Kevin first walked the property evaluating the work and pointing out cedar siding that was showing rot. As his team got closer more rotten boards were discovered. We were kept appraised of the situation and the wood rot was pointed out before work continued. Since this Spring was very wet Kevin kept in touch and brought a team in to paint sometimes for even just a half day to take advantage of the weather. The team cleaned up at the end of each day. A few days after completion I noticed some areas that might have been missed or needed more paint. Kevin responded to my call and had the team out the same day to add paint. He suggested to wait a few days and give it a chance to dry and if it still needed more paint to let him know. We were very impressed with his professionalism, attention to detail, workmanship. We would hire Canull Painting & Home Repair again.

The job was delayed both in start and completion. Extremely poor quality work. Many pieces of wood trim were "repaired" rather than replaced, which consisted of cauking. The areas were far to large for this type of repair and the wood was soft/damaged within months. They used interior paint on the exterior of our home. The multiple flyers that are placed in the mailboxes in our neighborhood state "no complaints with the Better Business Bureau" - though when I went to the BBB to file a complaint of my own, I saw that several already existed. Definitely would NOT recommend this company due to poor workmanship and poor communication/customer service.
Description of Work: We contracted Kevin Canull to paint our home exterior and replace/repair rotted wood trim.

Description of Work: Kevin's crew did interior painting. The quality of the work was good. But, they were not meticulous and the carpet had marks where they had dripped paint. They also missed painting a window. Kevin has also agreed to repair a skylight, but he kept calling with some reason for a delay. Never did show up. He was a nice person, but I felt I could not count on him.

I have detailed pics, contracts not completed, other contractors bids now 3 x's what they originally were due to their negligence in damages and refusal to work with my insurance company. It is my hope no other widow suffering loss or family for that matter has to go through what I did. Attorney General and Fraud Consumer Protection is working closely with me. Beware! I wish I was now I'm left with loss after loss ={
Description of Work: As recent widow 07/04/2015 I had to make the difficult decision to move out of our home. I hired Canull Painting and Repair to make repairs to my home to get ready to lease and sell. Over 2 months later and having to hire someone to help me get him to complete the work Kevin Canull left me with water damage, mold and almost triple expenses to fix the damage in my home plus the work I paid him over 10k to fix that was NEVER completed.

It took 3 months to replace a simple 1 story roof. It was never completely finished adequately. Vents are leaking and shingles falling off. Unfinished roof wasn't covered during rain storm. After 3 months, the leaking was never stopped completely. Now, I have black mold in ceiling along with 22 big brown spots which he just painted over. He refuses to take any responsibility for the leaking. FYI, the roof never leaked before he replaced it. He refused to give me any money back for unfinished work and damages due to leaking.

The first coat was not completed on the house, he took the shutters to paint elsewhere (and never returned), the windows were painted shut (windows were not opened and exterior window sills were not painted, deck repair was not started, deck was not painted at all, a big spot on the upper front lever never painted because he didn't have a ladder tall enough, he took our personal tall ladder elsewhere leaving two lesser ladders here, left paint brushes on window sills, broom, and a microwave on our front porch. We understood several fall days as questionable but anticipated that we'd be first on the list in the spring. However, after several attempts we have not been able to meet with Mr. Canull as of this date.
Description of Work: Trusting him we paid him $5000 of the $5900 for the total job which included 2 coats of paint, some wood repair on the exterior and deck.

They never finished the job and kept telling us they would be out as soon as they finished another job. We have paid them for almost the entire job, but they have been giving us the run-around. They have told me multiple times that they would be back to finish the job the next morning, but never showed up. They have got paint everywhere, there was paint on our generator, there was paint on our front porch, which we had to pressure wash and reseal, they painted our garage door to the ground and it broke when we tried to open it, they bent our gutters, and we have personally spent our own time out there touching up and finishing the job they should have completed for what we have paid. We have told them not to come back at this point in time because we are over this experience. There was one guy on the crew that was absolutely wonderful, but the other two on the crew couldn't seem to do anything right.
Description of Work: They were paid to paint the entire exterior of our home.

I give this review stating that he presents himself as a pretty nice guy and probably is. My wife was having a party and wanted a few things done. He described an excellent paint crew that would paint our bathroom. The work he did on our roof was acceptable. The bathroom painting was deplorable and the worst work I have seen by any contractor or individual. He had a guy that laid carpet paint for us and didn't mud the walls correctly. He actually blamed our walls. He put on one coat and there are big areas of white bleeding through. Plus, the pock-marks are so bad that we literally have to pay to have the whole thing re-done. His excuse was that when we decided not to have dry-wall work done on our roof, he simply couldn't put his good painters on the job for our bathroom because he is so busy. When they were removing a light fixture, they asked my wife if he could turn off the circuit. Instead of flipping the breaker like 99.9% of people that know what they are doing would do, he shut down our main breaker and killed the power to the entire house, shutting down our computer equipment and everything that runs on power. We had it in writing that the work would be done on the 29th but when he didn't show for a couple days after making commitments to do so, he said he thought he had until the 8th, which was the day of the party. I don't have anything against the guy personally but if I hope I can help others to avoid our misfortune.

