Amazing service, job well done

For several months I researched the best flooring type for my kitchen and adjoining laundry room. During that time I obtained several estimates for various flooring applications so final estimates compared apples and oranges. However, the process allowed me to learn that peel and stick tiles had been installed over sheet vinyl. The original vinyl flooring was only glued around the perimeter of the room. As a result the double layer of flooring could easily be removed and, if the subfloor was in good condition, new flooring could be installed. That knowledge eliminated the need, and expense, of installing a new luan subfloor over the existing floor. It also eliminated a trip hazard at the threshold as a result of multiple layers of flooring. Research on the internet introduced me to Marmoleum by Farbo. It is an updated "green" linoleum product that is made from renewable resources. It has a 25 year warranty and Brothers is one of the companies that carries and installs it. I easily found a tile that would be perfect in my kitchen. Greg provided an estimate that was within my budget and competitive with the other product that I had considered. The tile arrived two weeks after placing my order on February 8th. On February 28th David arrived promptly at 8:30. He removed the old flooring and skim coated imperfections in the subfloor. The following morning he began the two day installation. His 35 years of tiling experience is evident in the installation. My request that the tiles be installed in a staggered brick pattern did not faze him in the least. He worked tirelessly, quietly whistling, on his hands and knees the entire time. He tolerated my constant hovering and questioning with humor. The following week he returned to touch up a few small issues that appeared after we had walked on the floor for a few days. This entire process was only slightly disruptive to our household and allowed us to continue to "lightly" use our kitchen the entire time. I definitely recommend Brothers Flooring and would use them again.

Great service and selection. I gave pricing a 'B' only because I did not get several estimates. Prices were lower and/or competitive than with the local Home stores but was impressed with the service and showroom that I did not look elsewhere. Installation was professional and looks great.

Brother's Flooring saved the day and our entire kitchen remodel project! After being completely stressed from the previous flooring experience, Greg was a calm, experienced pro who assured us our experience with them would be different, and he was right! Their team stripped the floors down in one day with absolutely no mess to the kitchen or dust in the air or any other part of the house. When it came time to pick a floor stain, they put a small amount of stain on the floor--5 different shades for me to choose. They felt it was important I choose a stain after seeing it absorb into MY wood versus just looking at a small square sample on plywood. They were right again. The floors are dark, rich, and beautiful. There are no imperfections anywhere--no dust particles, hair or unevenness in the stain. Our kitchen and eat-in area is quite large and the floors just gleam. It took a little longer to get the toe kicks installed since they were out of stock in the exact wood stain we needed, but when they did come in, they brought 2 versions to our home so I could choose which one matched the hardwood floors the best. Again, I feel they were always considerate of my vision for the kitchen. I really liked working with them!

Up and down experience. The carpet looks great, but there were issues with the installation. We used a lot of samples and Brothers was very patient while we chose our color. They did not pressure us or push particular products, which was refreshing. We upgraded the pad, but it was something we suggested not them. The installers were nice and professional; however, when they got ready to put down the new carpet they realized it was defective. Since the old carpet was already torn up there was nothing to put down. Also, the nail strips on the edges were left exposed, which was a problem because of our toddler. This happened the Friday of a holiday weekend and we were not able to get anyone to call us back until the next Tuesday. Once we got ahold of Greg, he came out himself and put padding down over the nail strips. Once new carpet got in, they installed it and it looks great.

One of the few companies we found that had experience in installed genuine linoleun (vs vinyl). Field measure and install were prompt and professional although a shadow of the underlayment seam was visible. Were able to asnwer technical question s and make suggestions. This is a small company and we felt good doing business with them

It went very smoothly. I would definitely hire them again the next time I have flooring needs!

They have good quality services, and I think that they did a good job. They also have a good selection of products for you to choose from.

Brothers Flooring was very easy to work with. They were very patient as we made our final selection and flexible on the installation date. Overall very professional service, and the install looks great! We are very happy with our selection. We will be using them in the near future to carpet another room in our house.

The owner of the company did come once to look at the work of the subs. He did have the staining/refinishing crew come back several times to redo their work. If anyone uses this company I would carefully check out the subcontractors they use for their work especially the refinishing and staining crew.

Installer worked two and one half days, showed up promptly each day and cleaned up when finished. The work included repair to the sub floor from water damage. Installer was polite, efficient and skillful.

