Janice Workman assisted me in finding numerous samples in an affordable price range. Her initial recommendation on the living room carpet I didn't think I would like but once I got the sample home, I realized she was absolutely correct and it would work perfectly. Her brother, Bob came out to measure immediately and set up installation a week later. I couldn't believe how quick they were. The installers were prompt, friendly, and worked very quickly. I'm very pleased with the result.

 + -1 moreWe knew this would be a big job (lots of square footage, older house) and carefully got 3 quotes from qualified vendors on Angie's List. Not only did Bob Workman (owner of Browns) provide the best price, he was very helpful in obtaining samples to look at (took us awhile to decide on just the right wood and color), in scheduling the work, and expediting the small and inevitable blips that happen in a big job like this. Through the 7 day process, I was quite confident the final product would be excellent and it is.
Description of Work: Removed old parquet flooring in foyer, kitchen, eating area, mudroom, laundry and 2 half baths. Replaced with plank hardwood flooring in those same areas. Sanded and restained a step-down into the family room to match the new floor. We also ended up needing sub floor repairs in several areas. The installers (George and his crew) did fine work.

 + -1 moreI was surprised the installers (both vinyl and carpet) arrived in vehicles that did not have any marks indicating they were from Brown's Flooring. I understand that outside contractors are often used for installing, but magnetic signage posted on the vehicles would have be more comforting. Besides that, both installers - as well as the salesman Bob Workman - were great and very knowledgeable and offered helpful advice. I would definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: They replaced carpeting in our master bedroom and closet with carpet and replaced carpeting in the master bathroom with vinyl.

 + 0 moreInstalling our carpet was a challenge because they were matching the existing carpet we already had down. Although it doesn't exactly match, it's darn close and looks really good. They also put down some hardwood flooring for us. It's a herring bone pattern which is not the easiest pattern in the world to lay. They did a beautiful job on that. They were very, very easy to work with. They scheduled us for a time and if they couldn't make it at that time, they called to let us know and were very good at keeping their customers in the loop. Also, when they went to order the hardwood floor material it wasn't available at that time so they called around to other distributors to find it for us and were able to find it. We would use them again in a minute.
Description of Work: Brown's did some carpeting & new hardwood flooring work for us. We have used them before. He (the owner) runs a single location and he's a local business. I like to use local businesses whenever I can because they seem a lot more personable than the bigger companies. I also like knowing if a problem comes up, that they are going to be there.

 + -1 moreStopped by store and was allowed to take a couple of samples home with us. We had Bob come by a couple days later and he measured and gave estimates. Installation was scheduled for 2 days, but was told the day of that it may take 3 days due to large area. The father/son installation team came out, skim coated the old flooring on day 1. On day 2, they laid 2/3 the vinyl, and on the 3rd day finished up. Job could have possibly been completed on 2nd day, but team left so that they could take their kids out for Halloween. The installers were very knowledgeable, courteous, and did a great job. I noticed a piece of trim was missing after they left, they came back that evening to install.
Description of Work: Had new vinyl installed in large kitchen, utility, and 1/2 bath. Quality work, a little pricey, but gave A for price based on quality.

 + -1 moreThe project went well. I have used Brown's in the past but not since Mr. Workman bought the store. It is nice to say the service is still the best. My husband was out of town during the installation, so I was not able to get all of the furniture moved like I said I would, or thought I could. The installers said it was not a problem and moved things for me and then moved everything into the room for me!
Description of Work: I replaced the carpet in the master bedroom. Brown's removed the old carpet/padding and hauled it away. The new carpet was installed quickly and no seams are visible.

 + -1 moreEverything went excellent, overall. Ken, the Laminite installer came out a couple of weeks later (after the carpet was installed) and installed Laminite throughout the kitchen, laundry room and entry areas. Once again, he was on time, professional and did an excellent job.
Description of Work: I called Brown's Flooring after researching Angie's List and talked with the owner Bob Workman. He came out promptly and we told him what we wanted and he took all the measurements. We went to the store on several occasions and brought home different samples of both carpet and laminite. The office staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. We decided on what we wanted and Bob came back out and gave us the estimates which were a little higher than we had found elsewhere. However, based Brown's reputation, and how long they had been in business, we went with them. Tom and Keith the installers were professional and experts at their profession. They took up the old carpet and pad and installed new nylon carpet throughout our entire house which is approximately 2250 square feet, minus the kitchen and laundry room. They did an excellent job, were on time, worked around my schedule and were professional. Very happy with their work and highly recommend.

 + -1 moreAlthough we had a mix-up on the date someone was coming to measure the space and set up a date for installation, Sylvia was great to work with. (We had to replace ceramic tile a year earlier than we had planned because the toilet broke loose because the floor around it was rotten. Unlike two other companies we contacted, Sylvia knew who to call to get the old ceramic tile removed and the rotten flooring replaced. Robinson, Inc, whom she recommended responded immediately and did a great job.) The installers arrived on time. They finished laying the underlayment and the new vinyl in 8 hours and did good work, but I was less than thrilled that immediately upon arrival one of them asked to use the bathroom. Throughout the day, they asked to put drinks in my refrigerator and asked to use the bathroom two more times. One of them also asked for an Advil because he said he was getting a headache.
Description of Work: Installed underlayment and new vinyl flooring in back hall, laundry closet and bathroom. The irregular configuration of the area required a 13 x 12 piece of vinyl. We chose Brown's because the company has excellent ratings, had the flooring we wanted -- something that looks like tile or natural stone but really isn't -- and knew who we should call to fix the rotten floor around the toilet and also get the old ceramic tile removed
