informed him that we had been specifically told that two coats would cover the old color and that I thought his quote was high. While I was aware there might be an additional charge if a third coat was needed for the blue color, we hadn?t budgeted for the extra cost now quoted because we were told it wouldn?t be necessary. He said that he would need to speak with his supervisor (the person who had given us the estimate) and would call me later. He left. A while later, he did call back. He told me he was given permission to offer that they paint the third coat for $40 per hour and they wouldn?t charge for supplies or set up (which was very nice of them since they already had the supplies and were already set up). I asked if that was $40 per hour total, or $40 per hour, per painter. He assured me that was $40 per hour, NOT $40 per hour, per painter. Frustrated, but anxious to have the work completed, I agreed. He then called the paint crew, presumably to explain the agreement, and the painters continued working. The head painter informed me at 3:00 P.M. they were starting the third coat of the off-white color. They were finished at 4:30. Around 4:45 that afternoon, I was told they would not be able to complete the work that day and they would need to return the next morning. (That day, other than the supervisor stopping by to discuss the payment issues, I did not hear from or meet any quality control managers and only dealt with the painters.) The next morning my husband stayed home from work while the painters completed the job. They arrived at the house around 8:30 and began work between 8:45 and 9:00 A.M. They parked in the driveway. They started painting the second coat of the blue color we had chosen for the kitchen, since they only painted one coat the day before. After that, they painted the trim (baseboards and crown molding) and the third coat of blue paint. The third coat of blue paint took between 1- 1.5 hours. That day, they painted the second coat of blue and trim (already included in the contract) and a third coat of blue, and were done around 12:45. My husband was then told that on top of the contract price, it would be another $560 for the overtime for the third coat. When my husband objected, the painting supervisor stated that it was $40 per hour, per painter, and it was about 5 hours extra, even though we had been assured that it was $40 per hour, flat. I called the company and explained the situation. I told them that we would not be paying for anything until I had a total amount in writing. I asked them to email me something right away so we could close the matter. He told me he would call the painters and explain the situation, email me an invoice, and call me back that afternoon. I never heard from him. Meanwhile, when the painters were told that they were not getting paid that day, they left. No one walked through the house with my husband to check the work. No one called me to make sure the job was done correctly. I never heard back from anyone that day. The next day, May 20, I called the local office, asking for an invoice. I was told they would contact the job site supervisor and have him call me. He didn?t call. Later that afternoon, I called again and I was told to call the supervisor directly. I got his voicemail and left a message. He returned my call around 5:30 P.M. that evening. He explained that it would be $40 per hour for the extra time it took to apply the third coat of paint, and that the painters had submitted a total of 5.5 hours of overtime. This was astonishing, since it took 1.5 hours to complete the third coat on 75% of the walls the first day, and yet they wanted me to believe it took 4 hours the second day to apply the third coat on the rest of the walls, considering the crew was only at my house for a little over 4 hours the second day, and most of that time was spent painting the second coat and the trim, which was already included in the contract. But since the ?quality control manager? never stopped by, they obviously wouldn?t have known that. I explained what had actually happened, and he stated that he would have to talk to his painter about that. I told him that in order to close this matter, we would agree to pay for three hours of overtime. He stated that he would send me an invoice by email so that I could make payment. He also explained, after I voiced my disappointment at their customer service, that he supervised more than sixteen crews and couldn?t be expected to be at each job site. He explained that it was in fact the head painter who was supposed to do the final walk through, which confused me since I had been told that a quality control manager, independent of the work crew, was supposed to complete the walk through, and not the job site supervisor who left immediately upon learning that he was not going to be collecting payment that day. I explained that had the painter, or the quality control manager, done a final walk through with my husband they would have found missed areas around our door, blue paint splatters on my kitchen floor and glass door, blue paint bleeding on the white baseboards, and white paint dripping from the baseboards onto my kitchen floor. We received the invoice by mail on May 24 and immediately sent a check with pictures of the job. Upon receiving the photos, the representative who had given us the estimate called to apologize and offered to have the crew come back to fix the mistakes. Since we didn?t want the painters back in our house, he offered to reimburse us for the overtime we had paid for, which we agreed to accept, although, we still feel like we overpaid, since the work we did pay for wasn?t even done correctly. Overall, my husband and I were incredibly disappointed with the service we received from CertaPro. We were told during our initial consultation that customer service was their number one priority, and yet, when an issue arose, it seemed as though no one cared to help us resolve the matter. We feel like we were lied to throughout the entire process. Everyone I dealt with was constantly calling someone else to find out what to do, the communication was slow, response times were unusually long, and all of the customer service perks we were promised were nowhere to be seen.
Description of Work: Painted the interior of our home, including our two-story foyer, family room, kitchen, hallway, baseboards and crown molding. We had them paint four walls in the kitchen a bright blue color and the remainder of the walls were to be painted cream/off-white color.

They were great. They were really professional. They charged $962.00 for the basement and about $3000.00 for the outside painting. I thought it was neat that they painted the gutters and downspouts. They did a great job at it so I don't know what they could improve on. My sister referred them to me. We went over there one day and they went over a plan. They had a brick house and they wanted them to paint over the brick and they did a great job. They are courteous almost to a fault. They are punctual. They come early so you have to be prepared for that. They make sure you like it. I wasn't sure what color I wanted put on the house and at no charge they referred a home designer who came from Carmel. They didn't include that in the price. We sat down for an hour and went over different paints and that's how I chose my colors. The one thing I didn't like was that they try to push the finance on you. I had the cash for it but they kept pushing me to go for the finance. I don't know what they get out of it. The price was much cheaper than what I thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be astronomical so it was a nice surprise. The quality was great. They did an excellent job. They were punctual. They were there before you got out of bed.
Description of Work: Certa Pro Painters painted my house last year and they painted my basement. They also painted the gutters, downspouts, and the chimney.