They installed the flooring and they did a bang up job. My wife found out she is allergic to dust mites and one of the places you find dust mites is in the carpet. Dust mites are not just dust they are tiny little bugs. They ripped up the carpet and the flooring underneath was really in bad shape so what they did was put this vinyl flooring down that looked like wood. They did a bang up job it looks terrific, it was a really good installation, we are really happy with the job they did. After the carpet was pulled up and we got a look at what was underneath, it was about day before they came back, and I looked at the old floor underneath and I was really pretty upset, I didn't know how we were going to be able to fix it up but they did it.

Chuck and Greg were wonderful to work with. We knew that some of the stairs to the basement would need repaired. We were not really prepared for how many needed repaired. Their carpenter Scott met with me and explained in detail how to fix the problem without totally rebuilding the stairs and he did a wonderful job. The stairs are now solid and firm. The carpet installers were prompt, efficient and also did a wonderful job. They called me with questions/concerns and I felt no qualms about leaving them in my home to work alone. The work took several days as we had to move furniture out of some rooms so that work could be done then move things back so work could continue. Plus different carpet came in at different times which also extended the work. It all worked out great. The house feels new again

Our caged birds had to be boarded due to the strong chemical smell of the refinishing products. A two man team arrived on a Wednesday morning. They prepared the floors and put a topcoat finish on the floors. I asked when the floor would be dry. The supervisor informed me that the floor would be dry the next day after 24 hours. That was all of the instructions I received. No information sheet. My husband was at a dinner Wednesday evening and was told by the man sitting next to him who has experience refinishing floors that the floor would not be totally dry for one week! The next day my husband called Brothers to clarify when the floor would be dry. Greg told him that he recommends that no furniture be placed on the floor for 72 hours and that the rugs should not be placed on the floors for one week! Once the floor was dry enough to walk on, I noticed that the refinishing stopped before the pedestal sink and toilet in the guest bath. I called Brothers and talked to Greg. He said that he would send the supervisor of the refinishing crew back to my house. The crew arrived late the next day and finished the job in the guest bathroom. The supervisor apologized, but did not know how it happened. Our birds now needed to be boarded longer because the house smelled again. I asked the supervisor when would the floor not be so shiny. He asked me if I had many children and/or pets, since the high gloss is used for that purpose. I replied that I asked for semi-gloss. He said that the normal gloss is semi, but that he was told to pick up the high gloss since he does not routinely carry it on his truck. I called Greg and was told that the salesman wrote gloss. There are three types of gloss, high, semi, and satin. If the salesman only writes gloss, it means high! No one double checked with me about the order before it was applied! This would have made sense since high gloss is not a routine gloss. This company seems to be lacking in communication skills, either among themselves or the client. Greg said that since I signed the work estimate that it was my fault. I am not a floor refinisher, so how would I know the salesman wrote the wrong gloss down. Greg offered to redo the floor which means sanding and reapplication. The birds would have to be boarded, the smell would be awful again, and the mess in my house would be horrible. After 72 hours the kitchen table could return to the eating area. While cooking for the first time since Wednesday, I noticed that there were four unfinished patches in front of the stove. I called Greg once again and was told that the crew would be out again. I questioned the ability of the crew and was told that Brothers had used the subcontractors for a long time and was happy with their refinishing skills. I disagreed. Greg said that they would not return to finish the job until the evening before Thanksgiving. Since I needed my kitchen for the holiday I told him that it was unacceptable, plus the birds would have to be boarded again. It was agreed upon that the crew would return at 9 am on the following Tuesday. I asked Greg for a bill reduction due to all of the mistakes and the added cost of boarding the birds for a longer period of time. The crew arrived on time and finished the job. However, he left brush strokes in the finish. The remaining bill arrived the next day without a reduction. I am not happy with the result. Greg said that they would fix the floor by sanding and refinishing again. I do not want this company to be in my home ever again. I would tell anyone not to use this company for refinishing their floors. It has been a horrible experience.