Sump pump stopped due to circuit overload No one home so there was 2 inches of water in a finished basement Kevin had been at a friends house and stopped by. He said they had quite a bit of experience in this area and would get his crew in and equipment right away. The equipment was a rented carpet cleaner/extractor and trash bags. Hope plumbing (A+ company, all the way) had come in and found the short and restarted the pump for no charge! So Kevin and Cory pulled the carpet and took the padding out and threw it in a trash bag to get rid of. Kevin did not know how to handle or classify the type of water, so the rug was not thrown out right away. The water was a class 2 which required microbial cleaning. When Kevin left the rug was soaked and we had to pull all our old fans to try to dry it out. Thank goodness Code Blue/Remodeling Services and Complete Restoration stepped in and took care of the problem. Check out Angies List even in an emergency situation. We are going to ask for some of our money back from Kevin Canull
Description of Work: Kevin said they were experienced in cleaning up a basement flood from a sump pump which had just happened. But it became obvious that they did not have true experience in this area as they worked. They left the job only partially finished and we had to hire a certified company to come in and finish the clean up. We felt like we had been taken advantage of because of friend of a friend.

Do not contract them, that is how I can summarize it, the "affordable" costs of labor are not worth the quality nor the lack of professionalism. I've sent a claim to the consumer protection bureau.

We are very sorry that this customer was not satisfied with our service. We do appreciate the fact that this customer mentioned how affordable our prices are though. They did submit a complaint to the consumer protection bureau . However , for the record, we were VERY concerned about their complaint , so we contacted the agency and the agency representative told us that their complaint was not accepted by the agency. We would have done anything within reason , to have tried to satisfy this customers complaint if they had contacted us directly after the completion of their project . Again, we are glad that they mentioned the affordability of our prices,, but are VERY sorry that they were not satisfied with our overall service.

Kevin Canull's step-son, Cory, was "contractor" and showed up "promptly" at 1 pm on the days when he did show up at all. He was gone by 4:30 PM each day of those days. (Although it cannot be verified, there was one occasion when he was on site in the morning, and allegedly worked until 9 that evening, but this was the one day the homeowner was not on site.) On one of the first days of work Cory left the job with the cedar siding removed and the studs exposed, when a heavy rain storm came. Homeowner was called and instructed to cover the opening. Homeowner witnessed Cory, in a temper tantrum, throwing his own circular saw across the front yard when it did not work properly. Five days after beginning work, little had been done besides the initial tear off. Cory spent June 19, Saturday, replacing the front cedar and the arch over the window. (This was the only day real progress was seen. It was also the only day the homeowner was not on site.) He had completed the arch trim with pine over the window and this appeared to be nicely done. Painters were brought in, who Cory said he had worked with before, a fact which turned out to be a fabrication. The painters were FANTASTIC, however, with a work ethic that had been expected of in the company. They used homeowner's power washer and cleaned the north side. They determined it was in great shape and did not need painting again. (Cory later told them they should have claimed to have painted it and charged extra for this work.) The painters did a careful and thorough job on the front trim and the boards that had been newly installed. Because they were waiting for Cory to return to complete some carpentry work they even washed the outside of the windows and were instructed to charge homeowner for this, which they refused to do. Unfortunately Cory never returned to complete the detail work in the front near where the original leak in the garage had occurred. Cory and Kevin Canull then charged the homeowner an extra $1250 for unforeseen "materials" and extra labor. Homeowner refused to pay total amount. Homeowner did, however, (stupidly) write a check for the balance, although work was not yet completed. The next day, Cory called in sick with "food poisoning" though later admitted he was hung-over. The painters, now forced to do carpentry work in order to complete the job, used wood scraps to fashion the backing for the gutter to connect to. They had no materials or tools with which to work, yet were instructed to complete the job. This was done with materials found around the house and with the tools of the homeowner. With the first rain on July 8, 2010, homeowner noticed that water was leaking down drywall in the garage. Kevin was called multiple times before he finally returned the call. Kevin did not come out nor take any restorative action, but instead advised homeowner to call the company who had originally installed the roof. On Thursday Sept 2, one of the cedar slats slipped down,

I am very sorry to hear that member was so unhappy with my step sons hourly work schedule. This project required alot more work than expected though. We were hired to repair a roof leak, ceiling damage in the garage, and to replace a small amount of rotted siding and trim on the front of the home. After we removed the rotted siding , my step son found that the plywood that the siding is nailed to was also extremely rotted and there was no way to attach the new siding to this rotted material. He explained to the member that we would have to replace the additional rotted plywood and that trhere would be an additional cost for the extra labor and materials. She then told him to go ahead and do the extra work since it absolutely needed to be done to finish the project. We completed the additional work and presented the member with the final bill while standing in her front yard. For some reason she was suprised that we were charging extra for the extra 2-3 days worth of work that we completed for her . I was suprised that she was suprised by the extra charges so I told her that we would consider waiving the extra labor costs if she would just pay us back for all the extra materials that we had to purchase. She then paid us for the extra materials and at that point I thought she was in agreement with the discount that we gave her and happy with the work we had completed. If she was not satisfied with the work at that point , she probably wouldn't have paid us. She then called us saying her roof was still leaking. Since she told me it was a pretty new roof, I suggested she call her roofer who had installed the new roof for her. I told her to have him call me if I could help in any way. He called me and said he would correct the problem for her and I didn't need to do anything. She then called us to re-install ONE piece of siding that came loose from the side of her home. I personally went out to re-install it for her at no charge. I think this customer was mostly frustrated with the extra charges that were necessary due to the extensive water damage to the exterior on her home that had obviously been leaking for years, to have been able to cause that much rotted material. I am sorry that she was not happy with our scheduling and I only wish now that she would have called me early -on in this project to explain her frustrations at that time so we could have made the necessary changes. Its impossible to solve a problem if you don't even know that it is going on. I was never told about the issues concerning my stepson and only learned about them myself when I read this report. I firmly believe though, that if any Angies members would drive by and look at the exterior work that we did on her home, they would agree that the finished product that we gave her is TOP-NOTCH workmanship. Again, I am sorry that she had all this frustration concerning this project. It is equally disappointing to all of us and beeter communication by all parties involved certainly could have helped avoid alot of this.