Overall, the floor looks pretty good, but there were some problems. There is a header/threshold between 2 of the rooms. The flooring on each side of that threshold do not line up. They scheduled 2 days to lay the floor, but they got it done in 1 day. I had already prepped the rooms(pulled up the carpet, removed all the staples, vacuumed, etc.) I think they rushed the installation , and that caused problems with the alignment and levelness of the floors. I understand that getting the alignment matched up between 2 rooms may be difficult based on the "squareness" of the house but they are the professionals. There was also a lot of dust, hair, etc. in the finish.They were responsive about my concerns, and came back out and did a light sand, and redid the finish. It's still not perfect, but maybe it's as good as it can be. The floor vents were backordered and were delivered later, 2 of the 4 would not fit, so they came back out to trim around the openings. Also, a couple of days , doors were left unlocked and lights were left on ( I couldn't lock or turn off because the floors were wet) I was also a little disappointed in the moulding selections. The threshold, reducers, and trim around the fireplace hearth were not what I expected. They did some modifications with the sander and did try do something more to my liking. Brothers was easy to work with regarding scheduling, working while I was not home, returning phone calls, and addressing my concerns. I would, however be very clear about communicating what you expect of your installation.

Overall, it was a very good experience. We had checked other flooring providers but Brothers offered the best service and prices. We basically moved with out moving- this was a very big project to do all at once but it went very smoothly. Greg Hill was very helpful and addressed any questions we had right away. We would definitely use Brothers again!

We came to Brother's looking for a price on a certain wood. Greg showed us a comparable wood in addition to the wood we were first looking for. When we asked him the difference between the two woods, he only told us location of where wood was made and price. We chose the more inexpensive wood but had we known that there was a difference in the length of the wood boards then we likely would have gone with the other wood because once our floor was laid, the short boards caused gaps and an aligning that we didn't hope for. We had Brothers install our floor and they ended up not finishing the job to our satisfaction. I had to be inconvenienced again by having them come back and finish the job. They also left a heap of trash in our garage the first time they thought they were finished. We had to meet with another representative from Brothers to get our concerns mediated and when I asked for a small discount on our final invoice for the inconvenience of having Brothers come back and finish the job, the fact that trash was left in our garage, the lack of professionalism we experienced and the ineffective communication we received through our whole process (from both Greg and Kevin), Kevin said "absolutely not". Had Brothers given us a small discount that showed that they did care about customer service then I probably wouldn't have been so unsatisfied. Be weary of this company. I would not recommend.

We called last Wednesday and the technicians measured to provide us with an estimate. He was running a little late, but called to let us know. They told us they would get back with us by Friday, and we have not received anything. A week later we still haven’t heard anything. It would’ve been nice to hear from them either way; with estimates or letting us know that the job was too small for them.

Great service ! They were on time got right down to work. Did a first rate job. Prices competitive. This was their second job for us.

I called to request a quote on what I thought was a simple vinyl repair. Chuck was able to come out the next day. Unfortunately, after he looked at the bathroom floor, he noted that the subflooring had separated and was the cause of the buckling in the vinyl flooring. He explained very clearly what had happened and why it could not be repaired. When he emailed the quote to me, he estimated the cost based upon similar vinyl to what we had in the bathroom. We made a trip to the showroom on a Saturday to pick out vinyl flooring and was told that they would contact us the following Monday to schedule the installation. We received the call on Monday as promised and was able to schedule the installation the following week. The workers arrived at the time we were given and were very professional and neat. They cleaned up after themselves and were very courteous whenever they spoke to us. After the subflooring was removed, it was noted that there was some mold around the front of the shower, so the one day job turned into a two day job. However, it was much appreciated that he let us know about the mold so we could clean the area with bleach rather than just putting down flooring over the wet spots. The flooring looks great. Would definitely use Brothers Flooring again!

We had carpet replaced in our entire home. It was an extremely large job. We received estimates on comparable carpet and Brothers had the best pricing. They did the job in 2 days and the installers were prompt, courteous and hard workers. They moved all our furniture and then put it back once the new carpet was laid and they made sure everything was picked up and swept before they stopped work. Spending this much money is a tough decision, but Brother's made me love my home again.

It looks really beautiful. So far, our experience had been great. The guy was very professional. He was very pleasant to have in the house. Their price is high; but that reflects the quality of the materials, and the people that actually do the work. It is that we got what we paid for. They are not overpriced. We went there to their showroom, and they helped us with the flooring choices. They showed us all kinds of flooring and our options.

Great, friendly, easy to work with sales people. Helped explain how different options would look in our space. Installers were professional and did a great job. Would work with them again and would recommend to others.
